Students for Justice in Palestine at John Jay College at Criminal Justice We are a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and community memebers at John Jay College that want to bring awareness about the human rights violations committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. We are here to build solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for human rights, justice, freedom, self-determination and the right to return. SJP believes that while the Palestinian people must ultimately be able to decide their future in Palestine, certain key principals, grounded by international law, human rights, and basic standards of justice, will be fundamental to a just resolution of the plight of the Palestinians. These include the full decolonization of the illegal held Palestinian lands; the end of the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip and West Bank; including East Jerusalem; the implementation of the right of return and repatriation for all the Palestinian refugees to their original homes and properties; and an end to the Israeli system of Aparthied and discrimination against the indigenous Palestinian population.Just as SJP condemns the racism and discrimination underlying the policies and laws of the state of Israel, SJP rejects any form of hatred and discrimination against any religious or ethnic group. SJP's strength is in the great diversity of it's membership. SJP welcomes indivduals of all backgrounds to join in solidarity with the struggle for justice in Palestine.

The Deir Yassin massacre was not the largest-scale massacre, nor was it the most gruesome. The atrocities committed, the scale of violence and the complexity of the methods and insidious weaponry used by Israel against civilians in the recent decade have been far more sadistic and pernicious. But Deir Yassin marks one of the most critical turning points in Palestinian history.
A bitter symbol carved in the fiber of the Palestinian being and narrative, it resonates sharply as the event that catalyzed our ongoing Nakba (catastrophe), marked by the forced exile of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes, creating the largest refugee population worldwide with more than half living in the diaspora.
Deir Yassin is a caustic reminder of the ongoing suffering, struggle and systematic genocide of the Palestinian people, [68] years and counting. When the village was terrorized into fleeing, tumultuous shockwaves of terror ran through Palestine, laying the blueprint for the architecture of today’s apartheid Israel.

Today marks the 68-year anniversary of the Deir Yassin massacre in which Israel killed over 250 innocent Palestinians, nearly the entire village. Nothing has changed. Massacres continue.
