As shown as an example Regine Petersen work follows a more absent from realism and more into the surreal. I am still fond of her work however I want to take the approach on portraiture.

My thoughts Lee Friedlander
In the studio we looked at different photographers work, in groups we compared our thoughts and opinions on the photographs we liked. Lee Friedlanders work stood out for me even if I didn't initially choose him during the group discussion. I got home to look at Regine Petersen but her work was too minimal and absent. i chose Lee Friedlander”s street photography as there were more relatable imagery of daily life and little things that made me smile. The man sleeping on the street draws attention to the people  in a very familiar way. To most people its something many of us have witnessed walking by. It seems like life hasn't changed.
The photo that initially peaked my interest in class was the shadow of Lee Friedlander behind a lady in a fur coat. To me the scene resembles an old soviet spy movie. I Love the grain I think it looks softer and i feel closer to the image.
The shadows sit nicely in this picture it was probably late afternoon hence the cars being present and crammed in the foreground. Photographing your subject without drawing attention of awareness and presence captures real to life attitudes of the individual. These images and a lot of Mark Cohen’s especially have moments in time captured with very surreal outcomes.
