I’m in Toffia, Italy as part of a month long artist residency facilitated by 33 Officina Creativa. I worked on a series of drawings incorperating local foliage, charcoal rubbings, and tracings. Here are some photos from the past couple of weeks!

Wrapped up week one and well into week two as an artist in resident at The Studios at MASS MoCA! Its been a while since I’ve make work in a traditional white-walled studio. I packed a few charcoal sticks, newsprint, some tape, and a couple of books! I’ve been more intentional about resourcefulness as process and letting that element take primary hold at this point. More to come!

Its a wrap at Cuttyhunk Island Artist Residency (CIAR)! Made life long friends, and spent the week working on small sketches and pushing the collaborative aspect in my practice. By far the most success piece from the residency was making a kite with Christina Graham and Grace Collette. There’ll be a post about the work later on--still need to process its weight.

Had a productive and sentimental last week at the Anderson Center at Tower View in Red Wing, Minnesota. I pulled some of my best prints yet, and felt really good to give them all away to friends I made during my two weeks there. I left a day early to meet with my family in Chicago, to then drive to Middlebury, Vermont to drop my nephew off for his first year in college. I packed a weeks worth of clothes, and art supplies that should last me until December. Im nervous, but excited to see what work comes from the limited supplies and smaller scale I’ll be working in. Next stop: Cuttyhunk Island Artist Residency--off the shores of New Bedford, Massachusetts!

Finished week one and am well into week two here at the Anderson Center at Tower View in Red Wing, MN. Lots of great food with a great group of talented artists, musicians, and writers. We celebrated yesterday with a good meal and drinks to say goodbye to a couple of residents who were leaving the center early. Looking forward to wrapping up my last week with work, food, and (hopefully) finishing Viet Thanh Nguyen’s “The Sympathizer”
