Pairing: Jai Courtney x Reader

Summary: You come home not expecting Jai to be there.

Warnings: None

You had been out all day running errands. Back and forth, back and forth, seeming to never even put a dent in the things you needed to get done.

What you really wanted to do was to stop running around, go home, relax in a warm bath, then all but pass out and get at least 8 hours of sleep.

What you had wanted and expected to come home to was a clean and empty house. That is not what you got.

“Honey I’m home!” He said excitedly, entering the house. He knew you weren’t expecting him for another week, but hey, he liked to surprise you whenever he got the chance to. They had finished filming and he had hopped on the first plane out here, not wanting to spend one more moment away from you.

Maybe he had gone soft, (although he would deny it as always) but that was okay as long as it was only for you.

You and Jai’s shared bulldog Cooper jumped up and began barking upon Jai’s entry into the house he had been away from for so long.

“Heya bud,” he said scratching Cooper behind the ears. “Is your momma home tonight, Coop? Y/n!”

Jai dropped his stuff down at the door, and the rest he unintentionally scattered around the kitchen and living room as he began his search for you, Cooper trailing along by his side as his faithful companion.

“Y/n?” He wandered through the house, checking all the rooms and calling your name in each one. Sure, he hadn’t seen your car in the driveway, but you usually parked in the garage while he was gone. He checked there to. Nothing.

“Where could she be?” He thought outloud to himself in the big empty house. “Maybe she decided to go out with some friends. Oh well, I’ll just wait for her to get home.”

Jai had expected you to be home when he got there, but was just as happy to wait if it meant he got so see your face a week early.

After a little bit as it got later, he decided to occupy his time and appetite so he ordered a pizza, sharing some with Cooper.

Jai’s car was home, which excited you to know he was done filming Suicide Squad 2, but you were almost dishearted at the thought that he didn’t tell you he was coming home.

Upon walking in your face quickly changed from an eager and excited grin to an expression of bewilderment as you saw a duffle bag laid carelessly in the entry hallway, with clothes spilling out of it. A half eaten pizza box adorned your kitchen island that you had spent the previous day cleaning (along with the rest of the kitchen). Jai’s keys were laid on the table and his jacket on the back of the couch in the living room.

No one greeted you when you walked in, which surprised you. Not even the light taps of Coopers nails on the hardwood floors to let you know that someone appreciated and acknowledged you coming home.

This was strange.

Usually after filming both Jai and Cooper would be waiting patiently on the couch for when you got home, both looking like lost puppies, one more so than the other.

“Jai, you home?” Dumb question. Of course he was home, his car was in the driveway. The question you should of asked was where he was.

You heard no noise in the house, other than the distant buzzing of a tv from somewhere in one of the other rooms.

“God, he could of at least cleaned this up.” Your eyes rolled and you began to pick up the various clothes and boxes, growing more annoyed by the fact that this is how he chose to make his appearance back home.

Finally you finished cleaning up went to get ready for bed, Jai still choosing not to make himself known yet.

You noticed the door of your all’s shared bedroom to be partially closed. Peculiar. You both hated closing that door.

You poked your head in, and were met with one of the most adorable moments to forever exist in your memory. Well, maybe not most adorable, but you would be teasing him about it for a while.

Jai was laying on the bed, passed out with his head face down in a mountain pillows. In his arms was your giant stuffed frog he had gotten you for Valentines Day one year, which he was currently squeezing tight to his chest.

“Ya know what, this is kinda cute,” you smiled and snapped a picture to capture the moment.

“S not cute,” Jai mumbled out.

“Oh c’mon it’s a little cute, now move over Jai!!” You complained, partially agrivated, pushing on his shoulder while standing by your side of the bed that he occupied. “You too Coop?” You asked exasperated but amused when you noticed your bulldog curled up beside Jai’s legs, snoring happily.

You giggled, “Why aren’t you cuddling Cooper? Instead you chose my plush frog?”

“He wouldn’t cuddle with me,” Jai whined out burring his face farther into the sea of pillows. “Typical dog, always did like you better than me.” He said, raising his head slightly to smile up at you.

“Well, mind if I take the place of that frog?”

“Not at all, sweetheart.” He pulled you down onto the bed, getting comfy immediately.

“Oh and just so you know, next time you leave the kitchen a mess then take my side of the bed, I will make you pay. This time is the only exception.” You whispered to him in a threatening tone.

“... hopefully you’ll make me pay in kisses and an abundance of flowers?”

“Not likely,” you snuggled closer to him, Cooper finally becoming aware of your presence and joining you up higher on the bed. “I love you anyways though.”

“I love you too.” He kissed the back of your head and all three of you drifted off to sleep.
