Before It’s Too Late.
[Reggie Peters x Reader] PART ONE - PART TWO (coming soon?)
Summary: Y/N is Reggie’s complicated love interest from the 90′s and is trying to figure out where she stands with Reggie before him and his band make it big by playing at the Orpheum. *only semi based off of Stranger by Jeremy Shada -GO STREAM MAD LOVE!!!*
Word Count: 1.1k
Warnings: Maybe like 1 swear word, and like anticipated angst???
A/N: It’s been a looooooonnngg time since I’ve written fanfic - I used to write for Tom Holland, Peter Parker and Harrison Osterfield lol but I think those days are way behind me. I miss writing so much, I decided to try it out with my new obsession; Julie and the Phantoms. Please like, reblog, and share with friends if you like it!!!
Tumblr media
As far as high school relationships go, I’d say my relationship with Reggie was as complicated and confusing as they get. He’s a natural flirt - a charmer, and a performer - so it never really surprised me that we never became official and exclusive, although it definitely that way at times. For instance, Reg would invite me to band practice just to watch them rehearse, telling the boys to “play their very best because Y/N’s coming and I don’t want her to think we suck”. And during said practice, he’d go extra hard with extra hair flips and bass riffs, the occasional wink making it across the room to you.
And of course, you can’t forget that one time Reggie turned into a true cliché Romeo-type, throwing rocks at your window at 2am, begging you to sneak down with him and go somewhere.
“Reginald Peters!” you whisper-shouted at him from your window on the top floor of your house. “Are you crazy?”
“Maybe a little bit,” he chuckled at his own comment. “Get dressed, I wanna take you somewhere.” He smirked at you and held his bottom lip between his teeth for a few moments as he watched you from your driveway.
“Oh, you’re definitely insane,” you said softly as you rolled your eyes, earning another small laugh from Reggie. You stepped out of the window frame and back into your room to grab a pair of pants and a coat. “I’ll be down in a second.” You said before shutting your window and slowly, steadily creeping down the stairs of your house and through your front door.
Reggie had waited patiently for you, tapping his foot and humming tunes of his own songs. His eyes lit up as soon as he met yours face to face at the same level. The first thing he did was hold out his hand for you to grab - how could you NOT be exclusive when he looked at you like that?
He began to run down the street towards his dad’s parked pick-up truck (smart boy for not parking in front of your house). “Where are we going?” you asked as he helped you into the vehicle. No reply, just a sly little smirk and then you were off.
You made it to your final destination where Reggie made you cover your eyes to surprise. “Keep your eyes closed!” he warned you as he parked the car again and got out to let you out on the passenger’s side.
“Reg, I know we’re at the beach. I can hear the waves.” You opened your eyes to find him beside you, looking up with puppy eyes.
“Dang it,” the excited gleam left his eyes, but the puppy-effect remained. “You still don’t know what we’re doing!” It’s like his ears perked up as he said this. This boy really is comparable to a dog.
It wasn’t like he had this big romantic gesture planned out, he just brought a beach blanket and a guitar. It turned out you didn’t really need the guitar, just the blanket to lay under the two of you as you looked up at the clear sky and star-gazed. As the early morning grew later, you had moved closer and closer to him, eventually resting your head on his chest and soaking up the syncopated breaths and heart beats of his. The warm fuzzy feeling that had already taken its place in your chest spread to your whole body as he kissed the top of your head and whispered, “thank you for coming here with me.”
“Of course,” you whispered back to him, being grateful that he couldn’t see your embarrassingly rosy cheeks.
He took a deep breath before sitting up. “Did I tell you we’re playing the Orpheum in a couple weeks?” He was totally playing it cool, leaning back into his hands and staring off into the sea.
“No!” you exclaimed and sat up on your knees even taller than him. “Reggie! That’s amazing! You’re literally gonna be legit rockstars!” You almost melted into a puddle at the way he smiled at you while you say this.
“Right?! hat’s exactly what I said!” he matched your energy with his excitement.
“Oh man, the Orpheum!” you repeated, “I so wish I could come.”
“I’ll try and work something out,” he licked his lips, “I really want you to be there.”
It’s almost like his voice cracked while saying that last part, but you couldn’t be entirely sure.
“I wanna be there, too.” Both of your voices had gotten quieter and your gaze had traveled down each other’s faces a couple inches to find each other’s lips.
You leaned into each other fast, but slowed down as soon as you felt his breath on you. Sinking his behind your ear, he nudged your nose with his, signaling that he was ready to kiss when you were. Only centimeters away, a shout from the distance knocked you both to your feet.
“Hey, you kids!! What are you doing out this late?! The beach is closed!! Go home!!” The figure the voice came from starting moving closer towards you.
“Oh shit,” Reggie said under his breath through a laugh. “Go, go, go, go!” he grabbed the blanket and started dragging you by your hand towards his car. Moments of belly-aching laughter passed by before you knew the night was over.
Needless to say, even after moments like that, you and Reggie had never had “the talk” about where you stand with each other. After psychoanalyzing and overthinking the situation, you had come up with the conclusion that Reggie was just afraid of commitment. Growing up with parents who rushed into marriage just because they had gotten married, he had become terribly afraid of moving too fast with someone ending up unhappy and fighting like they were. He didn’t want to end up like his parents, which is why he remained his same flirty, flamboyant self at school and with his friends.
You had formulated a plan to tell him how you really felt about him - showing up to the show at the Orpheum early to meet him at the backstage doors, hand him a letter and a quick, yet meaningful kiss on the cheek and tell him you’ll be in there cheering him on the loudest. However, that plan kind of fell through as you found out getting tickets to an exclusive Hollywood concert hall was incredibly difficult and expensive.
You didn’t give up, though. You and Reggie always found a way to each other no matter how hard the path was. To no surprise, you were able to say the things you wanted to say to him before it was too late…
LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT A PART TWO!!!!!

Note
why don’t you do an enemies to lovers with reggie and it starts with them being friend at first but falling out because of some misunderstanding back in their freshman year and reggie thinks the reader betrayed him somehow so reggie holds a grudge against them until everything comes out one day during their senior year. and they’ll both have nicknamed that they use to call each other when they were friends but now they say them out of spite. idk just a thought
ok i love this so much!
Y/n and Reggie used to be inseparable. Keyword: used to.
Freshman Year.
“hey buggy, do you want to come with us to the record shop after school?” Reggie asked.
“i’d love to strings, but i have to finish this assignment today. it’s worth half my grade.” you said with a sad smile.
“maybe tomorrow?” you suggested as the bell rang.
You walked to class as he stayed behind at your locker.
one of your friends saw you walking and wrapped his arms around you as you continued your walk to class.
After that, you never heard much more from reggie.
Sophomore year.
“Hey Y/n, do you have the math homework?” Alex asked as you sat at a table in the library.
You pulled the homework from your bag and helped him through the equations.
you would never let anyone copy homework but you were more than happy to help them understand the problems.
“Have you heard from Reg lately?” you asked as you finished up with Alex.
“you know he doesn’t hang out with me anymore. band practice is pretty much it. what happened?”
“last year he asked if i wanted to hit the record shop with you guys. and then he stopped talking to me. i don’t really understand what happened.” you said.
Alex looked at you with a sad smile.
“thanks for the help, buggy.”
“please don’t call me that.” you said as you packed up your things to leave.
Junior Year.
“Your next class president is Y/n Y/l/n.” the principal said with a great smile.
you smiled as happy as you could. your eyes scanning the crowd for your Strings. when you found him. your smile faded. he was looking at his hands. a sad face accompanying the tears falling down his cheeks.
you tried to catch up with him once the assembly was over. Luke stopped you.
“he really can’t handle this today, y/n please don’t.” he said as he pulled you in the opposite direction.
“we used to be best friends. what even happened with that?” you asked.
“freshman year. do you really not remember this?” he asked.
“no. he asked if i wanted to go to the record shop and then he never talked to me again. there’s literally nothing that i can think of that would make him hate me like this.” you said on the verge of tears.
you left the auditorium and went to find Alex. he was always the best in these situations.
you finally found him in the hallways. you were almost at the breaking point of a panic attack.
“Alex, please.” you said before collapsing in his arms.
he held you while you cried and well after you finished.
“what happened bug- y/n?” he asked.
“he hates me. i don’t know what i did!” you said
Alex held you and stroked your hair.
“he doesn’t hate you. he thinks you hate him.” he said.
you looked at him in disbelief.
“why would he think that?” you asked.
“i promised him i wouldn’t say anything. but you need to know. freshman year. you told him you would go to the record shop when you finished your assignment. the. you walked to class with your boyfriend. he said that you would rather hang out with him than with us.” he said while holding your hand.
“i never had a boyfriend. James? he was just a friend. and he was gay. not that that matters. but i was head over heels for reggie. he was my strings. i was his buggy. i don’t know how that could all just go away because he thought i was with someone?” you started crying again. but this time it was tears of anger.
you got up and thanked alex for the confirmation.
“i have to find him. i have to let him know.” you said before leaving.
you never found him that day.
Senior Year.
Graduation was coming up soon. you were supposed to walk with reggie. you had this planned for years.
You found him one day in the halls.
“hey strings. can i talk to you?” you asked.
“i guess.” he said
“i’m sorry. for everything. i never meant to make you feel bad or think that i didn’t care about you. freshman year i walked to class with my friend James. he had a huge crush on Alex and i was trying to help get them to hang out. Alex told me that you thought he was my boyfriend. that’s not true. i wanted to hang out with you so bad. i was absolutely in love with you Reg. i think i still am. i go to the record shop all the time hoping you’ll be there.” you said.
“i just want to be your buggy again. and i want to walk with you at graduation. and be at all of your shows. i just want you back in my life.” you said basically pleading with him.
“I spent the last 3 years trying to figure out why you would hurt me like that. i could never understand why someone i loved so much would do that to me.” he said.
“i’m not your strings anymore y/n. i’ve moved on.” he said before turning to walk away.
“don’t walk away from me Reginald. don’t walk away from me when i have just laid my heart out! I love you! okay? I love you so much that it hurts me to think about you. I want to punch a wall it hurts so bad! don’t walk away from me when i’ve done everything i can to make things right!” you screamed.
everyone in the halls was looking now. teachers were coming out of the classrooms.
“don’t leave me reg. please let me make it up to you” you said
“i love you. but i can’t. i can’t just sit here and let you preach about how you want to make things right. i sat outside of your house every friday waiting for you to come. i did that for 2 years! I can’t handle you seeing me when it’s convenient for you! i followed you for years waiting for you to like me the way i like you. i’ve given up! i’ve given up on trying to make you see me. i’ve given up on trying to make you understand that i am hopelessly in love with you.” he said
“i’ll still walk with you at graduation, but after that i’m done. if you want to come to our shows, fine. if you want to go to that record shop, do it. i won’t be there.” he said walking away.
senior year was the last time you saw reggie. he never made it to graduation.
Reggie Luke and Alex died outside the orpheum. it was their big break and they never made it.
Eventually you bought the record shop. it took years of working 3 or more jobs and saving up.
The Strings became a hangout for the youth. records were sold. t shirts were purchased. but the one thing that never changed was the love that you put into this last piece of him.
Sunset Curve was the only band that never got their records sold. you refused to let other people have that piece of your heart.

Don’t Leave Me
Y/N was sitting on their bed. Some show was playing on the tv but they weren’t paying attention to it. Their mind was more focused on the pounding of their heart and the void of noise in their ears.
normally, Y/N would regulate their breathing and count in increments of 4, but today it seemed that nothing could help.
Reggie had just poofed in to let Y/N know that band practice was starting soon. when he saw Y/N on their bed staring at nothing he knew something was wrong.
he sat on the bed next to them. he reached out his hand to hold theirs. their hand was limp in his.
“hey, babe, can you hear me?” he asked gently
they didn’t respond. he held their hand tighter. rubbing gentle circles on the back of their hand.
he grabbed them carefully and helped to lay them back on the bed. when they were laid all the way down, he wrapped his arm around their waist.
he whispered gently all of the wonderful things he had seen that day. flowers growing in the cracks of the sidewalk, people walking their puppies, a baby laughing at bubbles.
slowly, Y/N’s heartbeat returned to normal and their hearing came back.
“but i think that the baby was just laughing at her parents faces. they were pretty funny.” he finished
Y/N slightly squeezed his hand back.
Reggie moved to sit up and help them off the bed.
“Don’t leave me, please.” Y/N said.
“Never baby.” he said as he laid back down and pulled a blanket over the both of them.
as you drifted in and out of sleep, he told you all of the things that Luke and Alex did that day.
Normally, Y/N dealt with their anxiety on their own. but now, they didn’t have to. Reggie was always there to help

Stop Yelling
You grew up in the same situation as Reggie.  Parents fighting constantly, learning to stay out of the way and keep quiet.
So when you decided to sit with the boys during band practice, you did just that.  Talking only to answer a question and sitting as far away from any equipment as you could.
They had finished rehearsing one of their songs and decided to take a break.  Reggie came over to talk to you.
You were about to get drinks for everyone when Julie and Luke started arguing.  Something about how to pronounce a word.  Then they got louder.
“Alex tell him I’m right!” Julie said.
“Reggie she’s wrong isn’t she?” Luke yelled.
A few retorts later and they were in each other’s faces practically screaming at each other.
You didn’t notice when someone sat at your left.  You didn’t notice when the yelling stopped.  You didn’t even notice the tears rolling down your face and your shaking hands.
As if all of your senses returned at the same time, you nearly fell off the couch out of breath and red in the face.
Reggie tried to help you up, but you flinched at his hand. Alex took that as his cue to get Julie and Luke out of the room.  Panic attacks suck and they suck so much more when people are watching.
“Julie, go grab me a bottle of water and a bottle of ibuprofen please.  Luke go sit inside and wait for me or Reggie to get you please.  Y/N really can’t handle this many people right now.” Alex said making more space in the studio.
You had managed to uncurl yourself from the ball you were sitting in just enough to be aware of where you were.  You were still too zoned to know who was there.
Reggie grabbed your hands and stroked your fingers with his thumbs.  You could feel the pressure of your hands being held but couldn’t feel anything else.
Alex came over to you slowly so he didn’t scare you.  He knew how to deal with anxiety.
“Y/N, you are going to hate me for a second but I promise I mean well.” He said as he stood on the couch so he could sit behind you.
He motioned for Reggie to let go of your hands.  He reached around you with both of his arms and held you in a tight hug.  He sat his head on your shoulder so he could talk to you quietly.
“You are safe right now.  It’s just Me and Reggie here.  You are in the studio at Julie’s house.” He started listing off.
“Reggie tell them about something. Anything.  They need to hear your voice.”
“Y/N, It’s Reggie, Right now there are flowers in the room.  Pink, blue, purple, any color you can think of.  They are some of the prettiest things I have ever seen.  And the air outside smells just like rain, even though it hasn’t rained in weeks.  And the nail polish on Alex’s hand is starting to chip, and the strings on your hoodie are exactly the same length.” His voice was starting to pull you from your trance.
He held your hand again.
“And Y/N, the rings that you have on aren’t the ones you had yesterday, or the day before.  I wonder how many rings you even have.”
“58,” You reply.
It was the first thing you had said all day that wasn’t a direct answer to a question.
“That’s almost as many records as I have.” Reggie says with a teary laugh.
“What happened?” You ask as Alex lets go of you.
“Julie and Luke got into an argument and you had a panic attack.  Luke is inside waiting for us to let him know you’re okay.  They both feel really bad about yelling.” Alex explains.
“Are you okay?” Reggie asks with tears in his eyes.
“I think so. My head really hurts and I’m tired.” You say
“Yeah, panic attacks take a lot out of you.  Do you want to take a nap?” Alex asks.
You nod. “Can you stay with me Reg? I don’t want to be alone right now.”
“Of course.  Do you want to go inside?  I’m sure Julie wouldn’t mind if you use her room.”
You nod again.
You finally get settled into Julies bed after taking some pain medication for your headache.  Reggie sits on the edge of the bed.
“Will you hold me?” You ask on the verge of tears.
“Of course y/n/n” He says as he crawls into bed behind you.  He drapes his arm around your waist as you turn around and put your face in the crook of his neck.
Your breathing finally evens out, so Reggie lets his tears fall.  He knew how detrimental to your mental health a dysfunctional family could be.  But he never expected to see the aftermath.
Julie comes in a few hours later to leave a note on the bedside table.  She sees Reggie asleep with his arms around you and you snuggled into his chest.
Y/N, Luke and I are so sorry for yelling.  We never meant to hurt you or scare you in any way.  When you’re ready, we would like to really apologize.
~Julie

You had died in 1984.  You were on your way to school and were in a car accident.  You appeared as a ghost in 1996 when your dad opened up a record store and played your favorite album.
Ever since then, you sit in the store and watch people.  You had tried to communicate with your dad, but nothing ever worked.
While watching people, you would create stories about their lives.  Some people were doctors, buying gifts for their spouse.  Others were teachers, getting records for their classroom.  Your favorite one though, was students buying records with their friends.  They reminded you of you and your best friend.
One day, while watching people, you noticed a brunette boy looking at the rock records on the wall.  You thought he would be a drummer in a band.  You watched him for a while as he just looked.
Until he looked back at you. You were shocked to say the least.  You were a ghost.  The only way he could see you was if he was also a ghost.
You hop off of the counter and walk over to where he is.  You wave your hand in front of his face just to make sure that he isn’t a ghost.
He backs away from your hand and you take a step back.
“You’re dead?” You ask.
“Yeah, you are too?” He asks back
“Yeah, I died in 84, you?”
“95 here. Hotdog.” He responds.
“Wow. I was in a car crash.  When did you come back?” You ask/
“A few weeks ago.  This girl Julie lives where me and my friends used to play music.” He says.
“I’m Y/N, by the way.”
“Reggie, nice to meet you.” He says.
Since that day, you are pretty much inseparable.  You walk along the beach together.  You listen to newer music together.  You even talk about everything together.
“So I was thinking, what if you came with me to our band practice? Meet everyone.” He suggests one day.
“That would be really cool actually.  I don’t have many ghost friends.”
So you show up to Julie’s house and are greeted by Alex and Luke.
“So this must be Y/N. Reg talks about you a lot.” Alex says.
“Oh does he now?” You ask looking over to Reggie.
“Julie should be back any minute now.” Luke says as he sits on the couch.
You sit in one of the chairs and look around the studio.
“Okay guys, who’s ready to- Who is this?” Julie asks as she returns.
“You can see me?” You ask.
“Another ghost? Who brought this one home?” She asks with a laugh, “I’m Julie.”
“Y/N. You look just like my old best friend. It’s so weird.” you say
“Everyone tells me I look like my mom used to.” She says.
“What’s your last name?” You ask.
“Molina. You?” she retorts.
“Y/L/N.” you respond. “It’s so weird you look exactly like Rose.” You say.
“D-did you say Rose?” She asks.
“Yeah, she was my best friend.” You answer.
“That was my mom’s name. When did you die?”
“I was in a car accident in 1984. My dad opened a record shop after I died.”
“The one on 2nd street?” She asks.
“Yeah, why?” you ask.
“My mom used to take me there when I was younger. She would always say how it made her feel closer to the music getting to actually touch it.” she says.
“I used to say that. So where is your mom?” you ask
“She passed away about a year ago.” She replies quietly.
“I am so sorry.  She was one of the best people I knew.” you say softly.
“Thanks, but there’s no use dwelling on the past.  Wanna stick around for practice? The boys have a new song.” Julie says.
“Why not, I have a date with the bass player later anyways.” You say with a smile.

Distant - Reggie Peters
REQUESTED: no but they are open
WARNINGS: none I don’t think
You were never one to share feelings.  You always felt like a burden dumping your emotions on other people.  So instead of letting anyone know how you were feeling, you shut people out.  It was easier to ignore than to indulge.
Luke was the first one to notice.  You stopped inserting yourself into conversations, and you rarely looked up from your homework while the band was rehearsing.
Alex was the next to notice.  You stopped gossiping with him when you painted his nails and never wanted to do fashion show anymore.  Not that he minded, he had already tried on every outfit you had combined.  But he was worried.
Julie found out from Alex when you had stopped showing up for movie night with the boys.  She was worried but didn’t want to pry.  She tried her best to make excuses for you but she was running out.
Reggie was the last to notice.  It took him a bit longer than the rest of the boys, and he was hurt.  He though that you didn’t want to hang with them anymore.
One day, while you were feeling all of the feelings you tried to lock away, Reggie poofed into your room.
You were laying on your bed, facing your window.  You wouldn’t have even noticed him until he kicked your dresser on accident.
“Oh shoot, sorry.” He said quietly.
“What are you doing here?” You asked sitting up.
“I was going to invite you to movie night.  You missed the last few and Julie said you weren’t feeling well so I wanted to check up on you.”
You sighed.  You figured that one of them would try to make sure you were okay, but you didn’t want it to be him.  You were avoiding him the hardest.  And you knew he would take offense to that.
“Yeah, sorry, I just haven’t been feeling myself lately.  Didn’t want to bother you guys with my problems.”
“Hey you always deal with our problems, we want to help with yours.  You can tell us anything.  You can tell me anything.” He said stepping closer to your bed.
“I know, but I hate dumping my problems on everyone.  I figured it would be easier on everyone if I just didn’t show up for group things anymore.  I can’t handle when people ask if I’m okay, so I just cut out the middle man.”
Reggie sits next to you.
“It might seem easier to just shut people out, but trust me, it does more harm than good.” He said sadly.
You had completely forgot that Reggie grew up the way he did.
“I just think that it would hurt everyone less if I just slowly stopped showing up.  Like it would soften the blow.” You said.
Reggie scooted closer.
“I am always here if you need to vent, or cry, or scream into the void.  You have no reason to keep everything bottled up.  I’m sure Alex would even let you wail on the drums to get it all out.”
That got a laugh out of you.
“Thanks Reg, that means a lot.  Do you think you could skip out on movie night and stay here with me?  I don’t trust myself with my feelings right now and I could use a friend.” You said.
“Absolutely! Julie chose the notebook and Alex seemed a little too excited so I was gonna sit it out anyways.” Reggie said with a laugh.
You two spent the rest of the night throwing pillows at the wall to get out the anger and watching cute movies to get the tears out.  Without Reggie, you would probably still be lying in bed crying.
You were very thankful that he had come to check on you and that Alex had told Julie.

Hi!! I just wanna say that you're an outstanding author! Could I possibly request a very fluffy reggie x reader where the reader is stressed about school, and reggie helps her? I'm in finals week and OOOOOh boy-- thank you so much!
This is so short! But Requests are open.
It was almost time for finals, so the band had quieted down a bit, playing shows on the weekend or small shows after school for Flynn and Carlos.
Finals week was absolutely destroying you.  Shakespeare was boring, and you never understood old english very well.  So guessing the meaning of the passages was next to impossible.
You had been in your room all day Saturday studying for calculus and English.  Everytime you thought you had the formulas down, you would do the next equation wrong.  You were on the brink of throwing your stuff and hoping for the best on the test when a certain dark haired bass player popped into your room.
“Hey Y/N, Julie said you’d be here.” He said as he walked over to your desk.
“Did she also say that I’m about to just give up and hope I don’t fail?” You said with an attitude. Noticing the change in his expression you apologized. “Sorry, I’m just super stressed.  Managing the band is pretty much a full time job, even if Flynn is helping.  And I never have time to study, except for when I do and I don’t understand anything.” You said with a sigh.
Reggie looked at the papers in front of you and nodded.  “Yeah, I was never that great in school.  And I didn’t even graduate. But that’s probably because I died, so I wouldn’t take any advice from me.”
That got you to laugh for the first time all day.
“How about we take a break, maybe go for a walk, and then when you’re ready, we come back and I’ll get Alex to help you study?” He asked.
You were on the verge of tears at his gesture. “That would actually be really nice Reg, can we get ice cream?”
“Of course we can, but I call chocolate chip mint.” He said with a laugh/
You might not get the best grade on the test, but at least you won’t fail.  Believe it or not, Alex got straight A’s in high school, but even more surprising, Luke had higher grades than either of them.

Hold Me - Reggie Peters
You were the mom of the group.  Always checking in on everyone, making sure they ate and making sure they were taking care of themselves.
When Luke’s birthday rolled around, you made sure to give him extra attention so he wasn’t beating himself up.  When Alex found out that his parents divorced, you made sure to distract him with painting nails and talking about cute boys. When the anniversary of Julie’s mom’s death came, you made sure to keep your phone on hand in case she needed to talk.
Reggie seemed to be the only okay one out of the group.  He never was bothered by things that should.
You knew how fighting parents can cause a separation between feelings and expression.  You grew up in pretty much the same situation. So you knew the signs of burn out and anxiety that came with the memories of the household.
“Hey Y/N, can we watch a movie when you get done with your homework?” Reggie asked one day.
“Of course, do you want to find something while I finish up?”
You hand him the remote and let him flip through netflix. You finally finish the paper you were writing and join him on the bed.
“Ooh, which one is this?” You ask as Star Wars flashes on the screen.
“Return of the Jedi.  My dad took us to see it when we were younger.” He said quietly.
You lay your head on his shoulder and let him return to watching the movie.
About halfway through the movie you could hear his breathing even out.  You pulled out your phone and texted Alex.
Hey, is today some kind of bad week for Reggie?
His family always fought around this time of year.
Ok, thanks for letting me know. He’s asleep right now at my house.
Make sure he’s okay, he gets quiet around this time
Will do. Thanks
                                            Of course.
You had laid Reggies head down on the pillow so he wouldn’t wake up with a sore neck.
You turned off the movie and turned the lights off.  He should get his rest, you knew how much of a toll it could take on you.
A few minutes later, Reggie started to toss and turn.  He started to mumble and whimper.  You knew it was a nightmare, so you tried to wake him up.
You shook his shoulder gently.
“Reggie, Hey Reg, it’s okay, it’s just a dream.” You said hoping it would break him from the terror.
“Don’t touch her, please.” He said quietly.
You knew he was talking about his mom.  He never wanted to talk about his parents.  He was very reserved in that aspect.
You shook him once more, and he finally opened his eyes.  They were full of tears and you knew that he needed some space.  You moved to let him have room and he leaned into you.
“Please don’t leave me too.” He said full of sadness.
“Never.  It’s gonna be okay.” You said as you pulled him closer.
He would never tell you this, but he needed someone to hold him and tell him that.
The next few weeks you made sure to pay extra attention to him in case he needed someone to talk to or someone to hold him.  And you made sure that if you were watching a movie, he was always invited.
