Making the journey to the Philippines and experiencing the motherland with my family was profoundly rewarding. The feeling of being immersed in the beauty of the islands contrasted with the dramatic ways that my people walk through life was humbling. Out of all of my experiences, what I will cherish the most was being able to witness the impact the trip had on my daughters — almost as if seeing it through their eyes. It fills me up inside to know that they will forever hold this place close to their hearts. I can’t wait to take them back and discover more of what our homeland has to offer!
