I need to reblog this quality information while explaining why I still follow a tight COVID protocol. You have no guarantee that you'll get through COVID unscathed, and we are constantly learning new things about long COVID. One parent and a friend dealt with brain fog far longer than a few weeks, and they aren't sure how long it'll last. One friend of mine has spent years convinced his body's neutral skin/oil scent smells like rotting onions, despite his wife assuring him that it's just a COVID side effect. I have many more firsthand stories like these. One disabled furry I talked to said a disabled furry group chat died because of too many COVID-related deaths. If you want to take on a personal risk, I get it. But not masking up and social distancing at events is forcing everyone else to take a risk they didn't sign up for. I have to go to these conventions for my survival, and in hopes of community building, no to party. Please, have fun if you're there for that, but be aware of your own temporary able-bodied status. Live long enough and you'll eventually be at risk no matter what. The safety of you and your loved ones is not guaranteed, but that's not all I'm talking about. Those facing the highest risk from COVID exposure often don't get to advocate for themselves where you get to see it. Your decision to unmask provides an unnecessary risk to others not dissimilar to driving under the influence. I want furries to truly care about each other, but we have a long way to go. We raise money for charity sometimes, but it's not always big-picture. Giving cops money for K9 Unit bulletproof vests or funding a luxury dog cancer charity proves we don't have a mature understanding of community development. We may be nice and have fun at conventions, but plenty of these furry cons still often allow military uniforms and cosplay. Plenty still drag their feet on safety measures and establishing safer codes of conduct. In short, The furry fandom has a long way to go before they set an expectation of honoring our disabled populations with our COVID protocol, at cons and at home. I want disabled, POCs, indigenous, d/Deaf, and other at-risk populations who are community-focused to lead the charge with how our fandom develops. Our white cis-gays furry con majorities should not be waiting until the aforementioned demographics beg them to care. Please don't wait until you're at risk or know a high-risk person to start caring. Treat them like they matter now by adopting a stronger COVID protocol. Their lives should mean so much more than the convenience of unmasking at room parties with no contact tracing and/or eating indoors whenever you feel like it. Personally, I'd feel like a hypocrite if I said "disabled people matter" but I couldn't be arsed to keep up a good COVID protocol. I know that's down to philosophical identities and that I can't judge your exact situation. My friends who unmask seem to be burnt out, out of spoons, and uninterested in the topic of COVID, and I understand. That illusion of normalcy, surrounded in a crowd, is compelling. And the US gov did not make it easy to access quality current info. (That's why this is the People's CDC and not the CDC--if that wasn't obvious.) I can't know your exact reason for unmasking, if this applies to you. I wish your motivations alone could protect disabled people, but they can't. If disabled people do matter to you, I beg you, prove it to us all by your actions. Mask up. Limit indoor time. Contact trace at parties. Let the voices at risk inform your time on this earth (need a suggestion? Start with Crutches&Spice). Protect the folks who are forced into risky situations while you enjoy a con at your leisure. My thanks. Stay safe out there, and see you when I see you. <3

Slut?
Great question. When I was a dumb Evangelical baby, I thought "slut" meant "any sexual expression outside of a heterosexual marriage". Now that I'm a dumb Exvangelical baby, it feels like hedonism must be a part of what constitutes being a slut. Example--if I was a full-service sex worker to support myself or my family, but I didn't anticipate any pleasure from my work obligations, that doesn't feel very "slutty" to me. But if my sex work included creating sexually explicit imagery, and I eagerly anticipated arousing others through art alone, that feels slutty. If I was working on my furry porn queue and felt no excitement or joy, that does not feel slutty. These days, I'm more slutty than ever before, because I've been having better and more frequent sex with my partners, I've been enjoying creating porn that's celebrating my own body, and I'm excited to trust others with the porn I create. To willingly objectify myself through art, sexually, while also articulating statements that demand more that sexual objectification of my readers, feels like an avenue that demands further exploration. Unfortunately, that writing + art combo exists almost exclusively on one of my Patreon tiers, an admittedly unslutty means of publishing. But after my first Night Market experience dressing erotically and sharing erotic artwork, I need more slutty affectations in my life. Maybe I'll make a side Tumblr for all this.

Yo! I saw you at TFF! Your art is so cool, I had no idea you had a Tumblr too!
Thank you! I made an account a long time ago but didn't use it much. I still haven't gotten to the point where I think to use Tumblr much at all, but maybe that will change.

Tomorrow is the last day of my big annual art sale! Thank you so much to everyone for the support so far!
If you didn't know, I also do a little original drawing on each order invoice we ship out (except for orders of only metal prints since those ship direct from the printer)-- you can see a Twitter thread of all the ones I've done so far here.

Commissioned by Biggest Little Fur Con for their 2022 glitch theme, painted almost entirely in Kidpix, with very minor touch ups in Photoshop.
This painting is always a favorite at conventions, and now I've got prints of it up in my store as part of my big annual sale!

A trio of coyotes! These are all commissions from the past four or so years-- all since I started living in the Southwest, where I get to see the real deal out and about from time to time (or more commonly, hear them.)
These are also all part of the big annual art sale I'm running right now to help cover some income gaps!

We currently have an art sale going on my store (and my partner Sasha’s store, as well). It’s not unusual for us to run one of these sales on a yearly basis, but this sale in particular is significant--after missing at least two big conventions this year, and as ever having no guarantee of getting into the the other big cons we rely on at the end of the year, we are having to scramble a bit to figure out how to cover the income gap. Paying members of any tier on my Patreon also get a 15% off promo code, which can easily pay for itself stacked on this sale. If you've always wanted to start a pledge, or it's been a while and you wanna see what you've been missing since your last donation, now's your chance!
Thanks for taking a look. Hope you find something you enjoy there.

In addition to giving our talk on Organizing in the Furry Fandom, at Further Confusion next week we will be giving the newest version of my partner @jonathanvair's classic 'Furry Stereotypes' talk:
2 Kinds of Dragons & Other Furry Stereotypes! on Friday at 10:30PM PDT in the Almaden room on the third floor.
This talk always fills the room, so bring your friends, come early for good seats, and be ready for a fun and insightful look at how we arrive at our choices of fursonas!

My partner @jonathanvair and I are giving our talk How Could We Organize in the Furry Fandom at Further Confusion for the first time!
This talk is about not just what the furry fandom is, but what it could be, if we decide that our priorities are about community rather than consumption, caretaking rather than coolness.
We've said it before but we'll say it again: This is the most important talk we've given to date, and if you'll be at the con, we hope you will come and see it!
The talk will be at 7pm PDT on Saturday in the Almaden room on the third floor.

i know hearing people on this website love to pass around those posts with links to free sign language lessons but you know you need to actually put effort into learning about Deaf culture, too, right?
