Favorite Supergiant Games Songs

So I promised someone I would do this and I am a woman of my word. So I went through and listened to every single song from Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and Hades and I have compiled a list of my top five favorite songs from each soundtrack.

Alright let’s go by release order.

Bastion

If you’ve never played Bastion, know that colonialism and prejudice are big themes of the game. “Build That Wall” is meant to touch on that a lot, so the lyrics make a lot more sense if you keep that in mind.

“But wait!” I hear you saying, “There’s seven songs listed for Transistor on your playlist!”

Yeah, well, I love all of the songs with lyrics from this game so much they would be numbers 1-5 if I was rating this list honestly. Which, to be fair, I could do but I did want the lists to be somewhat representative of the soundtrack as a whole, and Transistor also has a lot of great tracks without vocals in them. So I restricted myself to my two favorites and tacked two on at the end that I also love and really wanted to share.

Pyre is probably the soundtrack I’m the most conflicted on. The songs I love I really love but the songs I don’t love feel very meh to me. “Grand Ceremony” is probably the one I’ve changed my opinion on the most, though. It was originally one of my least favorites, but damn it fits the character it’s associated with so well. If you’re familiar with Three Houses then the guy gives me Academy Phase Lorenz vibes, if that gives you an idea.

The King and The Bull (x)

No I don’t love “Last Words” just because of Thanatos, it’s just a straight up bop. It’s hard to say which soundtrack is my favorite overall, but I do really love the soundtrack for Hades. It’s probably fighting with Bastion for first place, but I gotta let it settle in a bit more before I go making a decision on that. My only criticism: needs more Ashley Barrett solos!
