Infused Ice Cream Float Recipes With THC Soda
There’s nothing more refreshing than a sweet, cold and thirst quenching ice cream float! And what better way to elevate the occasion than by adding cannabis! It’s easy to fix up an ice cream float and incorporate cannabis infused soda to change up the game and we’ll show you how. The beverages we recommend are Mojo and Happy Apple. Mojo cannabis-infused craft sodas are magic in a bottle! These delicious sodas enchant and delight the taste-buds. Each soda is Infused with 10mg and up to 100mg of full-spectrum cannabis sourced from Heylo Cannabis. Happy Apple is made from cider pressed with 100% local, Washington apples and water sourced from the Pacific Northwest! Happy Apple beverages contain zero sugars, artificial flavors, or additives.
Getting Started:
There are a few different ways you can go about making the perfect ice cream float. You might be the type to add the ice cream first and pour your soda on top which will decrease the likelihood of spillover. Or you can live dangerously. Add your scoops of ice cream to your already bubbling soda. But watch out, you may need to be ready to slurp up the overflow!
Classic Root Beer Float
What you’ll need:
Infused Mojo Root Beer (available in 30mg or 100mg)
Non-infused soda of choice
2+ Scoops of ice cream of your preference
Optional: Toppings (cherries, sprinkles, nuts, go crazy!)
Start with your ice cream (we’re using vanilla) and add 1 or 2 scoops into a tall glass. Use a measuring cup to dose your soda to find the amount that’s perfect for you. We recommend 10mg of Mojo and including non-infused root beer to add volume to your float. Slowly and carefully pour the root beer into the glass, allowing the fizz and foam to rise and recede. Add more to your preference. Enjoy with a spoon or straw!
Creamsicle Orange Soda Float
What you’ll need:
Infused Mojo Orange Cream Soda (10mg, 30mg or 100mg)
Non-infused orange soda
2+ scoops of vanilla ice cream
Optional: top with infused Swifts Cannabees pure honey and sprinkles
Add your ice cream to your favorite chilled mug. Pour your preferred amount of Mojo Orange Cream (again we recommend 10mg per glass). Add non-infused orange soda to bulk up your float if dosing small amounts. It’s that simple! Include some infused or non-infused honey for an extra sugar rush!
Caramel Apple Float
What you’ll need:
1/2 cup chilled infused Happy Apple sparkling cider (100mg or 1:1)
1/2 cup infused Lime Sparkle Water or non-infused ginger ale or lime soda.
2+ scoops of vanilla ice cream (try a local variety like Full Tilt)
Optional: top with 1-2 melted Emerald Peaks caramel candies
Combine the Happy Apple cider and lime water to a glass and stir. Add more lime water if you’re dosing small amounts of Happy Apple. Add one to two scoops of ice cream to a frosty glass. Pour your cider mixture over the ice cream and if you’re feeling adventurous, add a caramel glaze! Enjoy!

How to Hide the Smell of Weed with DIY Room Spray
Have you ever been in a panic after finishing a bowl of the dankest flower imaginable only to hear a knock at the door when you weren’t expecting visitors? Perhaps you tried opening a window or lighting a candle to handle the heavy cannabis smell. Sometimes that works, but sometimes you need something tougher. Worry no more, we’ve got an easy to create, aromatic room spray that can be used in your living space, as well as spritzed onto your clothes and hair to freshen up after your session! No more anxiety attacks when you smell like weed but you don’t want to! These DIY sprays work great not just with cannabis aromas but in any smelly situation! Spilled old bong water on your roommate’s new couch? Along with doing a thorough cleanup job, try spraying our Kush Fresh recipe below with lemon, lavender, rosemary and lime to mask any unpleasant lingering odors. Litter box needs a refresh but you’re too stoned to make the trip from the box to the trash can? Spray our Dutch Treat & Chill mixture (recipe below) and relax until tomorrow! Read below to get started!
What you’ll need:
Spray bottle (2oz or 4oz size recommended)
Water: preferably water that has been filtered, distilled, bottled, or boiled and cooled works best
Essential oils
Optional: Vodka or if you’re going the non-alcoholic route: vanilla extract (to extend shelf life)
Directions:
Add your essential oils to your clean spray bottle using one of the recipes below. Start by using the directed amounts of drops listed. You can add more oils at the end if the scent isn’t strong enough for you.
If you’d like to add vodka or substitute vanilla extract as a preservative, do so now. The rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per 4 oz of finished product. Ex: if you’re filling a 2oz bottle, add ½ tbsp of vodka or vanilla extract.
Add water to the mix until it reaches the shoulder of the bottle, then cap and shake thoroughly. Give your room spray a test spritz to make sure you are happy with the “volume” of aroma.
If you want a more aromatic spray, add a bit more essential oil to the bottle until you achieve your desired results.
To use: shake vigorously, then spritz liberally.
Essential Oil Blends: the recipes below are intended to help cover cannabis smells and work best in a 2oz bottle. If you want your spray to be less aromatic, halve the recipe, or use a 4oz bottle.
Mimosa and Sunshine:
15 drops sweet orange
15 drops lemon
15 drops grapefruit
15 drops lime
Dutch Treat and Chill:
15 drops lavender
20 drops eucalyptus
5 drops peppermint
20 drops geranium
Kush Fresh:
20 drops lemon
15 drops lavender
20 drops rosemary
15 drops lime
Sungrown:
20 drops lime
20 drops lemon
10 drops eucalyptus
10 drops clary sage
Couch-Locked
20 drops cedarwood
25 drops bergamot
15 drops clary sage
10 drops lavender
Other tips:
If you don’t want to collect individual essential oils, you can also purchase them pre-blended. Uncle Harry’s is a local vendor that offers lovely essential oil blends. And if you’re looking to buy spray bottles along with your oils try local spot Zenith Supplies. You can also find other options on Etsy and Amazon
If you have a favorite perfume, you can add that to your spray instead of essential oils
When shopping for essential oils, try to avoid “aromatic oils” as they are made with synthetic ingredients and can cause headaches
Don’t want to make your own? Try other natural room sprays formulated to cover cannabis smells such as Veil or Cannabolish

10 Cool Things About Seattles Ballard Neighborhood
Ballard’s unique history and lively streets make it a popular hangout for those looking for shopping, nightlife, or a Sunday morning farmers market. Founded by Scandinavian immigrants in the 1800s, the old streets were filled with shipyards, warehouses, lumber yards and historic buildings that have for the most part been converted into restaurants, breweries, shops and cannabis dispensaries! Here are some of our favorites spots you’ll want to visit next time you’re in Ballard:
Ballard Locks If you’re looking for something fun and FREE to do in Ballard then the Ballard Locks might be the spot for you! Relax in the botanical garden or watch the water levels in the channel rise and lower as different vessels pass through. There’s also a fish ladder for the salmon and an underwater viewing window! The Ballard Locks initially began in 1909 and were completed in 1917. As of today, roughly 50,000 vessels pass through the locks each year.
4B’s Dive Bar The 4B’s (which stands for Ballard’s Best Burgers & Brews) is one of Seattle’s most authentic dive bars and is also known as Ballard Grill & Alehouse. When you step inside, it’s akin to going into a time machine where you’re surrounded by tasty bar food, bar games, and drinks. They have a great assortment of activities from many a pool table, shooting hoops, skeeball, plus all sorts of arcade games!
Ballyhoo Curiosity Shop If the strange and weird is your cup of tea then visiting Ballyhoo is the whole teapot. It’s a mix between a natural history museum and a bizarre antique store. You’ll find all sorts of unusual artifacts that are out of this world! From fossils to taxidermy to vintage and antique items— prepare to be amazed!
The “UP” House Also known as the Edith Macefield house named after the previous homeowner who lived 50 years of her life in her Ballard home. She passed at the age of 86, but years before had become a sensation when she refused to sell her home to a large commercial development. Holding out forced the development to build their big box retail stores around her home. Many found similarities in her plight to that of the plot of the Pixar movie Up which is how the home got its name along with balloons that were tied to the house in the mid-2000s. The frame of this memorable house endures as of August 2021 and the juxtaposition of this small house surrounded by huge modern buildings is still a sight to see.
Ballard Farmers Market This happening farmer’s market is all outdoors and boasts the best local food, flowers and local wares happening every Sunday from 9 am-2 pm rain or shine. They also offer the option to shop the market online for Sunday pickup. We dare you to walk away without finding something in this curated and exciting space!
Giddy Up Burgers If you’re looking for the tastiest burger in the neighborhood, look no further! These burgs were voted Seattle’s Most Unbeatable Burgers by Thrillist. Giddy Up offers healthy meal options for vegetarians, vegans, and people with gluten sensitivities. Visit them today and visit our Dockside Ballard location across the street!
King’s Hardware Located in the heart of Ballard, this spot has it all: great drinks, food, and skeeball! Not to mention fried chicken and a patio they’re famous for! Grab your friends and get ready for a night of good food and good times at King’s!
Ice Box Arcade In 2012, Allied Ice closed, a local business that had operated for over 45 years in Ballard providing blocks of ice for local businesses and nearby fishing boats. Now, this unique spot has become home to the Ice Box Arcade, a spot packed with pinball machines and vintage video games. There’s also an outdoor beer garden. Swing by to play, buy or lease a game and enjoy a beer on the patio! Masks are required and games are cleaned regularly.
Burke-Gilman Trail Get moving on one of the most scenic walking and biking trails in Seattle. Built in the 1970’s, Burke-Gilman Trail is over 20 miles and winds between Seattle and Bothell. The trail doubles as a means for commuting to work as it is a social landscape for social activities and fitness enthusiasts. The Burke-Gilman was one of the first of its kind and helped inspire dozens of similar projects around the nation. Take your time and explore. You could even stop at some of these unique local Ballard businesses while you’re at it!
Dockside Cannabis Ballard Dockside Cannabis is a woman and minority-owned company, rooted in the belief that cannabis promotes wellness. In 2011, Dockside first opened its doors as a medical dispensary, Dockside Co-op, in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Today, Dockside Cannabis encompasses four award-winning retail stores in the greater Seattle area that offer the highest quality service and selection to both medical and recreational cannabis shoppers. We look forward to serving you and our community!

How to Make a DIY Dab Rig Setup on a Dime
Is it possible to have a dab rig set up that gives you everything you need for the perfect dab within arms reach, that also matches your sense of style and decor? We think so! And we have some tips and tricks to make a heat-resistant, easy-to-clean tray, with matching rubbing alcohol and swab storage that will look stunning on your coffee table (or wherever you choose to display it)! Best of all, it won’t break the bank and it’s very affordable! Most of the items required for this project can be found at second-hand stores or made using repurposed items from around your home. There is a lot of room for creativity in this project, so let your imagination go wild! If you’re new to dabbing and would like a helpful reminder about the tools and equipment needed to dab, watch our video Dabbing Techniques: How to Cold Dab.
What you’ll need:
An attractive tray with a flat bottom: should be large enough to fit the accessories listed below, as well as your torch or any additional dab tools you’d like to put on your tray. We will be covering the bottom of the tray, so look for options that are made of unique materials or have beautiful handles.
Inexpensive Silpat style mat: this should be large enough to cover the bottom of your tray. Don’t worry if it’s larger, as they are easy to cut with scissors.
2 q-tip swab holders: one will hold clean swabs and the other will collect the dirty ones. You can use anything that is large enough to hold a few q-tip style swabs. Shot glasses, candle holders, old wide-mouthed spice jars, or weed containers would all work well.
Small 1-2oz bottle with tight-fitting lid: this will be filled with rubbing alcohol, to dip your swab into to clean your banger post-dab.
Q-tip swabs, and 91% rubbing alcohol: to fill your swab holders and bottle.
Optional: holders for any additional tools you like to use. Look for something that matches the rest of your setup. Select materials that you can clean with rubbing alcohol.
Additional Tools:
Large sheet of scrap paper- newspaper or a paper bag would work fine
Scissors
Ballpoint pen
Optional decorations: spray paint, glitter, fabric, stickers, paint pens
The Steps
We will use the sheet of scrap paper to make a template of the bottom of the tray. Place the sheet of paper loosely into the bottom of the tray and press it into the corners of the tray to make an indentation in the paper of where the walls of the tray meet the bottom. Lightly trace the shape with your pen. This should give you the shape of the bottom of your tray.
Remove the paper from the tray, and cut your template out. Place it back in the tray to make sure it’s a good fit. Make any adjustments you need to make it fit the way you like.
Once you’re happy with your template, trace it onto your Silpat mat using your ballpoint pen. It will wipe away fairly easily, so be mindful of smudging it.
The fun part! Cut your Silpat mat out and enjoy the sensory experience of snipping through silicone and mesh. It’s weirdly satisfying.
Assemble! Place your Silplat mat into the bottom of your tray. Fill your small bottle with rubbing alcohol, and put the q-tips into one of your swab holders. Add any additional tools or details you like, and voila! You have a beautiful dab set up that blends seamlessly with your decor, and is also functional.
To clean your tray: remove the Silpat from the tray, put it on a flat surface, and roll over it with a sticky lint remover or a piece of tape. Sticky messes should lift easily, and any residue can be wiped away with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol.
Style and Design Ideas: if you decide to decorate your tray, be certain everything has dried and cured thoroughly before use.
Spray Paint! Create a designer look for your set by selecting a color scheme and painting all the elements of your setup. You could have a dramatic monochromatic look, a bright juicy neon look, or even tailor the color scheme to your decor. Select a spray paint that is good for multiple surfaces and finish your project with a protective clear coat. Remember, rubbing alcohol removes spray paint, so don’t paint your rubbing alcohol bottle.
Decoupage! Inject your personality into your setup by adding images from books and magazines to your tray and accessories using Mod Podge or any acrylic gel medium. If you can, try to use Hard Coat Mod Podge for a more finished look that will withstand being handled better.
Get Reflective! Create a sparkling finish on the outside of your tray using unique self-adhesive sheets such as mirror sheets, mosaic tiles, bling wraps, or glitter paper. You could also use peel and stick wallpaper in a similar way if you want a less glitzy look.
Break in your new dab rig setup with the following concentrates available at Dockside or talk to your Budtender for recommendations today!
Fire Bros – Gold Label – LA Kush Cake
Lifted – Boysenberry Creme Brulee Rosin Jam
Oleum – Wonka Bars Honey Crystal

What is 710?
If you aren’t aware of the hottest new stoner holiday: 710, don’t worry! It’s not nearly as old as 420 and not as many odd and bizarre conspiracies surround it, but hey — we stoners will take any excuse to celebrate cannabis! While 420 celebrates all forms of the plant, 710 focuses on concentrates. Will 710 be the next 420? Who knows, but we’re here to spread some awareness about this new holiday!
What is 710?
710 takes place on July 10th and while it’s usually celebrated only on this day, we at Dockside are celebrating 710 the whole month of July with new deals every week! But what is 710 exactly? It’s a day dedicated to concentrates, oils, extracts and dabs. Some examples are hash oil, wax, shatter, budder, etc. Check out our blog post ‘concentrates 101’ for more information on all things concentrates!
Where did 710 come from?
The story goes that 710 got its start in 2012. Some say the day was originally called International Dab Day. Who and where remains speculative, but according to an interview with The Leaf Online, the rapper Taskrok chose 710 as the day of celebration! Taskrok was looking for a day to celebrate dabbing much like how 420 celebrates the consumption of all cannabis. July 10th was chosen because 710 upside down and backwards looks like OIL — this is especially noticeable on a calculator. Taskrok has declined to take ownership of the new holiday saying it belongs to the community.
Why try cannabis oils, extracts, dabs and concentrates?
Consuming concentrates often causes the pleasant effects of cannabis to set in even faster than smoking flower or consuming edibles. Often it only takes a few seconds after dabbing or consuming concentrates for the user to feel the effects. Concentrates can also be a better value— a little goes a long way and they’re much more potent. When properly stored, concentrates will stay fresh for much longer than their flowery and edible counterparts. If you have respiratory issues, dabbing might be an alternative to consider as the inhale is less harsh.

Dockside Battery and Cartridge Guide
Congratulations on owning your very own Dockside battery! We’ve compiled a list of helpful tips to get you started!
Getting started:
Rapidly push the button 5 times to turn your battery on or turn off.
Hold the button down to inhale — a 2-5 second puff works best.
Rapidly push the button 3 times to change the power setting. Green is the low voltage setting, blue is medium, and red is the highest voltage setting.
Rapidly push the button 2 times to initiate a 15-second cartridge warm-up cycle. This helps functionality if the cartridge is left in cold conditions.
A flashing violet light means your battery requires charging.
Tips and precautions:
Store your battery and cartridge in a cool, dark place. Exposing your cartridge to extreme temperatures can cause congealing or leaking of the concentrate.
Keep the battery and cartridge upright at all times. Storing your cartridge at an angle, upside down, or on its side can cause leakage.
If you need to remove your cartridge from the battery before the concentrate is gone, be sure to unscrew the cartridge from the bottom-most contact point of the cartridge and be careful to not unscrew elements of the cartridge from itself.
Viscosity differs from product to product. Heat the cartridge up with friction or by running it under warm water in a plastic bag before vaping for faster, smoother results.
If your cartridge doesn’t make any noise when you initiate a pull from your battery then it may have faulty electronic components. Refer to the following link to troubleshoot alignment issues at home: http://bit.ly/VaporizerTroubleshooting
Test your battery to ensure whether it is the faulty component before attempting an exchange by trying a different cartridge.
If not using an EVOD or SLIMLINE battery, be conscious of voltage levels when vaping. If voltage settings are too high you could fry the concentrate before you fully enjoy your cartridge experience.
If using the wax globe attachment on your EVOD variable power battery, and wish to use a disposable cartridge; remove the entire globe assembly, including the base which has the rubber O rings, to expose the battery’s inner thread for cartridges.
If you are still having issues with your battery or cartridge after consulting this document, feel free to email us at [email protected] with your name and contact information so we can walk you through basic troubleshooting and potentially eliminate any unnecessary trips to the store.
If all else fails, please see our return policy:
If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please return the unused portion in the original packaging to the place of purchase with the original receipt within 15 days and Dockside will gladly exchange it.
Cartridges cannot be exchanged if the issue stems from user error. Please see “Tips & Precautions” for troubleshooting user errors.
All exchanges must take place immediately; we can’t give out any store credit.
The product must be exchanged at the store it was purchased from.
All cartridge exchanges subject to approval by Dockside Cannabis management. Any exchanges attempted past 15 days from the original purchase date are subject to approval by Dockside Cannabis management.

How to Get a Job in the Cannabis Industry
Are you interested in starting a career in the cannabis industry? Curious about how things are developing in this new space? Well, then you’re in the right spot! It’s an incredible time for cannabis as legalization is sweeping the nation and the stigma surrounding cannabis is subsiding. All of this is creating an enormous number of exciting opportunities for anyone new to cannabis or for those looking to branch out.
First, let’s acknowledge that cannabis is one of the most complicated and highly regulated industries on the planet. Especially in terms of compliance needs. Specialized knowledge is needed in each sector, along with hustle, hard work, and research.
If you’re looking to launch a career in this industry or you’re already in the industry and looking for education to further your career, here are 3 impactful steps you can take to be on your way to working at your cannabis dream job.
Research career paths. Learn about the different sectors in the cannabis industry and see which avenues appeal to you most. How does your background and experience translate to cannabis? Cannabis industry business types are typically: growers/producers, processors, manufacturers, testing labs, retailers, and ancillaries such as marketing, operations, and HR.*
Build your cannabis knowledge. Many companies desire employees who have cannabis knowledge, cannabis education, or cannabis experience. If you’re not sure if you have the knowledge necessary, reach out! Talk to different cannabis companies, follow different businesses on Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms. Ask questions, like what kind of experience is required for certain positions. Usually, this is listed on the job description, which is often a good place to start.
Networking. Attend cannabis career panels such as the ‘Cannabis Career Summit’ hosted by Green Flower partnering with Western Washington University. Attending events in your community can be a great way to network and make lasting connections with others in the industry such as Cannabis Alliance, Lemonhaze, Canna Clusive, or the Facebook group WIC (Women in Cannabis). Look for local events in your area and attend trade shows.
*Examples of job titles that might exist in this market include: Budtender, Account Rep, Graphic Designer, Brand Manager, Merchandiser, Buyer/Product expert, Bookkeeper/Accountant, Human Resources Manager, Marketing Manager/Assistant, Operations Manager, Content Writer, Trimmer, Grower, Extraction Technician.
If you’re reaching out to a business, make sure you have a strategy. Don’t just reach out directly without doing your research. Know the company you’re interested in and make sure what they’re doing is aligned with what you want to do. Take advantage of any tools and educational materials they offer on their website, such as blog posts or youtube videos. Always remember to be yourself and demonstrate authentic enthusiasm!
Not sure what skills you should have when trying to break into the industry? In our experience, it’s good to have the following:
Be adaptable. Cannabis experience is commendable but the industry is moving fast ahead of the old practices and being adaptable is an extremely important facet in this industry.
Be curious. Being aware of changes in the industry and staying curious about cannabis is also important.
Be a team player. Being a go-getter and continuing to evolve and push yourself to grow is an asset in this industry.
Think outside the box. There are many new opportunities arising in the cannabis industry every day. Thinking out of the box will get you farther in your career and open new doors for you.
Online job boards are a fantastic option when you are seeking a career in the industry. Below are some resources that might be helpful.
420Careers – In a nod to the future of where the cannabis industry is going, 420Careers is owned by Northsight Capital, LLC, a venture capital firm looking to take in capital to re-deploy on cannabis-related assets.
Craigslist – Don’t forget about this great resource for openings. If you do a search in the city you currently reside in, and the term “marijuana”, or “cannabis”, you will be able to find positions listed in most states that have legal recreational, and medical markets. The bulk of Dockside’s first round of hiring came from a post on Seattle Craigslist.
Regardless of how you go about your job search, make sure you approach each opportunity with an open mind and curiosity. Like any job quest: research the culture of the company you are applying to and always follow up. This is an exciting time to be getting into the recreational cannabis industry. Best of luck!

10 Cool Things About Seattles SODO Neighborhood
We love our SODO (South of the Dome or South of Downtown – you decide) neighborhood! Maybe you’ve been here for a Seahawks or Mariners game? While this mostly industrial neighborhood isn’t home to many residents, there are still a considerable amount of things to do and see! Some of our favorites are:
Lady Rainier Statue at Old Rainier Brewery A bit of history surrounds the statue Lady Rainier and the Rainier Brewery. Did you know the Rainier brewery initially opened in Georgetown at where Machine House Brewery currently resides? Locals have petitioned to bring Lady Rainier back to her original home, but for now, you can catch her at Old Rainier Brewery near I-5. See her at 3100 Airport Way S.
Jack Perry Memorial Park This is one of the only parks in SODO and it’s small, maybe the smallest park in all of Seattle, but what a view! Visit this park and see the container ships. Watching the Seattle Container Terminals is a thing! Ok, so this may sound kind of boring, but it’s actually really cool! Especially if you’ve popped an edible or two. Did you know the Port of Seattle has an important job and performs a critical function in U.S. international trade? A huge percentage of incoming cargo crossing Seattle’s docks will be bound for destinations in the Midwest and East Coast, and Seattle is a top export gateway! These container terminals cover more than 500 acres. Find a ship schedule that works for you and visit Jack Perry Park for a good view.
Sodo Murals There are so so SO many amazing murals in Seattle and SODO is home to some of the best! Discover public art in Seattle with this handy app! One of our favorites is on our Dockside SODO building featuring art by @insa_gram.
Orient Express Bar and Restaurant If you’re into haunted spots and ghost stories then the Orient Express will not disappoint! Lights exploding and cold spots have been observed by multiple people. And it’s no wonder, the Orient Express, originally called Andy’s Diner, was created by using seven (probably haunted) decommissioned railroad cars. Including a VIP car where Franklin Delano Roosevelt slept! While the railroad cars look out of place on the outside when you’re driving by, inside is a very different experience! Everything is covered in wood and dark, with small tables fit for a train car. It’s all from another era and you’ll find old photos lining the walls to give a sense of history and where these cars have been. It’s a bit of a maze inside and finding the bathroom might be an adventure. Maybe you’ll even run into a ghost. You never know at the Orient Express! Also, did we mention there’s a karaoke car that is happening on the weekend!
Pacific Galleries Antiques Mall Pacific Galleries Antiques Mall is the Disneyland of antique malls. It’s a huge building with hundreds of booths and obscure objects you didn’t know you needed! Who knows what you’ll find and we guarantee you’ll have to visit more than once to see it all! There’s seriously so much stuff to look at, you won’t leave empty-handed! And you better visit soon! As of their website— Pacific Galleries will be closing at the end of August 2021.
Pizza Sodo has some of the best pizza in Seattle. Check out Sodo Pizza off Airport Way or Slice Box Pizza (Sodo Slice) on 1st! Sodo Pizza is a woman-owned local business and when walking in, you’ll find yourself surrounded by old photos and maps of old Seattle. Slice Box has seriously delicioius fresh pizza you can order by the slice at their convenient walk up! Grab a slice and picnic at Jack Perry Memorial Park!
Derby Car Restaurant The restaurant called ‘Derby’ is located inside a car shop aptly named The Shop. Their website describes it as “a state-of-the-art facility for car and motorcycle enthusiasts to indulge in all aspects of their passion.” Did we mention that the food is excellent? Can CBD Help My Pets Anxiety?
Loud noises like fireworks and thunder are often a source of anxiety for our furry friends. Maybe your best bud is stressed by new people and situations. Or maybe it’s not stress or anxiety at all but physical pain or digestive issues. Our pets have an endocannabinoid system, just like we do. This system functions in our body to help regulate sleep cycles, mood, stress, and appetite among many things. In this system there are receptors CB1 and CB2 whose functions are inhibited or enhanced by cannabinoids like CBD. It’s been known that CBD— one of the cannabinoids in cannabis— can help alleviate discomfort and anxiety in animals and humans alike. There are a plethora of CBD treats and remedies on the market today but if you want to make sure the products you’re using are made from the highest CBD quality and testing, visit your local cannabis shop and have a conversation with your budtender to find the right product for you and your pet!
We recommend visiting us at Dockside Cannabis, where you’ll have a conversation with one of our highly recommended budtenders who will help you find the right product for you and your pet.
So how does CBD affect my pet?
There are no formal studies on how CBD affects your furry friend. What we do know is that cannabinoids bond with endocannabinoid receptors located in the central and peripheral nervous system, much like in humans, and in turn helps maintain balance in the body.
What problems can CBD solve for my pet? While there are no studies available, there is a plethora of anecdotal evidence from pet owners that promote CBD use in pets. Most pet owners rely on CBD to help with managing separation anxiety, chronic pain, noise phobias, arthritis, digestive tract upsets, behavioral problems, symptoms caused by cancer, and seizures in pets.
What type of CBD can I give my pet?
These days it’s not uncommon to find CBD in pet stores, gas stations, or the shelves of a grocery store. One thing to know is that not all of it has come from plants that have the same rigorous agricultural and testing standards as CBD found in legal cannabis shops in Washington. Read more about the differences in CBD quality in our post Hemp or Cannabis CBD: Here’s What You Need to Know.
It’s worth noting that too much THC may be harmful to your pet and it’s never a good idea to give your animal weed that’s not recommended by an expert. Always watch your animal and if you suspect your pet has gotten into your treats, read our blog What To Do When Your Pet Gets Into Your Stash.
Risks of CBD use for pets? It is always advisable when giving your pet something new, to start with a small dose and then closely monitor for side effects. Talk to your budtender about dosing.
All of the products available at Dockside are human-grade and thoroughly tested. In fact, we’d recommend using the Fairwinds Companion Bacon Tincture to mix yourself a Bloody Mary mocktail— great for taming the beast in us all!

11 Cool Things About Seattles Shoreline Neighborhood
Shoreline isn’t just a neighborhood north of Seattle, it’s actually its own growing city! While Shoreline might often be overlooked and mistaken for another part of Seattle due to it bordering the city’s northern limits, it continues to retain its own charms and is home to many unique and fun things to do! Here’s our list of unique spots and stories that you won’t find anywhere else in Seattle!
Highland Ice Arena: This ice arena has been family owned and operated since 1962 and is open all year round to the public. Figure skating, hockey leagues, birthday parties and private rentals are open to all ages and skill levels! And just an FYI, they have excellent hot cocoa!
Chug’s Root Beer: Do you love rootbeer or that rare specialty soda that you thought didn’t exist anymore? Then a trip to Chug’s is in your future. This rootbeer-centric establishment has been running since 2017, technically located in Lynnwood, it’s not a far drive from Shoreline and it’s totally worth it!
Darrell’s Tavern Darrell’s isn’t just a dive bar. It’s THE dive bar and as the bar advertises, “it’s the bar where your dad used to drink”. Stepping into Darrell’s is like stepping into a time machine with retro decorations and prices that can’t be beat. Make sure you stop by when there’s live music and tacos!
Black Coffee Northwest: Black Coffee Northwest offers excellent roasts while boasting an amazing mission. This Black family owned business features programs like a Black marketplace – promoting Black-owned products, youth barista training opportunities and after-school study hours. Our favorite coffee shop has been the target of racists attacks in 2021. Not cool Seattle. Support Black owned businesses and support Black Coffee Northwest today!
HIVE Virtual Reality Lounge: Reality as of late has been rough so why not create your own reality with HIVE virtual reality lounge? Play with your friends and family or go it alone, from exciting survival games to chill nostalgic Christmas adventures. There’s something for everyone!
Edmonds Theater This historic theater was built in the early 1900s. It stayed relatively untouched until the 1980’s when it was purchased and renovated by a new owner. It’s still debated if this historical theater is haunted (it probably is). Witnesses say that a shadowy figure surrounded by a bright aura can be seen walking down the aisles.
Washelli Cemetery One of Seattle’s oldest and biggest cemeteries! It wasn’t always located in Shoreline though. City founders David and Louisa Denny, gave birth to twins. Sadly one died as an infant. They buried their child in Seattle, but the city’s growth forced them to move the remains, ultimately to the land they owned north of the city – what is today known as Washelli on Aurora. Many others joined the family in burying their loved ones in Washelli. Today, it is a privately run cemetery and is roughly the size of an 18 hole golf course, home to 160,000 remains both cremated and buried.
The Carnegie Building – Old Snohomish Library Built in 1910, it’s no wonder the Snohomish library has had its fair share of ghost sightings. One ghost in particular has made a few appearances. Her name was Catherine McMurchy and she was one of the building’s librarians. Catherine passed in 1956 and reportedly, her spirit visits the building to rearrange supplies and peek through windows. Many believe Catherine haunted the library because she was buried without a tombstone. In 2002, thanks to residents, library patrons, and the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, Catherine now has a gravestone that says “Cherished Snohomish Librarian”.
Ginger’s Pet Rescue: Looking for a furry friend to share your life with? Naturally, adventures are much more fun with a friend! Ginger’s Pet Rescue has pups up for adoption and if you can’t adopt, no sweat, you can always foster or volunteer! Make a difference in a pup’s life today!
Food Trucks at Ridgecrest Pub: Ridgecrest Pub has a great wine and beer selection but that’s not all! Enjoy the different food truck options each night of the week! Across the street is the Crest movie theater, which is a gem of a divey second-run theater. Their popcorn is delicious and they serve beer and wine.
Dockside Cannabis Shoreline: Dockside Cannabis is a woman and minority-owned company, rooted in the belief that cannabis promotes wellness.

Recipe: Infused Energy Balls
Whether you call them protein balls, energy bites, no-bake granola balls, or snack balls is totally up to you. The bottom line is that these are one of the easiest and healthiest homemade edibles. You don’t need to own any special equipment, you don’t need to be good at cooking or baking, and you probably have a lot of the ingredients in your pantry. These treats are perfect for bringing on a camping trip, sharing with friends as a thoughtful surprise (who doesn’t love snacks?!), or curbing that late evening munchie craving.
There are infinite ways to customize the base recipe to your personal taste preferences—as long as you stick to the proportions. Exploration is encouraged, so if that’s your style, you can find the base recipe at the bottom of this post. But in case you need some inspiration to get motivated, then try out one of our favorite variations below!
First, a few recipe tips:
Toast the nuts, seeds, and oats to add an extra level of flavor!
If your batter is a little dry and it’s difficult to form into balls, add more nut/seed butter 1 tbsp at a time.
A cookie scoop, portion scoop, or ice cream scoop can be super handy tools when measuring and shaping the batter— but a spoon works fine if you don’t have any of these.
If you want some extra protein, substitute 1:1 with the oats, but we wouldn’t recommend substituting more than ½ a cup—and you may need to increase the proportion of nut butter if your mixture seems too dry.
The Method: Get it together– Get all your ingredients and measuring tools out. Toast nuts, seeds, or oats if desired, and set them aside to cool. Mix it up– Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix until fully combined. Make it stick– Press everything together, cover with a towel or plastic wrap and refrigerate for ~1 ½ hrs. Shape it– Shape the mixture into balls using about 2 tbsp per ball. Chill it— Taste it! Save it for later, or make your friends some goodie bags! You can store the remaining energy bites in your fridge for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Make sure to clearly label whatever bag or container you store these in, and keep them away from your pets and children.
Now for the recipes!
Infused PB Chocolate Chip Energy Balls (yield 13 balls, 3 tbsp each) 1 ¼ c Rolled Oats (toasted) ⅔ c Peanut Butter 3 tbsp Regular Honey + 10 Packets of Swifts Infused Honey ⅓ c Peanuts (crushed slightly and toasted) ⅓ c Mini Chocolate Chips 2 tbsp Flax Seeds (whole) ½ tsp Coarse Salt 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
*Swifts Infused Honey is available in THC (10mg THC per packet) or 5:1 CBD to THC (10mg CBD + 2mg THC per packet).
Infused Tahini Date Energy Balls (yield 13 balls, 3 tbsp each) 1 ½ c Rolled Oats (toasted) ⅓ c Tahini ⅓ c Almond Butter 3 ½ tbsp Maple Syrup 1 ½ tbsp Molasses 8 Spot Dark Chocolate Wafers ⅓ c Chopped Dates (before adding to the recipe – soften by soaking in hot water for a few minutes, then draining and remove the pit) 3 tbsp Sesame Seeds (toasted) 3/4 tsp Coarse Salt 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Coconut Almond Cashew Energy Balls (yield 15 balls, 3 tbsp each) ⅔ c Rolled Oats (toasted) ¾ c Unsweetened Shredded Coconut (toasted) 1/2 c Cashew (or Almond) Butter 3 tbsp Infused Coconut Oil* ⅓ Honey ⅔ c Almonds (chopped or sliced) 1 tbsp Flax Seeds 1 tbsp Chia Seeds ½ tsp Coarse Salt 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
*if you don’t want to make your own infused coconut oil, you can substitute Olio Infused Olive Oil (3 tbsp ~ 75mg THC, so that’d be 5mg THC per ball). Alternatively, you can substitute regular almonds for Swifts Chocolate Covered Almonds OR add a little extra sweetness using Ruby Sugar.
Maple Cinnamon Pecan Energy Balls (yield 13 balls, 3 tbsp each) 1 ¼ c Rolled Oats ⅔ c Almond Butter ⅓ c Maple Syrup 1 tbsp Molasses ⅔ c Pecans (chopped and toasted) 8 Seagoat White Chocolate Squares (chopped) 2 tbsp Flax Seeds ½ tsp Coarse Salt 1.5 tsp Vanilla Extract 1 tsp Cinnamon
Base Recipe:
(yields 13 balls, 3tbsp per ball) 1 ¼ c Rolled Oats (sometimes called old fashioned oats) ⅔ c Nut or Seed Butter (or ½ c Nut/Seed Butter + 2 tbsp olive or coconut oil) ⅓ c Honey, Maple Syrup, Agave, or another sticky liquid sweetener ⅔ c Exciting Mix-ins (nuts, chocolate, dried fruit) 2 tbsp Seeds (sesame, sunflower, flax, chia etc) ½ tsp Coarse Salt 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla paste
Of course, you can make uninfused versions of these energy balls following this basic recipe using whatever mix-ins that tickle your fancy. But, assuming you’re here to make the infused version, here are a variety of suggestions to help you get the flavor and potency you desire:
Substitute some of the nut/seed butter with infused coconut oil or infused olive oil. If you aren’t up for making your own, you can pick up a bottle of Olio Infused Olive Oil from Dockside. Each tablespoon contains ~25mg THC (400mg/bottle).
Substitute some portion of the liquid sweetener for Swifts Infused Honey (available in 5:1 ratio of THC to CBD or THC only) Each packet contains about 1 tsp of honey.
If you’re using chocolate and prefer to minimize the weedy flavor of your balls, you can substitute some of the chocolate chips for broken-up pieces of Spot Chocolate or Seagoat Chocolate Squares available in dark, milk, or white in a variety of ratio options.
If you like things a little extra sweet and extra potent, you can always just follow the above recipe as is with the addition of Infused Ruby Sugar.

What is Mom Weed and Why We Need It
The internet is telling us weed moms are the new wine moms. So what does it mean to identify as a weed mom or to consume mom weed? Is it a new strain? Not yet. Is it only for moms? Of course not! There are already a few books out there about ‘mom weed’ so let’s dive into this new phenomenon.
As legalization expands across the United States, more moms are finding the knowledge to safely balance cannabis consumption and parenting. Not a weed mom? Don’t worry, it can also be a way to describe your consumption habits, even if you don’t identify as a mom at all.
Mom weed can be a whole catalogue of strains that assist productivity, relaxation, and anything to necessitate a more positive parenting experience. And you don’t have to be a mom to reap the benefits! Mom weed is versatile. It can be weed to help you get through your to-do list and it can be weed that helps you unwind. Check out some products that are mom weed approved.
*Just a note, cannabis can be consumed in many different ways and the products we’re suggesting are not just limited to flower:
Low key night in? The kids are asleep and it’s a good time for some self-care. Try out Hindu Kush by Puffin Farm. This heavy landrace strain will melt your woes away.
Weed to help you get through your everyday tasks? Try Mango Haze by Artizen. It has a 2:1 ratio. meaning it has twice as much CBD as THC, giving it a fun, yet functional effect profile. Also, consider Ethiopian Banana prerolls which provide a balanced amount of CBD and THC to create a dreamy yet focused feeling. Perfect for before or after workouts, or as a well-deserved treat.
Ditch the wine and try Happy Apple Sparkling Cider. If you’re looking for a daytime option, try CBD Wild Sides (30mgCBD/3mgTHC) available in Lemon Ginger and Mango.
Trying to get some much-needed sleep? Try Beauty Sleep by Green Revolution or Deep Sleep by Fairwinds. If you prefer a pillow mint, Mr Moxey’s Dream Mints are flavored with real lavender and peppermint essential oils and infused with CBD, THC, and CBN to provide deep relaxation.
And let’s not forget about the weed dog moms out there! Fairwinds Companion Tincture is super versatile and the bacon flavor makes a great addition to any tomato-based drink. Companion tincture is also available in chicken flavor for the feline types!
Maybe you know a cannabis-loving mom who’s too crunched on time to get out to a dispensary. Pick her up something special this Mother’s day. Some more fun ideas below:
Try Swifts Chocolate Covered Raisins. Raisinets wish they could be this fun. Each piece has 2.5-3mg THC, so you can eat a little or a lot.
Spot’s Levity Blend edibles with (10mg CBD / 3mg THC). Tasty and mellow, Spot’s Levity Blend edibles are available in milk or dark chocolate, as well as strawberry or orange fruit chews.
Wild Mint Tootsies Foot Soaks. Best enjoyed on the kitchen counter with a glass of wine or your favorite preroll. These minty bath bombs will soothe your tired dogs!
Wild Mint Bath Bombs. These bubbling beauties are loaded with cannabis goodness and scented with lavender essential oil for the ultimate aaah-factor.
Green Revolution Intimate Lubricant cuz moms deserve fun, too. Comes with a vibrating applicator for solo play.
*Disclaimer: do not use cannabis while pregnant or nursing. While Dockside Cannabis has well-educated staff members and we are proud to employ several state-certified MMCs (medical marijuana consultants), we are not medical professionals. All suggestions are recommended based on anecdotal evidence only, and are not to be considered as prescriptive advice.

What is THC Delta-8?
If you’ve stumbled upon any of the recent articles or gas station convenience stores touting “Delta8— a new legal form of cannabis,” you’re probably wondering “what the heck is that?”
While Delta-8 might seem like a suitable and possibly cheaper alternative to getting high, there are a number of potential risks and things you should consider before trying it out.
The big question: overall, how safe is Delta-8?
Because the molecular structure of Delta-8 is extremely similar to Delta-9, in theory, it would seem safe, and under carefully regulated production, it probably is. Some anecdotal stories about it helping with sleeplessness and appetite even suggest potential benefits. However, due to the fact that Delta 9 naturally occurs in much higher concentrations than Delta-8 and both are so similar in their molecular structures and effects, research since the ’70s has focused almost exclusively on Delta-9. The lack of attention has allowed Delta-8 to fly under the legal radar to some extent as well, meaning most of it comes from an entirely unregulated industry.
It’s important to trust your source. You may spot the occasional Delta-8 product in a legally licensed dispensary, however, if you plan to try Delta-8 from another source, it’s important to understand there may be risks involved due to its severe lack of regulatory oversight. Anyone can produce it anywhere, including their garage, and there is no verification check to ensure the processes used in production produce a final result that is safe for you to consume. In contrast, the products you see at Dockside or any other legally licensed dispensary in WA are heavily regulated from seed to sale, including tests for microbes, pesticides, and residual solvents. While that can seem restrictive to some, these regulations offer peace of mind to the customer who wants to be sure that they are purchasing something safe to consume.
Cannabis does not naturally contain significant amounts of Delta-8.
Whether or not you know it, if you’re a cannabis user, you’re already familiar with Delta-9. Delta-9 is what most people commonly refer to as just THC. It is responsible for producing that desirable “high” feeling. Although there are several naturally occurring compounds in cannabis that affect our body’s endocannabinoid system, Delta-9 typically occurs in the highest concentration (except in some cases, where selective breeding produces higher concentrations of CBD). The concentration of all other compounds, including Delta-8, is very low.
Our endocannabinoid system is super complex and helps regulate all sorts of functions, which you can read more about in our post, There’s More to Cannabis Than Just THC.
If hemp/cannabis barely produces any Delta-8 on its own, then how is Delta-8 made?
You may be surprised to know that virtually all Delta-8 is produced synthetically using a chemical process that converts other compounds from the plant into Delta-8. In most cases, due to recent overproduction, the source compound is CBD. While that doesn’t sound inherently bad, a lot of CBD outside of the regulated cannabis industry is actually a by-product of the industrial hemp industry. Industrial hemp is grown for fiber and fuel, not necessarily with the same standards that agricultural products intended for human consumption have. There is little transparency and regulation to ensure your safety from potentially harmful pesticides.
Read Hemp or Cannabis CBD Here’s What you Need to Know to get up to date on the risks of unregulated CBD.
Over the past handful of years, the CBD industry has encountered a problem; it has produced way more supply of isolated CBD than there is a demand for. The recent hype over Delta-8 is giving those growers and processors an opportunity to sell their supply before it spoils. But, unfortunately, that means they’re probably more concerned with profit than your safety. Furthermore, due to the lack of regulation, there isn’t anyone overseeing the process of converting that material to Delta-8.
Most Delta-8 products are sold as edibles or vapes because Delta-8 must be isolated (or converted) from the other compounds and then concentrated in order to produce the effect of being “high.” If you see Delta-8 flower for sale, just know that it wasn’t grown naturally, because Delta-8 dominant hemp varieties don’t exist. You’re likely looking at a hemp bud with less than 0.3% THC that has been sprayed with Delta-8 isolate from an unregulated source, and there’s no research saying that it is safe to combust.
Why is Delta-8 legal in most places?
There is a loophole in the wording of the law that currently leaves Delta-8 in a legal grey area. In the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, legal hemp (or cannabis) is defined as:
“…any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”
So, even though Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC are similar, the wording of the law implies that regulation only applies to Delta-9. Due to scientific developments in cannabis processing and extraction methods, consumption of Delta-8 in concentrations that are enough to experience similar psychotropic effects as Delta-9 is a relatively new thing. Some states are currently working on bills to regulate Delta-8, and twelve states have already banned sales indicating more changes to this legal loophole are on the horizon.
Why wasn’t the law written to include Delta-8 in the definition of hemp/cannabis?
Simply put, the law hasn’t caught up. Decriminalization and/or legalization of cannabis in many states have pushed what we know about extracting and modifying the plant, but all of this has only happened in the last handful of years. Since Delta-8 isn’t a compound that naturally occurs in a significant quantity, it’s only recently entered the conversation.
