Illustration of Peach's bedroom from Paper Mario in a deliberately silly-looking style, from an official Japanese guide for the game.

In Donkey Kong Country 2, a severe glitch exists in the Castle Crush level where a barrel can cause any of an extremely large variety of glitch effects by being broken against a specific wall in the level.
One of these effects transforms the playable Kongs into a black sword (the sprite used for the Kleever boss, with a completely black palette). The sword, surprisingly, can still be controlled by moving left and right.
However, a Neek rat enemy will fall down from the top of the screen shortly after the transformation. In an unexpected interaction given how the sword visually appears much more dangerous than the rat, the Neek kills the sword instantly upon touching it.

ugh, I gotta go to work now, but ugh, I forgot how much of a pain it is to draw things that aren't hair
#i love drawing hair in my style because there's a much larger degree of ''i can just do whatever''#and the end result is just sort of a texture based on vibes contained within the outermost outline of the hair#but then i get to the face and body and it's like...the shapes suddenly never feel right and the Vibes Are Off#i'm doing a lot of the same things in terms of my pixel art process but it just feels worse to draw things with more defined shapes

Top: In Super Mario 3D World, rare enemies called Madpoles appear in a few levels. While they are named such because they gain an angry expression when seeing Mario next to them in the water, this creates an unintentional humorous effect when seeing their official artwork.
Madpoles only have two pieces of official artwork: a render from the game's guide (left) and a 2D drawing used as a Miiverse stamp in the Wii U version/sticker in the Switch version (right). In both of them, they have highly calm expressions making the name appear unfitting.
This is due to the fact that their original Japanese name is simply "タマオ" (Tamao), an anagram of "otama", the first part of the Japanese word for "tadpole", "otamajakushi" (also known for being the basis for the Otamatone musical instrument). As such, there is no reference to them being mad, making the artwork appropriate to the Japanese name.
Bottom: the actual mad expression of the Madpole that was used as the basis for the English name, for reference.

zooming through a few days' worth of posts all at once because I was, once again, sick this weekend
but! there is some good news! my workplace is finally giving me full-time status, including full-time benefits! so maybe I can get some new glasses and a new primary care doctor!
#i was hoping to get more done with my weekend only to get so sick that i slept on the bathroom floor#i feel so frustrated! i just wanna have a normal relaxing weekend!#today has been pretty nice but that's because i've been giving myself bed rest all day#i'd feel much better about the weekend if i'd been able to get more cleaning and such done yesterday#the appeal of the weekend is that i have more time and energy for the things that are important to me#but it's hard to find time and energy when you get that sick...
