I think there's a more hostile space on the internet these days for doing anything amateurly - not to say that everybody used to be welcoming and fuzzy and we all sung kumbaya... I remember somebody going off on me for 'falsely' complimenting a newbie artist's work, telling me off for 'lying to their face' (I really did like the art, too...) I think that there's been a wider purpose given to doing these things, and if you don't fit that purpose (making money, getting subscribers, likes, etc), you're more than just some amateur - now, you're some kind of idiot who can't do anything right. There are so many more bars to trip yourself up over.

I uploaded a mediocre recording of one of my Charity Livestreams - they're not very good, I'm using an old set-up, it lags horribly in places. But not unwatchable - I usually get 5-10 viewers per stream, which is pretty dang good for an amateur in the wilderness of Twitch. However, when uploading the recording, I recieved multiple hateful comments mocking the quality, mocking the lagginess - it was strange. It was no poorer quality than thousands of older videogame playthroughs - but now we've gotten to an expectation of standard (expensive...) setups, people expect to be given the most pristine set-up... When it's just a hobby.

I guess I don't have a takeaway - do more things for fun, and don't let the haters get to you? Yeah, that'll do.
