I don't know if it's because I've never been into what's considered the new best show on TV every other week or because American television has been on the decline, but all the shows I've been watching recently are shows on Netflix from other countries.
Within the last month, I've watched Squid Game, Alice in Borderland, Sweet Home, and My Name. And I've loved each of them more than any show I've watched in the last 3 years.
Next on my list is Vincenzo (I heard one episode gets insanely gay and I'm here for that) and Hellbound (it just looks cool).
If there are any other really good non-US shows on Netflix I should look at, recommend them to me.

I've just finished binge watching Hellbound yesterday night. This kdrama is actually really good on portraying about how a religion starts to crawl its way into a society, gains followers and shapes the life of a new society all around
It also shows how terrifying it would be if someone goes by blind faith and becomes a fanatic who is willing to do anything and everything in the name of the great meaning behind the religion, even if it involves killing another human being for it

I found this post on TV time website and it sums up how i feel about this issue in general
For a long time, I've been thinking about how there are so many religions out there. The old ones who have been forgotten through the passage of time and the ones who are widely followed now. How does a religion start? Why do people follow the religion? There are many concepts of after life, which one is true? Is there even an after life? Why are some religions now forgotten?
I've been pondering about these questions for some years now and the conclusion i reached is that people need to have meaning in life and a theory to explain things that are simply unexplainable at the time. People also needs reasons about why some stuffs, especially the horrible ones, happened.
Religion gives comfort and a sense of safety to people.
It's simply comforting to know that there are force bigger than all of us who are in control of our lives and everything happens for a reason and for the betterment of everything all around. It's also comforting for many of us whose our loved ones passed away and we have these hopes of meeting them again afterwards. That after we died, it isn't the end of everything. That there is something more after that and we just simply didn't vanish from existence
I don't claim that i have it all figured out. This is merely my own conclusion from years of pondering. We as human beings seek comfort by instinct and religions gives that. Religions exists when there are society who follows and shares the said religion's teachings. I guess that's also why when an old empire collapsed, sometimes a religion that had only been taught at that region also vanished and got forgotten as time passed
I don't know much about God and whether God truly exists or not. Afterlife could exist or it could also not. At the end of the day, everything depends on someone's faith and what they chose to believe. There are many people who debate about "the real" religion and fight over whose religion is right. For me personally, as long as someone doesn't hurt others by what they believe in, I'd say that what they believe in is good and that's enough.
Religion has always been a sensitive issue and how the New Truth religion arises in Hellbound kind of gave me more in depths perspectives to think about. This has been a very long text lol, I'm sorry🤣🤣

i simply don't want to hear a word about "hellbound is not realistic" when all the issues addressed are what we are experiencing — skipping the "monsters" part.
they exposed a person's identity and judged her for her "sins", they put an innocent person and her children in front of a HORRIBLE situation where people PAID to watch a live death — not to mention it entertained an entire country that was eager to see that scene, but since when is that fake? since when does it only happen in a dorama?
her desperation knowing she was going to die and the pain of leaving her children behind, yet having to make sure they grow up with money in order to survive broke my heart.
