2025 Basic Rider Course (BRC) training
We have finalized and published our summer 2025 training schedule, you can find it here.
We have two Rider Coaches in Juneau and two that travel here to help us out. The two in Juneau recently completed a training update, which delayed our posting of a schedule. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
FYI, if a class is full it will not show on our schedule. If openings come up in a class we reach out to paid students in the following class to see if they would like to move to the earlier class.

We're Hiring!
Well, sort of. Juneau ABATE is in need of experienced motorcycle riders who would like to become a RiderCoach and help us with teaching classes. To be certified by MSF as a RiderCoach, one must successfully complete a RiderCoach prep course. The prep course is offered in different locations, just not Juneau. We will cover the training expenses in exchange for your commitment to teach classes each summer (for at least three summers, but hopefully more).
Juneau ABATE is also in need of a Secretary/Treasurer. Our current Secretary/Treasurer is leaving the position the end of this year.
If you are interested in either becoming a RiderCoach, or serving as Juneau ABATE's Secretary/Treasurer, please contact us at [email protected].

Due to an interpretation change by DMV regarding motorcycle operator licensing regulations, students who complete a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified Basic Rider Course (BRC) must also successfully pass DMV's motorcycle rider knowledge test in order to attain a motorcycle license or endorsement. The test is a 20 question test requiring an 80% score to pass. After passing Juneau ABATE's MSF BRC the DMV knowledge test can be taken at the same time you go to DMV to get your motorcycle endorsement or license, or it can be taken online before going to DMV. For more information on testing requirements, please see the DMV Motorcycle Operator Manual which can be found at http://doa.alaska.gov/dmv/dlmanual/mcman.pdf.
