My respect for everyone participating in the student movement and encampments is profound and anything is better than apathy or doomerist complacency, but the simple historical fact is every time people have occupied a public space, declared it "liberated"/"autonomous", and done nothing to expand power beyond their "autonomous zones" while waiting for the inevitable crackdown of the state it has not lasted for more than months and provided no material basis for revolution or even reformist gains. It's quite plainly suicidal and defeationist organizing.
