The fashion of Renaissance has geographical peculiarities connected to urban centers. At the time, Florence was the most fashionable town. Décolletés were broadened, waistlines were marked with belts etc. […]

As opposed to the Roman fashion, which was still bound to the past through a Medieval archaic legacy. You’d hardly ever see a woman with a low-necked dress. Clarice Orsini is the typical example. We tried to narrate the character of this young woman compelled in Medieval dresses in order to highlight the difference between a more advanced environment, full of artists and colors, like the one in Florence, as opposed to the old-fashioned and conservative environment in Rome.

Milan was a completely different story, since it was already linked to other European centers. Thanks to the Sforzas, the Milanese fashion established a bridge to Europe. Bona of Savoy is the true example. While Florence invents its own fashion, which will make its own name throughout the world, Milan draws influence from Spain, France and Germany.
