ROI Mastery Journal
My three original expectations of this course would be learning about Return on Investment. I expected to learn about metrics and how to track measurement on a successful PR campaign. I also expected to take what I learn and apply it to my professional pr career. Three things I learned in ROI this month were Smart goals, KPI’s and SEO Strategy. I learned so many thing in ROI that would use the enhance the success of my business. I want to focus on would be building my Instagram business page through brand awareness, driving more traffic to my website for paid consultations, and creating my personal individual brand as an entertainment Publicist helping upcoming professionals with resources I did not have entering this industry. The specific KPI I would use for my Instagram business page would ‘social media traffic.’ I would use my Instagram business page analytics to track my page views, follows, likes, shares and engagement. I would use ‘website traffic’ KPI to measure the amount of people visiting my website daily and what target audience I’m drawing in. Is it more women or men? What’s the age range of this audience? Lastly, I would use ‘conversion rate on call-to-action content’ KPI as I plan on selling PR templates, kits, and contact lists on my website for upcoming professionals. I want to strategize a launch of my pr tools on my website and measure the sale by the projected sale end date. ROI taught me influential tools to help better my business in reassuring my clientele I know what I’m talking about, and I can track and measure my goals for myself and my clients. Using the tools that have been provided to me, I want my clients to get measurable success. This class has taught me how to measure success and that kind of information is invaluable.

Mastery Journal (Innovative Public Relations Tools and Resources)
Innovative Public Relations Tools and Resources is a class that had to grow on me. I spent time facing certain challenges in the beginning that I believe I learned from. Challenges concerning turning my work in on time because it hugely impacted my grade. The materials learned in this class were heavily beneficial to my brand. I actually learned how to take my brand a step further by conducting videos and editing them with iMovie. I have only worked with the iMovie feature via iPhone. Through my iPhone the app was very bland. After taking this course I believe I mastered the MacBook version of iMovie which was more versatile and had more functions. My favorite assignment in this course was Global Social Events. I thoroughly enjoyed discussing the United Airlines incident and the Pepsi commercial. I remember witnessing both of these events via social media but never took initiative to think about the events in greater depth. This specific course subject allowed me to think as a Public Relations Professional. Aside from not being sure about if I was going about assignments the right way, overall, I understand the course content. We learned techniques, skills, resources, apps etc. all to help produce quality content. Gary V. spoke about being a social media influencer and ultimately gaining a large audience by appealing to others interests as well as your own. The Online Rock Stars discussion post was enlightening. I had been following Gary’s techniques about gaining an audience by using hashtags, but I don’t reach out to people 4-5 hours out of the day. I’m curious to try this approach see if I can gain a larger following via social media. My professor was very honest and open when it came to mistakes made on assignments and I’m grateful. I felt challenged but I’m happy I’m being pushed to my fullest potential as a PR professional.

Review for Asana
Asana is an app that promote organization for the average working individual. Within the app you can create tasks, to-dos, reminders and ideas. You can link the app with co-workers while working together on projects and tasks. Asana enables you to be able to stay on task and complete work from anywhere. I love the app because personally I’m “all over the place” when it comes to my work. As a PR professional I must maintain the skill of organization when it comes to balancing clients and consumers. I also like this app because I can communicate with my VP about tasks we have to handle and do so accordingly. Aside from being a PR professional, I’m also a freelance writer and sometimes it gets hectic balancing all my to-dos, so I find this app helpful in that aspect as well. Another great feature would be how the app notifies clients about meetings. I haven’t truly found anything I dislike about the app just yet so in the meantime I would rate it a 5 out of 5.

 Installation
The app is only compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS 10.0 software or later. I have an iPhone and the app was very easy to install. The sign-up process took no more than 3 minutes. I’m still learning how to master all of the features.
 My “Wish App”
If I had to choose any type of app to create I would want to go with a calendar app. I know it sounds very basic, but it has greater depth. I want to design a calendar app called Quality Calendar with all urban celebrity hip-hop events. As CEO of Premier Quality, my company caters to up and coming music artists and blogging about current celebrity album releases. Too often I find it hard when traveling to a new city, a place to visit or a concert to attend. I want to create a go to calendar for people who travel to different cities and help them find a fun event to attend. There are apps like event brite but this app is not appealing when filtering to find exactly what you are looking for. My calendar will be strictly targeting the urban audience. I would like to filter my calendar by dates and cities. I also want to incorporate any events held by Premier Quality. Hopefully one day I will be able to incorporate this app to my website to bring a bigger audience to my overall brand.

I thoroughly enjoyed my “Legal Aspects of Media” course. Although law has never been my strong suit, I believe it is very important being as though I am a young public relations professional. What we learned in this course has been very profitable in my future career. It helps save you a lot of money if you know the law to prevent people from suing you or knowing when you can sue another individual. My favorite assignment I this class had to be when I learned about defamation. I am a writer and although I may not do many interviews about my feelings towards others, I do write blog posts about celebrity news and gossip. It is important that I know slander and libel are two different forms of defamation. Slander being said, and libel being written. I never want to put myself in a position of writing nonfactual blogs and be sued for it at a later date. The copyright assignment was the most helpful because the copyright form we did in week 2 taught be how to copyright my own literature. As I stated before I am passionate about writing, so it is always good to learn how to protect my work from being stolen. The knowledge I learned in this course will definitely protect me from legal issues because we discussed common factors that take place in the lives of communications professionals. None of us are perfect but learning the laws of defamation, copyright, and commercial speech will help you along your journey in this field as we all aspire to be great. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and plan to implement all facts learned from this course into my daily career. I also loved how my professor gave extensive feedback on my assignments, so I can correct my mistakes in the future. I can’t wait to continue to my next course as each course teaches me how to be an even better PR professional.

I thoroughly enjoyed Writing for Interactive Media. One of my favorite pastimes has always been writing. This course just taught me how to write for a field I’m currently pursuing. Being that I have started my own PR company, I need to master the skills of writing for online outlets. This class has taught me how to conduct proper interviews and learn how to quote my source correctly. My favorite adventure in this class was working on my About Me page. I never really dug that deep into an about me before and I’m happy my professor helped me tackle exactly how I need to do it. I plan on taking this class a step further by using the skills I have learned in this course to better serve my current and future clients. For example, I am now able to notice some of the things I have been doing incorrectly when writing for social media so from now on I plan to make the necessary changes. I have saved some of the resources from my course of study such as scriptwriting for news. I plan to script write for entertainment news and feature it on my blog. Another helpful tool was the writing and editing tool. I take my writing very seriously and I’m very passionate about it. Anything new I can learn to benefit me in writing will always be resourceful. I love criticism and I love being informed about anything that can be helpful for me in the long run. I would like to thank my professor for giving me such detailed feedback whenever I turned in assignment as it helped me understand in great depth my mistakes. Having the educational security, I need to move forward in my journey of obtaining my master’s has me so grateful that im one step closer to my dreams.

I enjoyed Public Relations in a Digital world, primarily because I always wanted to start my own PR company, so I learned a lot of useful things in the course that I can also apply to my personal business. I’m actually very excited to announce that I already started my business last week with the help of the course and finally taking initiative to get my website up with my business partner. The website is premierqualitpr.com! My favorite assignment is the course was the press release. The PSA came second. The reason I enjoyed the press release is because I finally learned the proper way to execute one for my future endeavors. The most helpful course topic had to be the PSA. Reading about Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs definitely helps when learning what route, you want to take when engaging your audience in content. I kept the Maslow’s page for future reference when coming up with commercial content for my business brand. The knowledge I acquired in this course definitely helped me put things in perspective as the course acted as a guideline for my own personal business ventures. The website assignment allowed me to dig deeper in website builder searches. I used site builder because they fit the needs of my business especially because they allow you to have a blog, email, and ecommerce store. I researched events and how to throw a launch party for my business, now I know how to effectively create a press release for any event I chose to have. Although I’m not very into the camera, I have learned how to do a proper PSA and use Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs to engage my audience. I’m so grateful for this course as it has helped me grow in more ways than one and gives me the educational security I need to move forward in my business. Thank you!
