Spent a cool Saturday afternoon at Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo feeding the giraffes! This was way more fun that I expected and the kids had a blast. It’s ironic how many things there are to do at the zoo lol.

Microsoft XBox One x Bape "Aape" Collection
Bape never fails, and seeing them team up with one of my favorite brands in Microsoft is amazing. I've been a fan of Bape since the early 2000's, and I've always admired the creativity and expertise they exude in the street wear and lifestyle space.
I currently sit on the global Youthspark advisory board for Microsoft's Corporate Citizenship department, so it's wonderful seeing their impact globally with youth and needy communities, and also seeing them show that they are in tune with global culture and fashion as well. Now let's see about getting my hands on this stuff!

KAWS may be one of the most, if not thee most praised artist of my time (88') who's managed to break through the art world in urban and mainstream culture. Last year, he announced the closing of his street-wear brand Original Fake and in doing so, broke a lot of hearts set on copping the highly sought after tees included in his range of pieces produced by the brand.
Ironically, Spring/Summer Twenty-Thirteen was the last time we expected to see a tee shirt from KAWS, but to no avail his monumental “CLEAN SLATE” exhibition in Hong Kong was accompanied by a very exclusive tee shirt in honor of the exhibit only available at the Harbor City installation location. 
Operating in an over saturated tee shirt market has become a burden for many brands who are trying to emerge from the packs, and even for those who've led the packs over many years. But for KAWS, it didn't seem as though his sells were impacted by any of this. I remember discussing Original Fake's extinction with a friend of mine who asked if KAWS went out the wrong way, and the only response I could think of was, "well, there's still a ton of Ice Cream, Pink Dolphin, and insert brand name here from years ago still sitting on shelves globally, but no Original Fake." This made me think… AHAA! KAWS didn't end Original Fake because it had run it course, at least not in our terms. An artist at the top of his game deserves the focus to be on his art, not a subtle counterpart to be divulged by the masses, and of course in all things, business is business. "So how do I shift their focus back to my purpose?" Simple, give them what they've always had (the art), in ways they think they've always wanted it (the tee). I'm excited to see more of KAWS' artwork and what cool tee shirts, toys, and who know's will accompany it in the future.
