COOOOOOOOOL
A downward lightning negative ground flash captured at 7,207 images per second. A negative stepped leader emerges from the cloud and connects with the ground forming a return stroke.
From ZT Research, who is “trying to figure out how lightning works.”

Simple Trick to add Required Properties to your SproutCore models.
This may work in Ember too, since Yehuda added reopen to sproutcore I woudln't be surprised if it did.
/** * Adding Support for requiredProperties, by the following contract: * * If there is a hash defined on the object called requiredProperties, verify * that for every key in that hash some property on the object exists, otherwise * throw an exception with the message being provided by the value of the * require properties, eg: * * MyApp.Bar = SC.Object.extend({ * * requiredProperties: { foo: "Foo must be defined to use MyApp.Bar" } * * }); * * */ SC.Object.reopen({ requiredProperties: null, init: function() { sc_super(); var requiredProperties = this.get('requiredProperties'); if (requiredProperties) { for (property in requiredProperties) { if (!this.get(property)) { throw new Error(requiredProperties[property]); } } } } });
Pretty simple, but lets you bake in runtime presence sanity checks without having cluttering up your class files.

Obama fielded a facetious question from then-CEO Eric Schmidt: “What is the most efficient way to sort a million 32-bit integers?” Schmidt was having a bit of fun, but before he could move on to a real question, Obama stopped him. “Well, I think the bubble sort would be the wrong way to go,” he said—correctly. Schmidt put his hand to his forehead in disbelief, and the room erupted in raucous applause.

Any time I do refactoring on a massive scale, I am realllly thankful I took the time to write tests. Gives me a lot more confidence I haven't broken anything. (though the tests might not be the best)
