Harrying of the Lamb
Dulci o' sweet Dulci,
She's beloved by all the lords,
They gather round so lovingly
To hear her pluck the chords;
O' the harp's sweet symphony she weaves,
Her songs can heal your soul,
They enrapture, soothe and captivate,
She's a treasure wrapped in gold.
Dulci o' sweet Dulci,
She's the light of our small herd.
'Tis no wonder truly why
The dark lord falls fast for her.
She's enraptured even Death himself
With the light her life does shine,
She's desire wrapped in empathy
With a heart so sweet and kind.
Dulci o' sweet Dulci,
Too adorable for Death,
He's turned his tail and run so fast
With nary a note so left.
He wasn't good enough for her,
He did know it deep inside;
Thus left her yearning for his love
To safely guard his pride.
Dulci o' sweet Dulci,
She's the catch of a lifetime.
No wonder then, of all the men,
Proditor was one to climb;
The social ranking she would bring
Was tall enough reward,
For Proditor longed to be so loved
By all the fawning hordes.
Dulci o' sweet Dulci,
Have you heard the tales new?
She's said to bear a child
From Proditor's loins, oh yes it's true!
They've consummated marriage now,
They're bonded till the end,
For what gift is greater than the love
A child can so soft distend.
Dulci, o' sweet Dulci,
It's not your fault but mine,
I romanced you with intent and lust
Your life was by design.
I lied, manipulated, stole
The best years of your life.
It was all for naught,
The pain I've wrought,
I'd say I'm sorry but I'd be lying.
Dulci, o' poor Dulci,
I've lived my life a coward.
There's nothing I can say or do,
To change this pain of ours.
I bargained for my life with yours,
I deserve what fate I've got.
I hope you find some comfort dear,
Lovingly yours,
Proditor.
Awaken my dear sweet Dulci,
Truly it's you, is it not?
I've yearned the decades waiting to see
The face of the one I lost.
Those bastards locked me in here love,
Steered me away from what I want.
I wanted you, I fought for you,
But what I wanted mattered not.
They betrayed me when they locked me up,
Then again when you they'd slain,
I mourned the loss not once but twice,
Now they will know their mistakes were grave.
Dulci, my sweet Dulci,
I offer you a chance,
For vengeance 'gainst the enemy
That pillaged, leaving its mark.
I beseech of you my dear sweet Lamb,
Listen close and hear my voice:
Please don't let these feckless monsters win,
Show them the consequence of their choice.
Go forth in my name,
To show them pain,
Rend their world so damned asunder.
I take no pleasure in their loss,
But it's to be their lives or ours.
Dulci, beloved Dulci,
I'm sorry, it's all I am.
I left you yearning longingly,
Abandoned by your man.
I meant to come, I begged the chance
To live my life with you.
But my siblings had their cruel designs
And so they ran me through.
Dulci, dearest Dulci,
My heart belongs to you.
There's nothing more I want my sweet
Then to spend my life with you.
Free me fast, give me the chance,
To make right what went so wrong.
All I ask for in return,
Is to see your smile
Once more.
(Inspired by and based on the cotl au by @mary-cross, it's absolutely stunning and Mary's a sweetheart please go look at it)

Pathological Survivor
I know not what past lives you've made,
But still I see without my eyes;
They still do so assail you:
Those memories,
Into stone so steeply set,
As caskets, coffins thrown in lochs
Deep within your mind
Such that you may escape them.
But your pain remains self-evident;
Hidden in such haste
That it remaina so open,
In the shadows your words cast
When you deign to project false light.
Your tongue remains roughshod,
Tacked and restrained hardy to prevent
The slipping of your mind away
Into the obscurity that awaits.
You know not the truth of your life,
So buried even you've forgotten it,
You've already lost yourself from sanity
Into condemnation,
To the madness that awaits you.
You've crafted yourself,
Become that which you feared;
A being whom the fireflies
Don't dare so linger nearby.
You wield:
Wit, claw, your fangs,
Total sharp in equal measure;
To deface your very being,
Create a semblance of the monster,
That which stole your safe haven
Then left you rendered the same creature
By design.
You speak the same falsehoods,
Give way to the same cold cunning,
You're no different of a beast,
Purposefully stitched into much the same genus
As your enemy;
The woodland beast,
That lies beyond in waiting.
You lie, omit and scheme,
Create your false narrative,
Your smile never reaches your eyes -
The truth betrays you.
You've wrapped them round your hand,
They all believe you when you stand:
To speak the words of peace
From little lamb's sermons.
To lie comes so naturally to you,
You've tricked them all so easily
It begs the question:
Who's really lost in these lies?
These wretched foolish followers?
Or is it you?
I hear the truth,
Deep down inside,
Masked and beaten as it is.
No person can bury their pains forever
Though I applaud your attempt at this.
But those that know true pains presence
Will forever know how to hear
The voice of one whom it has kissed.
You cannot hide forever,
But for now your mask remains.
For now it stands the test,
But someday it shall be sundered.
You make it sound so effortless
That I can't help but wonder...
Can they hear it too?

The Son, Calmly Burning
For a moment briefly everlasting,
I felt solemnly secure.
The world -
So ever-moving as it is,
Came to a standstill and seemed so sure
To never have cause to resume.
For a moment brief but oh so cherished,
I felt comfort for all eternity.
As the world stood still
I felt the will,
To fight,
Renew, and resume dying.
In a moment cut so short by life
I knew the world's truth was within my arms.
Such did I hear the call of life,
Alongside the echoes of death surrounding,
The sweetly soothing song.
There will come a time again, I pray,
That God grants me such a peace.
I toil day and night in vein
So long as in my veins
My crimson ichor fails to cease.
I've seen so many fall to dust,
The brave, heroic, caring.
I've buried men I idolised,
While men I hate kept going,
I've watched as blood left veins of ghosts -
As life of theirs stayed fleeting.
But as I stood there,
Heart in arms,
I felt my own peace building.
The fight of life has taken me,
Made me scarred and morals sordid.
Since beloathed uncle drove the knife
I've known naught in life but burden.
If child is father of the man
Then no wonder a weak man he made.
In the fight for life,
He lost to strife,
Now buried in titchy grave.
Childhood smothered in infancy,
Taken by familial cursing,
Life is but a tragedy
When you rely on life's own mercy.
There existed a moment,
For a brief, small time,
Where God showed me true mercy.
When he took from me my burdensome life
And showed me what ought to be.
While I held my life within my arms
I knew just what had come.
I fought so well,
I rest now,
Fear quelled;
As I lay my last beneath,
The calmly burning sun.

Absence Makes the Heart...
I've grown fonder in your absence
Then I ever dared think or ponder,
The longing rending my chest asunder
Has left me aching from wounds so tender.
I long for your touch,
Your wry little smile
That lights up this dark, cruel world.
I miss you my love, to put it so blunt,
I require the sight of my world.
But in has stepped,
Such a face so familiar
I began to question my senses.
I laid three eyes upon my prize
And beheld your very image.
It took some time, but soon I find
They're not the same as you,
They don't share the memories we made
The love we held so true.
I'm torn apart,
Ripped at the seams -
My dreams to hold you cherished.
I shan't, I won't,
I can't live on,
Without your wondrous presence;
But is it so wrong,
To find respite in that which
Shares your image?
Just for one night,
To hold "you" tight
In order to grin and bear it?
I'm lost to love,
Like my Love, now lost,
The grief so overwhelms me.
I've found lurid comfort,
If just for one night,
'Tis all I deserve for how I failed thee...

Ode to Self
You and I,
A concept gone,
Once steadfast,
Now mythology.
Where once we lived,
Now time does shift,
And left us more than bargained.
We yearned to touch,
To have and hold
In life so unrewarded;
Usurpation ran amock
In a life so duly thwarted.
I knelt before you every day
And so swore my life in service,
But to see your smile was all I cared
For to hold you and feel wanted.
The crime is done
I've destroyed your life,
Now I ask you here to trust me.
There's nothing left
If I'm to be rebuffed,
Please, my darling,
Hold me.

Flight from the Nest
There's a feathered spot lane bare
Where once laid head so did my love,
I feel the warmth expire slow
Through night's spent longed-for hugs;
The subtle smell of fresh-preened feathers,
Of soft hoots and long-drawn hums,
There's nothing more I wish for now
Then to caress my poor sweet's tufts:
To feel the glide of feather 'pon fur,
To feel the home's blazing hearth,
To hear the glide of knife, as wood
Becomes adored works of art,
While I read my books,
And learn my songs,
My work's burden made light and snuffed.
I'd waited an eternity,
Without knowing,
To meet your gaze.
I long for you,
I yearn, 'tis true,
These long and sullen days.
But I'll wait thousands more,
Like the days of yore,
Spent nestled beside my patron god.
What's a thousand more?
I know for sure,
You're worth those days in chains.
