Welcome to Jubilant Accosts!

A town that has had a thousand names through the years, it was once the capital city of Yacothia, a theocracy or monarchy depending on how far back in time you go. This is also the burial site of the prophet Jacob, which any Jacoban must go on a pilgrimage to see at least once in their lifetime. The town itself is nowadays largely peaceful with rich tourism thanks to its ancient holy site.

However, beyond the mountains are a group of people who call themselves "True Jacobans". Following a strict, literal interpretation of the Oculus, they believe the Watcher to be a cruel master who demands regular sacrifices. Their spiritual leader, the Proxy, recieves visions on what - or who - must be sacrificed to keep the Watcher appeased.

A threat looms on the horizon for the True Jacobans, as a prophecy from the Maiden of Jacob dictates that the king of the monarchy they toppled will be reincarnated - and this time, he will bring them all down.

This neighborhood is a collaboration between @jasperskywalker, @luverofralts, @nappe-plays-the-sims, @potential-fate and @rheniumsims!

If you wish to use a play order, the recommended is:

Nothing stops you from doing something else, however!

Notes:

Nounlinkondelete and HoodChecker are essentials for all hoods really, so if you don't have them - go grab them!

Load the Klein household with boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true, at times an error will pop up which you can then delete quick.

Names may be incorrect if your game is in another language than English.

Playing with mods that reset households will result in an event in the Klein house being interrupted.

Script file in the neighborhood folder can be deleted after the Klein event.

Playing without mods might make the Dean family... chaotic.

Tiffany's lifetime want is meant to be to reach Level 10 in the Paranormal career track, however, this lifetime want is not accessible without mods. If you have lifetime want mods we encourage changing her lifetime want to this to keep her in-character!

The graves of the royal family will sometimes escape the neighborhood. Sometimes their runaway attempt will fail and you'll find them scattered outside the ancient castle.

"Alphaeus isn't waking up. It's time that we tried something else."

"Like what? It's spreading throughout the town. Maybe if we still had the Proxy to beseech the Watcher on our behalf, but no one has heard from him since Alphaeus fell. I can only assume that he's now fallen too, Watcher rest his soul. We're on our own, Trysten. We need to start thinking about the children."

"The children? What about them? If you think that Deia will-"

"Deia will do what she has to! This may be our only option to save our family! Brion befriended an outsider with Watcher Blessed powers who Shadowvale graduated in record time. He might be able to help us before we all succumb to this-this plague!"

Helena and Brion Pryor shared a tense look. Their mother, Damiana, was uncharacteristically shouting at her brother, Trysten, at the top of her voice, drawing the attention of two of her children. Damiana never spoke with anger or fear, only making her family worry more.

"She's talking about Theo," Brion stated. "We have to go find Theo before we all succumb to whatever this is. He can help us."

"And if he can't? What if we bring whatever this is to him? We can't doom another land to death. It's not right."

"Helena, think of Phuong and the baby. They need to be safe, and where better than a place where two women having a baby doesn't just happen, it's normal. Theo told me that he had two dads. They can help you where he's from. If we leave and get help, who knows how many people we can save. We could even find a cure for Dad before it's too late."

"I guess you're right," Helena murmured. "We do need help, and if the Watcher sent Theo here to bridge our two worlds, then we must follow His path. Tell Abercius and James to start packing a bag. I don't know how long we'll be gone for."

Brion nodded, but still looked uneasy.

"I'll get Abercius, but Mom said yesterday that she doesn't know where James is. She thought he was with a friend or visiting Uncle Trysten last night, but he never came home. She's not telling us about this, but I heard her and Aunt Deia talking about it this morning."

Helene's hand leapt to her mouth in horror.

"James is missing? How can she just be sitting here without-"

"Helena, have you looked at Mom at all this morning? Her eyes were red and it's only gotten worse with time. She's on the same path as Dad and you know it. How can she keep track of James when she's succumbing to whatever this sickness is? James skips class and family dinners even when our parents aren't dying. It's not her fault."

Helena froze when confronted by the evidence she'd been ignoring. Things really were bleak, and sending out a search party for her little brother would waste precious time they didn't have. She had to think about Phuong and the brothers she still had at her side. She would come back to help her family when she could, but until then, she had to think about saving herself.

"Okay. Let me grab a few more things and then we'll go. You'd better be right about having a way out of here."

Helena isn't sure what would piss her mother off the most- the whole "lesbian" thing or the whole "dark magic" thing.

Xexys, the demon of nightmares. He is well known in medieval literature for his trickery and love of cursed amulets. These amulets curse their owner into an endless sleep, plagued with nightmares.

Xexys has been banished from the mortal realm a number of times, but he always finds his way back.

His nemesis, the Dream Guardian, is always willing to help those who seek to banish Xexys, though he doesn't often take matters into his own hands.

In these modern times, Xexys' location is unknown, but he's sure to be planning something.

Xexys had no love for Yacothia's monarchs, but he has been actively hunted by the Jacobean proxies for centuries. His power has weakened, but the current proxy has grown complacent over the years.

The last time he was seen, nearly thirty years ago, he had an accomplice with him and a new scheme devised.

Who knows what Xexys has planned next?

Queen Hetepheres of Yacothia, known in modern times as Jubilant Accosts. The final monarch of Yacothia, Hetepheres succeeded her father under suspicious circumstances after he demanded that she marry.

Hello, there is no CC required!

We do however recommend No Unlinkage On Urnstone Delete and HoodChecker in case graves delete themselves, which can sometimes happen in custom neighborhoods.

Run the first household (Klein) without mods on startup if you want to experience the custom event!
