If you happen to see our JCFPD medics in town please give them a hug. The JCFPD ambulance contract which was extended through 2019 came to an abrupt end. Evidently Jacob and Mecham decided to add a little salt to the wound by giving our paramedic/safety employees/firefighters a five day notice. Kind of tough to pay your mortgage and feed your kids on a five day notice. They will be replaced by a city ambulance service working with CalFire, and of course a 2 wheel drive ambulance. Our medics came to us highly skilled, very experienced. They respond in 4-wheel drive vehicles. They are also safety employees which means they are able to perform auto extrication and fight fires. Cal fire medics will not be able to do that. I thought they had a paramedic on their engine. Sounds like they just wanted to do more damage to JCFPD. So Mecham and Jacob want this town to heal?
