i do Understand why people get weirded out seeing kids into horror that has like gore involved in any way shape or form (ex. kids being into like, poppy playtime, garten of banban, etc) but u must understand that to many 5 year olds viscera and violence are like kind ofawesome. it was to me anyway. maybe somethings wrong with me But i was drawing dinosaurs eating eachother and tearing eachother apart on the reg and all my red crayons were worn down to nubs. on account of the viscera

my creative writing prof also HATES fantasy. as in if she asks for an example of symbolism in a book, and you give something from a fantasy novel, she’ll ask for an example from a “non-commercial book” instead.
I dunno man, people can have preferences, but the second you discount the artistic merit of sci fi and fantasy I stop taking your opinion seriously. and there’s such a big culture in Canada of only valuing literary fiction, to the point where one of our biggest authors, Margaret Atwood, refused for a while to classify her books as sci fi or fantasy. she said they were “speculative fiction”, which is entirely separate and very highbrow (sarcasm).
and I could go on about how Octavia Butler and Ursula Le Guin wrote books every bit as intellectual (and honestly, even more so) than their literary counterparts, but I am also an enjoyer of schlock!! I think there’s artistic merit in animorphs, and in isekais where a japanese schoolgirl reincarnates into a magical spider who has to level up like it’s a video game! it’s like with everything, you can’t draw a clean line that separates ‘art’ from ‘non-art’ or even ‘lesser art’, and pretending you can do so just makes you look ignorant and goofy. in my opinion.

Since the r-slur is making a comeback (you know, the word that starts with R, has six letters, and ends in D), I'm gonna make a little PSA:
Yes, it's an ableist slur.
Terms like "asshat," "head-up-ass," "up their own ass," and "high on their own farts" exist. There's also words like crap, dogshit, half-assed, assclown, and chucklefuck. And on the less vulgar side, there are terms like ridiculous, nonsense, train wreck, pointless, insipid, self-absorbed, pretentious, annoying, boring, contemptible, vile, and disgusting.
Substituting words like restarted, poptarted, brain damaged, smoothbrain, etc. is still ableist, because either 1. you obviously still mean the r-word, or 2. you're still using disability as an insult.

Of all the insane worldbuilding and complete clown shows I've found while spending a two week hyperfixation trawling the depths of Twisted Wonderland lore without actually playing the game, my favorite by FAR is the Aquatic Mafia.
There's a trio of students at the school that do under the table shady 'deal with the devil' type arrangements where you can promise your eternal soul in exchange for good test scores. The headmaster knows about this. He can't do anything because all the mafia is doing is providing really well researched and comprehensive study guides to students and that's not against the rules. Last year they held like a hundred students hostage until the school caved to their demands. Their demands were a buisness license so they could run a ritzy little cafe on campus. Their boss is weirdly law abiding and doesn't do anything that violates stated school rules. His two goons attack and maim students. One of em uses magic to do this, the other just beats the crap out of people. The goons were born into the legitimate mafia but the boss isn't he's just a guy they started following around. They've all known eachother since gradeschool. They are adamant they are not friends, and firmly correct anyone who says so. They are merely buisness partners, and constantly reaffirm that they would leave the other two behind given the slightest excuse. One time one of them was in an illusory dream world and the way he could tell was because the other two started showing interest in his hobbies. Another time one of them turned evil and the other two teamed up to try and kill him with a big laser. They regularly juice Henchman #2 like an orange and sell the resulting slime to one of their classmates. Honestly the mafia thing is like the third most noteworthy thing happening to them at any given moment. They wear really stupid hats. What's not to love.

Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria is such a weird theory because it's like there's a very obvious explanation for why middle school kids who didn't have dysphoria before might suddenly have dysphoria. Like huh weird I wonder what very obvious and widely known change that could cause kids to suddenly become very uncomfortable in their gender or sexual identity starts in between the ages of 10 and 14. Guess we'll never know. Must be peer pressure to *checks notes* become the only gender minority in your whole school singling you out for harassment by your peers. Couldn't be puberty suddenly giving you new body parts/bodily functions that are wrong for you.
