Imagine instead of Cam having a crush on Risa he deeply envied her instead.

To Cam Risa can seem so human, so natural, no control in her life whatsoever.

While Cam is artificial, abnormal, practically not meant to exist, and his life is controlled by Roberta and the rest of the Proactive Citizenry.
