From Time Out Market we headed out to find ourselves some Lime scooters. Thankfully, there was a pretty legit bike lane we could use that ran along the coast for us to get to Dock 1 at the marina where we were planning to catch our sunset cruise.
It was smooth sailing (not literally cause we hadn’t gotten to the boat) until we got pretty close to our destination. But at one point it looked like Maps was directing us to get on the highway. A kind runner helped us realize there was an underground walkway for us to get to the docks. We abandoned the scooters and walked the rest of the way…

***Insert pics of GimeOut market
After arriving at The Ivens, a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, we headed out for a quick walk around town before heading to the docks to what we thought was going to be our group sunset cruise. Time Out was super cool (Ponce City Market vibes). Their website describes it as “a magazine you can eat.”
Of course, I had to get sushi. Rhine ordered a prosciutto mushroom pizza that we both INHALED. We tried some traditional “croquetas” - but ngl, they were pretty gross. The fried exterior was much thinner than expected and the meat inside was completely puréed. But hey, we tried them.

Porto > Lisbon
Definitely thought this was a non-stop train to Lisbon. ‘Twas not. On the train ride, which thankfully had wifi, so I went to work on booking our last minute tour plans for our Lisbon visit. Read the post about our sunset cruise for deets…
We purchased first class tickets thinking it’d be significantly nicer. Also, ‘twas not. 🤦🏻‍♀️ the ticket said there were meals for sale on the train so I thought “aw, yay, there will be a little cafe on board.” Nope. There was a grumpy lady selling sandwiches in bags and sodas. There was a bag (like, full party size bag) of kettle corn for sale for £3.80, which of course, I bought for myself and ate like a little piggy - half on the train and then the other half on the plane from Lisbon to London.
3.5 hours after boarding, we made it to Lisbon.

Our nighttime extravaganza at The Yeatman…
The adventure to buy cigs, £80 lemon drop shots, balcony dance party… and several bottles of wine, playing dead on some crate decor in the corridors… and who knows what else. We made it a night to remember (or forget, actually - but together, we pieced it together).
The cigs were a must while drunk in Europe. The hotel had a vending machine, but it didn’t give change. And all we had was a £50. When we checked in, a suite hotel staff member, Diogo, showed us to our room. He was still on shift when me and Lana were on the hunt for these lung cancer causers. The reception didn’t have change (for some reason), so he offered to GIVE us £5 of his own money which I promised to pay him back (I totally did, upon checkout). Then, another female staff member had to escort us to the cigarette vending machine to help us work the damn thing. For some reason the damn buttons weren’t working. Not that we have a preferred brand - cause you know, we don’t usually smoke - but the first three boxes we tried to select didn’t work. But eventually, we got our drinks cigs and were set for the evening.

Piñhao - Duoro Valley River Cruise
We boarded this one-hour long cruise through the river with our new pals. Of course, we had to buy a bottle to drink onboard. And OMG, the hour flew by. We spent the ride getting to know our new friends, sharing our meet cute stories, the whole shebang. It was a great time!

Random shit we learned on our wine tour…
Supposedly, wine soup is a traditional bfast in the valley for field workers.
We booked our tour the evening prior. Upon arriving at the meeting point (a church at the center of town), we asked the various guides “are we in your tour.” During that process we found another couple* with the same tour info - so we stuck together to figure out the sitch. Finally, we were directed to the eFun tour guide, Rita. Rita was a sassafras. She did roll call for this big tour group and pointed them to the big tour bus. She started separating out some people (which we assumed were being split up because of their ability to walk - aka they were old), but then WE were part of the chosen group. Rita asked “are you with them” - the other couple - and I was quick to say “yes. Oh, sorry, but you’re stuck with us.” So we ended up in a smaller more intimate… van tour (vs the big tour bus) which I was happy about. We were with two other couples: one from Lithuania and another from Massachusetts.
While we waited - watching the tour bus drive off - Rita explained there was a group that had the private(r) tour that added people but wanted to be together, so the tour operators “traded groups” so the larger group could go in the tour bus. While she was explaining, she asked the group “do you like beards?” I immediately said “no.” Turns out that was her way of assigning our tour guide, victor.
*This other couple, Lana and Jacob, ended up being our Porto BFFs.

Amazing dinner at this Italian spot I came across on Google Maps: La Salumeria. We arrived there at 9:20 in hopes of scoring a table only to find out there was a 40-minute wait. The host told us to come back at 10 PM Sharp… Or else he would give away our table. After seeing the current clients’ dishes, we were more than willing to wait.
We wandered around for 30 mins, came back early to avoid losing the table and weren’t seated until 10:08. Which, btw, how the heck do restaurant people estimate those wait times?!? Who the ef knows if table 8 is gonna eat slow AF or if table 13 will order dessert and linger around. Idk!
We were totally patient and had no issues in our 8-minutes delay. Once we did get seated, we plopped into our seats besides a nice Canadian couple. We talked shop (marketing vs advertising), kids etc.

I got a massage at WeDo Massage right steer it tuk tuk ride. It was a great bang for my buck. It was a shared space separated by curtains. I paid €60 for 60 minutes of a combo massage (Swedish, Shiatsu, Thai… the works).
