exploration
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my artist book I want to explore the naturey side and show with the world what makes me happy. I plan to sort each chapter into what makes me happy and keeps me calm. I feel like it is really important to be in a happy state of mind and be at peace with yourself, therefore finding places or things that allow you to be happy is key. I am looking forward to sharing the stories of my happiness and adventures I have had within the naturey sides of my story as well other key factors that play into it. Some ways that I could creatively print out my pictures would be to alter them or warp them in an interesting way!

These five images that are up above, were taken during this years spring break. The first image of the beige building with red lining was taken outside of the restaurant I work at. While looking at the image the dark sky allows for the colors of the building to stand out and seem brighter, like a contrast. You can also see repetition of lines in the window and on the side of the building. The second image is taken at one of my favorite parks, where a dog walker is walking what seems to be 15+ dogs at once! In this image, it is visible that there are some shadows and different hues of color. The green grass stands out and is brighter due to the shadows and darkness of the sky. The third image was taken at an electronic show I went to over the break. The image shows a sense of asymmetry, but also a glimpse of repetition with the same circles floating everywhere on the screen. This picture is mesmerizing because of the color usage. The fourth image is of our dog, Rain, sleeping in a unique way. The background of the image shows different hues or shades of color. The last image is one of my favorites. You are able to sense movement and even rhythm in the picture of the night sky. Although the night sky is typically darker, when the clouds roll over and the moon is shining bright, we are able to see or witness beautiful nights like these.

Hi! I also agree with you on the difficulty part. You did really well on the assignment though! I like the colors you chose.

Doing these collages was really fun, but also kind of difficult. Finding colors that went together was a challenge for me, and sometimes it felt like I was seeing the colors normally, instead of how they were supposed to be seen.

You did a really nice job on this assignment. The color transitions on the first picture you submitted went together really smoothly!

I am most proud of my 4 as 3 and the one where the colored are mixed. I think this is a very interesting illusion because for how it plays with your eyes and makes you see what is contradictory to what is.

This project was very interesting and a little difficult. I had a lot of fun trying to work with different colors and alter the way they are perceived, however, it was quite difficult to find the correct colors that can be altered. While this project was interesting, it was also very messy and time consuming, but overall I did enjoy it!

Zoe Leonard- QCQ
“If you read it aloud it means something different; if you
just read it to yourself it means something different” (pg. 182).
After reading the text, this quote really stuck out to me. It makes me think of the phrase “there are two sides to every story”. I think that one thing can have multiple meanings, and Zoe explains this well in her works of art. Once you read something aloud, you get a larger outlook than when you are reading something internally. I really sat with what she was saying, as when I am experiencing something, it is best to talk aloud and hear the words coming from myself… rather than hearing the voice that may be in my head. I would agree with what she is saying, as it is very relatable to me and I have experienced this an abundance of times. When I read things amongst myself, it can mean something completely different from when I read it aloud. This occurs when I read a text, quote, see a photograph, have a thought, etc. Also, it shows a side of history. She wants to bring forth a side of the unknown in her artwork. By the quote, an outside viewer may have no tie or knowledge of what you are thinking until you read something aloud and give the meaning, that is when the outside viewer can really grasp a better understanding or history you may have. I don’t necessarily find this surprising, just because I feel like the quote itself is pretty explanatory. I believe that I would be more surprised if I didn’t already have some awareness of how different reading aloud and reading it inside or to yourself is.
Do you ever find differences in reading aloud and to yourself, if so, which do you prefer and do you see the difference in meaning?

"home"- first post
Tumblr media
I took this image on my first girls trip to San Diego, California with three of my best friends. This is a picture that over looks the city of San Diego from our rental living room window.
This image provides a sense of "home" or comfort because it was such a surreal and happy time. It was a time where I felt comfortable being over 1,000 miles away from home, with no relatives or family nearby.
When glancing out of the window, you see palm trees and blue skies. There's also the ocean out towards the horizon. This beautiful place will always give me a sense of comfort, as it is associated with sweet memories with kind people.
Out of all of the photos I took on the trip, this one really stuck out to me. The colors provides a sense of warmth, even while the clouds took over the sky.
