i think jonny missed out on the potential hilarity of having jon completely believe the spider guy from ep16. like i get that s1 jon is all about skepticism but i can just imagine tim/martin/sasha being like “jon won’t trust this one, it’s talking about ghost spiders“ and Stoic Boss Jon being like “no that checks out spiders suck“ and then there’s no explanation for why he believes that one until episode 81
its so weird to me the way parts of the fandom talk about 160. like jon “accidentally” ended the world, or was “manipulated” into it. like. bruh he was literally being mind controlled and wasnt able to move any of his limbs even tho he was audibly straining. he wasn’t “tricked,” as if he chose to do it out of misinformation (like say, gertrude was tricked into her binding with agnes). he was only “tricked” into picking up the wrong piece of paper which stripped him of his free will, in a very unsettling mirror of his first mark. everything after that was completely without any input from him, informed or no. jonah ended the world. jon was just forced to be present for it.
its like if i offered u a handshake, then when u got close picked u up and threw you at someone and then said you were “tricked” into hitting them. like no there were actually a few more steps there between the deception and the violence.
We need a shitty RPG Maker horror game in the mode of Fear and Hunger that takes a page from Undertale and lets you go all in on your bad choices. There needs to be a route where by the end the eldritch horrors are looking at the player character like "dude, what the fuck". No, I don't just mean a "surprise, you were the real monster all along" twist – it needs to be a choice.
I will say as an edgy teen I was Obsessed with sundancer. Like yes being able to control a super hot and dangerous mini sun at will is incredibly cool. It is even cooler that she really doesn't want to kill people and has severe mental problems about it. And! She's a woman now I want to be her
Hey all, been an intense few days, and realised I haven't actually posted here about the fact the crowdfunder for The Magnus Archives RPG by the incredible Monte Cook Games is live RIGHT NOW.
It's going amazingly well, far beyond what we could have predicted, and I'm so excited by it. It looks amazing and I'm so psyched to see how Monte and the team bring the Archives to the tabletop. As someone who's been roleplaying since the 90s, Monte's work has obviously been a big feature in my gaming life, so you'll have to forgive me if there's a slight fanboyish tinge to how I talk about the project!
It is 1am on Wednesday in New Zealand and I shall take this opportunity to list some traits of Archival Assistant (hostage) Basira Hussain:
will talk in Paragraphs about the fascinating esoterica she's been reading at the slightest invitation while missing certain subtle social that the person she's talking to is,, Not fascinated
This could be predominantly her accent (i am from the opposite surface of the planet and bad at accents anyway) but she has a flatter range of vocal affect than most characters even when we know she's experiencing strong emotions
her escape from the Unknowing (is very important ♥ and) has certain vibes of 'coping with sensory overload' and could be read as her having practiced habits for dealing with sensory overload
in conclusion i think autistic interpretations of Basira could bee fruitful and interesting ☺
HELLO PEOPLE
HEY I FINALLY FINISHED THIS THING!!! It is my biggest project yet and i'm quite proud of it
I spent so many hours on this help this is what gay archivists do to your brain
hang on I've just connected some astoundingly obvious dots. what the ghost is so silly and has such hammy production because georgie "no fear" barker decided to make a podcast in the one genre that she physically cannot understand. basira said it took a "weird turn" in season three, I bet georgie got a bunch of feedback on early episodes that some content was genuinely too scary to really enjoy so she dialed it way back and landed firmly in the silly zone, unable to detect the pleasantly spooky sweet spot.
jon learning that you need an anchor to get out of the Buried and immediately interpreting that as "a literal severed body part" and not, you know, something with emotional significance or connected to a particular person. is so funny. but especially so when Melanie is also like "yeah that tracks"
kulbir shakya is like "yeah I only got out of the Buried by clinging to my grandfather's sentimental knife and thinking about my grandfather and how much I love him"
Jon, unwell: cool cool cool I'm going to cut off my fingers now
Melanie, also unwell: Jon stop. there's a better way. ..... come meet the meat man
