The New Year, is here. Right now. And, today, I'd ask you "which goals from last year did you accomplish, and which of those are you forced by guilt, new hope, or cultural norm, this day, to take another try?" Whether you look back with regret, and are presently mustering the resolve needed for mile one of "new try", or you're bounding forward and up, toward the next "highest peak" you've not yet conquered. I challenge you to see every single day, as you do every New Year's Day, in order to see that each of those days, in every moment, and with every new insight, there is a new chance at correcting Today's shortcomings, and enhancing Today's victories. The choice of how to proceed after one's humanity's resolve-killing machine kicks in on or around January 10th is up to each individual alone. Blessings, to you and yours for this new year. But, also, challenges that result in resolve that pushes beyond the new year. Hope for something other than temporal helps. And, tenacity to do what is needed to know how to define where our weaknesses and strengths lie.

Today, not too long before the pretty, frozen rain droplets start to flutter to the ground, I sit and recall not so far back in my mind's eye, when I had this sight etched in my memory as a sun shower's droplets were "frozen" by the release of my shutter. Good morning, just thought that I would share the amazing fact that last month I was privileged enough to be asked by my great friend @captkid72 to do a video project/photography project to capture the closing moments as he added the finishing touches to a 3 1/2 year, 400 hour project to make this mysterious wonder ship. She stands nearly 9 feet tall with her base, and 6 feet long. Every single part was hand-picked from local scrapyards. Isn't she stunning? Solid work, Mr. Kidwell. Today, it's exactly two weeks on the road. We'll be back in Minnesota this Friday (we're shooting an all day, all night outdoor wedding at a giant farm Saturday/Sunday). But, we'll only be around for those two days. Then, it's off to Wisconsin for a few more, to deliver a piece of artwork that we hauled from California's central coast (picture soon). Anyhow, last week, my new extended family took my wife and I on a three hour kayaking trip down the Salt River. There's hundreds of wild horses that call that beautiful stretch of Arizona, home. I personally counted twenty-eight horses during our adventure. Here's a snapshot I snagged, with my Canon 5D (Yes, I was THAT brave), of a small family of these beautiful creatures. I never considered myself to be a "cat person". In fact, if you'd asked me a year ago, I'd have tried to convince you of the opposite (now I unashamedly have three). Not that I hated them, but I found myself thinking thoughts like they were too moody, or that they only wanted to hang out or be loving when they were feeling up to it. But, what I've discovered, is that they are so much more. In fact, they're just like us in many ways. It's not ironic to me that light glistens so vibrantly in one eye of my little buddy, Mr Ronald "Squeaks-a-lot" Weasley (ps, it's just Weasley), while the other, somehow, still, casts a stark shadow of sadder realities known only to the soul which experienced those realities. And I find myself, many times, just as vulnerable, and in need of love and clarity and understanding of the world around me, while still knowing that only I, and only I, will know what makes me the things that I so vividly am. This little guy is the most loving creature I've encountered, who endured what, for him, was the hard reality of being in and out of shelters for seven years, neglected, ever fearful, warring with attachment issues, induced by things such as the cruel and inhumane declawing procedures that rendered him defenseless and unable use his claws for articulating objects, or even just unable to scratch, on his own, that spot underneath his chin that he loves so much to have mom scratch. So, today, when whatever reality you are experiencing, presently, just remember that it didnt't slop the light from glistening in Weasley's eyes. So, live through the regrets, and own them. But, aslo, glory in each triumph, personal accomplishment, or acquisition of love, success, or whatever else you find yourself needing. But, be proactive enough take neither the regrest or the triumphs too seriously, while at the same time understanding the gravity and meaning of both, to you individually. Oh, and get all the cuddles you can, cause it's where the warmth comes from in this cold world. #industriesoftheforest #thisismyminnesota #artofvisuals #midnightmemories #minnesota #catsofinstagram #ilovemycat #petstagram #instacat
