“If you chastise yourself for having nasty feelings when you really can’t help it. You usually make them worse. After kicking yourself, you’re that much more likely to kick someone else. Besides, your nasty demonic side might be part of the spark that makes you creative, funny, and energetic. While that side may not be easy to control or live with, you can use that negative energy in good ways. Becoming positive doesn’t mean becoming sweetly angelic, but rather decently demonic...”

Blog Update: I'm back after a 2 year hiatus. This blog will stay relatively the same with a few new additions such as curating media literate content. I'll be sharing YouTube playlists on a range of topics with the intent of saving others the trouble of finding high quality, informative, accurate, & credible sources. I'm going to primarily focus on mass media curation & criticism, and Life Coaching & more nerdy academic stuff. Glad to be back~ ✌️🌈

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLe2mcH2VVPruD_0_czgEayq8-L5dh83nc
Description: Horror has been in the middle of an identity crisis for some time now, so while Hollywood twiddles their thumbs. Here's a playlist dedicated to exploring the history of horror across popular mediums such as film, TV, video games, literature, & the internet. From Creepypastas to Cinema Sins and academy awards to censorship controversies.
I've organized this playlist as follows:
The Limit(ed)less Potential of Horror (7 videos)
The Range & Roots of Horror (6 videos)
Holiday Horror (3 videos)
Experimental Movies (7 videos)
Violence in Film (6 videos)
B-Movies & Cult Classics (5 videos)
Sub-genres (9 videos)
Tropes, Motifs, & Symbolism (10 videos)
Animation, Adolescence, & The Art of Absurdity (7 videos)
Horror on TV (9 videos)
Scary Stories & Fictional Horror (7 videos)
Web Series, ARG's, & Internet Horror (5 videos)
The Evolution of Horror in Video Games (3 videos)
Mechanics & Storytelling (3 videos)
Survival & Psychological Horror (8 videos)
Indie & RPG Maker Horror (5 videos)
The Future of Horror: Breaking Genres & Mediums (4 videos)
We'll define the genre through its conventions, themes and motifs, storytelling, sub-genres, iconography, filmography, social commentary, and overall influence on pop-culture. With special attention to key figures including but not limited to Junji Ito, Wes Craven, David Cronenberg, Satoshi Kon, George A. Romero, & James Wan. I’ve blended mainstream influences with indie ones and opted to focus less on obvious or overdone examples like Stephen King, Black Mirror, or 5 Nights At Freddys, and focus more on under appreciated gems such as Korean Horror, Anthologies, Holiday Horror, and RPG Maker Horror.
This playlist is a collection of video essays, top 10's, newsreels, historical abstracts, critic reviews, and noteworthy interviews intended to highlight the ups and downs of the genre since the 1960's. Its best to watch these videos in order from start to finish but it can be just as enjoyable to skip around. This playlist features both independent content creators and popular channels such as Screened, Dr. Udru, Vox, The Take, Ryan Hollinger, Watch Mojo, Thafnine, Night Mind, Wisecrack, HBO, Nerdwriter1, & What Culture~

“Homosexuals have helped break the male market wide open and allowed manufacturers to commercialize aspects of men’s lives that were formerly closed to them, barred by the strictures of machismo, the taboos that made the heterosexual’s body an impregnable fortress against the economic incursions of manufacturers”

“…The telescoping of our lives into simplistic categorizations of good and bad, pain and pleasure, denies that the lives of people with disabilities, like all ordinary lives, are shot through with unexpected grace, overwhelming joy, and love returned. Life is simply a mixed blessing.”
