I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Vivian Trimble, Luscious Jackson's keyboardist and backup singer. They've inspired me a hell of a lot this year, and it's crazy to think that one of them is gone. Her keyboard playing was a wonderful touch in their music! I really love her little piano part and even more so, the badass wah-piano in "Angel," my favorite song of theirs. I also love her piano on "Strongman," her keyboard parts on "Take A Ride," and her mellotron in "Water Your Garden" and "Soothe Yourself," especially. I love her duo with Jill Cunniff, Kostars, as well!

Anyway, she was only 59 and lost a battle to cancer. Rest in peace, Viv! I'll certainly never forget you!

I meant to make another Robby Steinhardt post yesterday. Can't believe he's been gone for a year! He's one of my idols. He seemed like such a soft-spoken, kind dude, like a friendly giant sort of person. I think his cool hair is part of what made him look so big. He's my favorite violin player, and had a wonderful, underrated voice! I love the contrast between him and Steve, when they sang together. It's one of my favorite sounds in the world! He provided a key element in Kansas' unique sound, with his outstanding violin playing. I know Robby commands the lightning's hand from heaven now. I'll never stop saying it!

Figured I'd post a song with some of his amazing lead vocals and harmonies with Steve. There's some nice violin on this one too!

Journey was outstanding!!! They played a lot of songs I was hoping they would. I cried during "Mother/Father." My parents are divorced and I love the heartfelt lyrics. Hearing it on the record (Escape) always made me feel like Steve Perry knew what I was going through, so hearing it live was unreal! Hearing Neal Schon's beautiful, wailing solos live was something else! Seeing Toto was quite something too! Their newer keyboard player was really cool! Same with Journey's Jonathan Cain, of course. Seeing him do a solo was awesome, and I wasn't expecting it! I had a wonderful time watching and singing along with some talented, old bands that I love with my mom!!

And here's my much overdue photo drop of Chicago. I couldn't believe how much energy the original members still had! It was a phenomenal concert! They played the entire "Ballet for a girl in Buchanon" medley, which was my absolute favorite part. I hit a deer (the only animal I've ever hit) on the way to the concert while listening to "Beginnings," and they played it at the concert too. It was scary, but I wasn't hurt and I'll always think about it and laugh when I hear that song now. I tried to tag everyone I knew I remembered seeing, but I'm sure I missed a couple people. I'm much more familiar with the classic lineup, so please forgive me!

Ha, should've done this a long time ago! 😆 Here's some pictures I took of Kansas when I saw them in December. They aren't the best quality images ever, but they're what I got. It was probably my favorite concert I've seen so far! They played some stuff from their new album, various songs from 12 different albums (Icarus, Song for America, Lonely Wind, and Miracles out of Nowhere were some of my favorites), and the entire Point of Know Return album (my favorite one).

Kerry is one of the most inspiring musicians to me. I love his interesting guitar riffs, but even more so the glorious sounds of his keyboards! Oh, and his incredible lyrics too!

Robby Steinhardt's debut studio album, and only one for that matter, comes out on the 25th. I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it. Absolutely love his voice and of course the beautiful sound of his violin! May he rest in peace and command the lightning's hand!

I want to grow my hair out like Robby's! Honestly, I'd rather have his talent though. He's got a wonderful voice and he's my favorite violinist.
