The hug was actually nice and warm and made James feel a little nostalgic for a split second until his drunkenness kicked in again and removed all depressing thoughts from his brain. “YEAH! Of course I meant it! I only date pretty people, therefore your face must be pretty. I have excellent standards.” Which was true. Even though James flirted with everyone, he was picky about who he actually dated and fucked and Josh had ticked all the boxes. “Have you had fun? I’m a bloody good party planner.”

“Have I had fun?” Josh scoffed. Sure, the party was probably the most fun he had had in a while. But that was not particularly difficult. Josh’s days were spent doing school and his nights were spent doing prefect duties and working on his father’s things. Keeping himself busy did not constitute as fun, but Josh didn’t mind it all that much. He smiled widely. “It’s been alright. Just alright.” He winked.

It wasn’t like Lily was really that phased, after all a kiss was JUST a kiss and a dare was just a dare. After they pulled away she cracked the other a grin, “Good thing Rita Skeeter isn’t here. Knowing her she’d put it to the tabloids that you’re Potter hopping.” The ginger teased before sighing and rolling her eyes, “My mates thought it’d be funny. They aren’t very good at this whole truth and dare bit.”

“Potter hopping-,” Josh looked down and laugh. “My father’d have a heart attack.” He took a sip of his drink and looked back up at her. “No, no, it was a good dare. They probably got a good laugh at it. You’ll just be the one to explain it to your brother when everyone starts to open their mouths.”

A voice interrupted her pep talk, only to see a drunk person next to her. Dom scrunched her nose at the heavy alcohol smell lingering in the air around him. “None of your business, Corner. Go get yourself sober before you actually talk to me. I can’t bother talking to drunkards.”

Josh blinked several times slowly, trying to process what was going on, and then pulled away quickly. "Kissing your brother's ex boyfriend. Ballsy." He shrugged, “I’m cool with that not happening again though, thanks.”

“Sneaky, sneaky best friend. That’s my favorite trick in the book-,” he gestured to her empty cup. He’d pulled it many times at his dad’s events. Usually it involved ingesting a liquid of a kind- asking bartenders to water down his drinks, pretending apple juice was really firewhiskey, that sort of thing. But tonight he was 110% drinking the real deal. “Water’s great Ro, but I don’t wanna sober up. I’m having loadsssss of fun. Did you see your cousin tonight- he looks- really fucking good.”

When Josh approached him, James’ face lit up with pure JOY. Seeing his ex should have put a downer on his mood but it simply brightened him even more. James also put his hands on Josh’s shoulders and giggled before realising how stupid they probably looked with their hands on each other’s shoulders. Even so, James didn’t make an effort to move them. “I KNOW I did good. This party is fucking lit. And so am I.” He giggled and then decided it would be a great opportunity to hug Josh, so he did. “Glad you came. Would have been rather shit without your pretty face here.”

Somewhere inside of him, sober & rational Josh was livid and screaming at him for being here in the first place when he new better. He was yelling to no, stay the fuck away from James Potter, who used you as a prop to reveal his sexuality to the world. Stay away from James Potter, spawn of the family that your father cannot stand. Stay away from James Potter, as arrogant and extra as a man could be. But when he was pulled into a hug, drunk Josh knew that rational Josh wasn’t going to win this one. He missed receiving James Potter sized hugs. Before he let himself get too caught up in the other’s embrace, he pulled away. He still rested one of his hands on James’ shoulder. “You mean it? You think I’m pretty and the party would have been shit without me?”

“Don’t be judgmental. It’s been a rough seventeen years.” He lifted a finger as if he were correcting her. This was a lie. He had never intended to not drink. These things were safe havens. A place where he could get publicly plastered while not worrying if someone was taking pictures in the back or if it would somehow get back to his father. “How much have you had then? Not anywhere near me.” He sighed and then hiccuped.

Elizabeth smiled and kissed his cheeks. “Oh well aren’t you a sweetheart.” She said with a giggle. “So you had much to drink tonight?” She asked looking at him.

“Me? I can control myself- I haven’t had much at all.” Which was an obvious lie because if he had been sober he wouldn’t be anywhere near her- let alone allowing the physical contact. “No, I’m- i’m perfect. Peachy. That’s me- Peachy Perfect Prefect Joshua Michael Corner.”

Lucy stood in the corner of the room with a bottle of water – yes, a bottle of water. The fifth year witch had been known for the vocality she had in her dislike of alcohol, in particular – firewhisky. Other things she had been very vocal on disliking: breaking the rules and parties. Which is why it would be so odd to see her at a bash like this under any other circumstances. But, known more to everyone than her dislikes, Lucy was very close with her cousin James. She would call him one of her best friends and he would call them part of a “squad” within gryffidor. Just the term was something that Lucy found silly but she went along with it because keeping her friends happy was just a big priority of hers as becoming a magical lawyer was. So she stood, sipping her bottle of water through a straw and watching the antics of the growingly drunk witches and wizards around her. “How can anyone think that’s fun?”

"They seem to be enjoying themselves-," Josh said, drunk in hand. He wasn't enjoying himself, but drunk Josh was beginning to take over and drunk Josh was a fun Josh. "I take it you're not drinking then?" Not a ounce of judgement bled into that statement. It just meant more alcohol for him. “I guarantee you’ll be the only one who doesn’t walk out of here tonight without having made some drunken mistake then.”

Dom stood near the drinks table with of course, an alcohol in her hand. As she sipped on her drink slowly, she noticed something missing. Something that she was good at and that was drama. Unfortunately, she was able to start one so as to not ruin her sister and cousin’s party. Sighing loudly, she swirled her glass while watching others having fun with their friends. “It’s alright, Dom. You pick the badass life. You have to pay for the price somehow,” she mumbled under her breath.

Josh, tipsy from the copious amount he'd been able to drink already, was standing along the wall, looking for someone he actually wanted to talk to when he heard a voice. A Weasley cousin, not one he'd ever particular cared for, but not one he usually talked to either. "What was that? Who's paying prices?"

Elizabeth had been having so much fun already at this party. There was good music and alcohol which she had already drunken a lot from. You could say that she might be a little drunk or very drunk but it was a party so whatever. She just walked up to a random person and put there arm around them. “Heyyyyyy so are you having a good time here?” She asked with a little giggle.

Feeling an arm around his neck paired with an all too familiar voice, he squinted as he turned to her. This didn't make any sense but very little did to drunk Josh, who's main prerogative was to drink as much as he could. He rolled his eyes down to her and link his hand with the one across his shoulder. "Better now." Somewhere inside of him, sober Josh was cringing.

Josh had spent the better part of his night downing alcohol in the corner, chatting quietly with whoever approached. He felt the need to be there, as a prefect, to make sure things were going alright and that nobody got hurt. However, a tipsy Josh was a useless Josh because he couldn’t find it in himself to care for anyone not in his usual circle. After his cup was once again empty, he cut through the room to get more to drink, and stumbled into a familiar face.

“Oh, heyyyy Jamie.” Cute boy. Cute ex-boyfriend. Still cute. Josh placed his hands on James’ shoulders to steady himself, he left his hands there. “This is a good, great party. Ya’did good.”

Parent Relationship: Josh has a lot of respect for his parents and also respects the vision they have for the wizarding world and his place in it. Michael serves as Senior Undersecretary within the ministry. Jessica did a lot of networking while also raising and homeschooling the kids. Being the eldest after the death of his sister, Josh became close to his mother, doing everything he could to ensure that he wasn’t a problem. When Josh’s mother died of a rare wizarding disease, he was devastated. His father was in the middle of a campaign that Josh had a part in running. Josh was not close to his father as a child, as his father was always at the office. He’s never resented his father for this. Josh has always worked to make Michael proud of him and for the most part it has worked.

Sibling Relationship: Josh was born the year after the eldest Corner child, Julia. They were close as children. On a family holiday (which was really just Jessica taking care of the kids on a beach while Michael stayed at home) Julia and Josh were exploring the rental home’s basement and set off fiendfyre within the home.
