What would that one wish be?
It would be one of these:
1. The ability to forgive/love myself in a Christ-like way.
2. The ability to trust God 100% 24/7.
OR
3. To love others whole heartedly.
Also the ability to have like intense wisdom like Solomon would be cool too.
I GUESS I’D HAVE TO THINK ON IT.

Tidying up isn’t about minimalism
I have been a huge fan of Marie Kondo since her book first launched. And trust me, I binge watched her new show in an evening. However I often see people talk about how they couldn’t do it because they aren’t fans of minimalism (even my own sister said that) which blows my mind because I am far from a minimalist!
Here’s where I feel a lot of people get her ideas wrong. Because it’s not about throwing out everything and embracing a minimalist life style. It’s about only keeping things you enjoy. If having a bookcase full of books you love sparks joy great! A stack of magazines in a box in your basement isn’t doing the same for you. Keeping a dozen ugly oversized t-shirts isn’t bring joy to your life, they should go. Loving funky printed socks and having a drawer full on the other hand might spark joy in you so keep those.
This is why I actually recommend people read her second book “Spark Joy” before actually reading her first book. She breaks down the idea behind keeping only things that spark joy, and even explains what she means by that. I often see people ask “how can a can opener bring joy? Or a toilet plunger? How about my recycling can??” and as she explains it, you are thankful to have these things when needed, so indeed they spark joy.
Konmari isn’t about tossing over everything and living minimalistic, it’s about making sure you surround yourself with things you love so you can care more deeply (and in turn take care of them) it’s about being aware of what we have in our homes, and maybe becoming more aware of what we bring into them. It’s about envisioning the home you want and working positively towards that goal. If for you it is a simple and sparse home wonderful, but if bit konmari is still for you. 😊

Update to Kate’s fundraiser! Thank you everybody!!!!!
Dear everyone,
I’m writing two days into the new year to thank all of you who have donated to Kate’s fundraiser. I would like to thank my friends who donated without knowing Kate because they trust me (thank you for this trust!) and i would like to super thank all of Kate’s friends who have dug deep into their pockets and given all they could. You make my world more hopeful.
I had set $1000 as the target goal to get Kate on her feet so she could look for a lawyer. We smashed that target and this means so very much to Kate. Kate is now looking for a lawyer but it’s the holidays and it will take a while.
I would like to tell you that Kate has already set aside some of the money she will need for a retainer. Not a penny that you gave her has gone to waste. This is my promise to you.
She is now spending the holidays without her mom for the first time in her life, and it’s grim and sad and difficult. If you can show her some love, please do. She could very much use it. Everything you donate will be used to keep her fed and warm and to get her a lawyer.
Also please consider buying her beautiful art at her Etsy store. She has slashed prices on everything so use the much reduced prices or, if you can, pay full price (that helps too!). https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/KateHavekostFineArt
Thank you so very much and please don’t hesitate to contact me through the contact icon on the gofundme with any questions at all.
Wishing everyone a serene, joyous, and hopeful new year,
Giovanna

“Pleasing people will be the greatest pitfall of the servants of God. It will hinder you to speak the truth, it will make you a prisoner, a slave of their opinions, and it will cause you to choose the admiration of men over obedience to God. We are not called to speak flowery words that tune to their own lusts, but rather we are to speak with power that put conviction to men.”
