I'm siphoning off my kpop content to a sideblog @kpopblorbo because I don't want my kpop flop posts on main for the sake of my dignity. It means I'll be able to react faster to ateez stuff on my sideblog because I won't have to worry about curating aesthetic. This blog will still be active. I'm a tumblrina through and through. It's bone deep at this point.

I've been feeling discombobulated with having to wait a whole week to purchase an album that has already dropped on all online platforms. KQ, you puzzle me but I'm trying to see the vision. I'm used to buying digipacks (which make Ateez chart eligible), but they haven’t done that this time. So much for breaking more UK records. I guess they weren't bothered this time even though we UK atiny still care 🥺
Anyhoo, HMV came through at the last minute and I managed to order a signed copy of Golden Hour Part 3, heat version! Obligatory screaming, crying, throwing up.
Soooo, if you wanna see my hot package and find out what I got hiding under here 😏 it's under the cut
EP Review
Lemon Drop
It's crazy to me that Ateez ALREADY have summer bangers in their locker (Wave, Eternal Sunshine, Dreamers, Diamond, to name a few), but they did it again. Lemon Drop is my favourite title track from the Golden Hour series by far. It captures a summer that I yearn for.
I want to be transported to the universe where the summers are warm but filled with refreshing citrus drinks and cool breezes, where everyone perspires in a cute way, and hot korean men are lounging in the pool. I'm experiencing British summer and I'm like eeeeeewwww the hot air is touching me!!!!! 😩 It's humid, sticky and gross as hell. I'm basically a swamp monster drowning in my own sweat. Not cute.
The video is hot in every sense. Everyone's artfully draped over a car bonnet, HJ is getting hotboxed in a car, Yunho is floating in sopping wet clothes that cling to every part of his lean body, Mingi's bent facedown over a car, Seonghwa abs, San's back... I'm melting just thinking about it.
I have a thing for backs. I wrote a post about Bang Chan, which, looking back on it, was clearly Bang Chan meta before I even knew the term.

Laundromats are inherently sexy places. All that slippery soap to make the water feel silky and bubbles for romance. Same for car washes. Just sexy as, which brings me to...
Masterpiece
The lyrics are absolute fifth and I love it. Quite a laidback groove which will make it an underrated track that delights you whenever you hear it.
This House Ain't a Home
Yeosang vocals coming in hot. I like the angst-y sad vibes. It makes a nice switch from the songs before it.
Castle
A mellow track that isn't as memorable to me as the other songs. However, I really like it. I suspect it needs a few more listens before it lodges in my brain. The production is very glossy 80s retro which Ateez excel at.
The Bridge
The sound effects are most intriguing! There's a security ding noise that you normally hear when you enter a certain kind of shop e.g. petrol station, a person screaming, a wibbly wobbly sci-fi type of noise that makes me think of a portal opening. Then, the "throw it back" vocal. What is going on here? I'm excited by the lore possibilities.
The overall impression is that I can enjoy listening to every track. I rarely play any of GH1. GH2 was a step up and GH3 joins it. My only gripe is that I wish for a whole albums that I can sink my teeth into but this is the kpop way lol. No one releases albums, it's all about the EP.
Hey, you said you'd show your package??
So i did.

I had to Google whose autograph I'd received and found out it belongs to Hongjoong! He always signs with the word ateez in his signature.
Hongjoong was my fan fairy; I have immense fondness for him. He was the first ateez member I reblogged on tumblr (ain't tumblr great for tracking hyperfixations?). I'm beyond pleased with my signed album. It feels really special. The signed copies are already sold out so I feel really lucky to have got my hands on one. If I really deep it I'll get emosh but yeah, it means a lot.
I'm a hotteok and my bias wrecker is Mingi so I'm stoked to have a Mingi PC. The San sticker is nice. The photos are much darker than I expected. Seems like someone cranked up the contrast as a stylistic choice. It's different, I'll give em that.
Minor gripe: the quality of the album feels cheaper and I've seen other atiny say the same. The album i bought before this one was fever: epilogue. The box for that is thick and hefty in my hands. The postcards are made of thick (most likely expensive) card, so they won't bend easily. They aren't the only company to do this. Skz albums got visibly lower in quality to the point I stopped buying them entirely. This is my recession indicator.
Overall though, Golden Hour 3 is a hit in my house. I'll be playing the songs, admiring my signed postcard and dreaming of lemon drop summers.
