Well, i didnt have any particular clan in mind, however it is loosely based on the timberwolf/mad cat, so one idea i had is that rival clans tried implementing some of the timberwolf’s features into their mech design, or clan wolf tried employing skills they learned from developing the timberwolf in making the balisong.
The proposed role of the balisong is as a harrasser ment to support and make use of the heavy and assault mechs. Its weaponry is weak at range but it can run fairly fast, and up close it can deal some serious damage before darting out. Even if it doesnt do alot of damage in an attack run, it deals enough that it cant easily be ignored when it comes around the flank. The idea is to either distract the enemy mechs with the balisong, making them turn to face the balisong and leaving them exposed to a much heavier mech, or to appear as less of a threat than it is so enemy pilots ignore it, allowing it to come up in the rear and tear out the rear armor of its targets. The early Prime configuration doesnt mount an ECM, but later configurations would in order to help the Balisong sneak up behind targets. at the expense of firepower some variants would also use jump jets to make outflanking enemies and hit and run tactics just that extra bit easier.
I am really into battletech, and lately ive been on a bit of a battletech craze, and felt inspired to sketch up some sort of battletech-esque mech (might even use the battletech rules for building your own mechs to give this thing rules -sweats-). I am no way near as talented as the many mech artists ive seen drawing battletech stuff, but i am still reasonably proud over myself for this sketch. Havent given it a name, but it would probably, in battletech terms, be a 35-ton light omni-mech, or a medium omni-mech, probably sporting srms, some type of auto cannon and a few lasers, although probably at the expense of speed and/or maybe armor, which at its weight class obviously would be a rather risky thing to do.
I invite fans of Battletech (or mechs in general) to come up with your own sugestions and ideas for this mechs name and/or capabilities/specifications, i’d love to hear peoples thoughts.
hope you all enjoy! “And be safe mech-fans!”
i couldn't add this video to the original post but tHERE'S MORE
