Flipping to Blender!
Yeah I said I am going to Zbrush! The ultimate sculpting tool. But I don't want to abandon my knowledge and the time I spent learning Blender. I'm kinda heading towards game design props and sculpting.
The goal is to sell assets for games! I think Blender with the courses I learned and the new one I got will helped me attained that goal!
Now that Blender 4.5 have release it's a good time to learn it. Also an Ipad support. This will be awesome.
And another goal is to teach this knowledge with my youtube vlog about learning Blender!

Flip flopping learning sculpting
Tumblr media
Ok in the past 6 months I have been learning 3 sculpting apps, Blender, 3dcoat and Zbrush. Flip flopping like Leonie said... I am crazy to get into this. I have been fighting with myself on which is the better one or which will give me a good youtube career. Yeah. It's been a crazy 6 months.
I have finished courses on all of them though, I learned a lot not gonna lie. But I really need to focus on 1 now on this last half of the year. Get good at that.
I decided today that it's much better to focus on Zbrush. it's no doubt the best sculpting app. I just keep going back to the 2 because 3dcoat is the underdog and blender will be great as a youtube contents... But Yeah. I decided to just go for the best one. Get good at that then make a youtube content. This is the best bet to get freelance work too. I need to finished the course fast track with the character. Finish the project and make due and moving forward in creating a artstation project. Anyway on my flipflopping I learning blender course about character. Now I get some context on making it.
Sorry for no post the past months too. Like I said I got suck up on the learning. Anyway on the weekend I decided to go back to last year's project but moved it to Blender and apply my knowledge on anatomy to reshape it much better. I think i will abandon this again but promised to get back to it once I get better in zbrush hardsurface modeling.
Ok that's about it. Random rambling and update. I will try to get back posting here again. Cheers!

Ok been a while since my last post. Honestly I have trying to learn Zbrush and trying to go back to 3dcoat. Fighting myself and kinda confused on what to learn. But ultimately I decided to push myself learning Blender. Going back pushing myself to finished the course. I think I finally get it. I'm kinda happy on this one. moving on the anvil again for the 4th or 5th time failing.

3dcoat for sculpting and Blender for the other things
I got 3dcoat and I find it much more intuitive using it for sculpting. I decided to just focus on that when I'm sculpting. So my new post here will be now be both 3dcoat and Blender.
Glad 3dcoat and Blender are great working together thanks to the applinking addon for Blender. So this will be a seamless process!

Saving time not rendering the lessons. Not as perfect as the instructor's but I'm happy with this one. learning so much. The workflow is kinda juggling task but I'm getting the hang of it somehow. I love to try making this on 3dcoat and compare which is better. For sure 3dcoat brushes will suck but I will try again...

Ok, i'm on the sculpting chapter now. ugh... I'm kinda struggling on this one. Oof.. This one took me so much time to make. So much trial and error. To the point decided to do it on 3dcoat. 3dcoat's navigation is amazing but the brushes sucks. Haha.
Yesterday I was thinking on jump the shark and just learn Zbrush too. But I need to push myself and get to learn Blender. Decided to give it another go today and decided to add shortcuts on the different common brushes used in the course. Remap the Remesh shortcut to Enter too. So that is the result. Not as good as the teacher but I'm kinda getting there. I still need to put on more hours learning sculpting but yeah. Doing my best.

The cool thing about Blender is the amount of tutorials it have in Youtube like this golfball one! Somehow I learn so much on this short video. Saving the link here for my reference just in case I forgot about the tip. https://youtube.com/shorts/8jy-ZxSbxPY?si=zxz0zGjUjmavqrmM
Hopefully next time I could make a tutorials too to help others

Oh yeah. I didn't Blender have some dynamics built-in! And it was easier than I expected it to be. Refereshing not to look for Simulation tags like Cinema4d. Finally getting to know all those small icons in blender does.
This wraps up the organic modeling chapter of the course I'm following along. Moving on to the next chapter!

Piggy bank exercise from the course! Great tips on sticking objects like the eyes! That's pretty tricky in Cinema4d.
