so ill just run down some who caught my eye right away. Do Kyungsoo was a definite surprise. hes got that quiet charisma and appeal. very appreciated. intelligence is sexy as i always say.

MOONBOK IS BACK!

Hwayoung was very pretty! Very stylish too. her skills... could use a bit of work but her visuals are there.

Myungsoo!? Guitar prince? im into it. An older guy with actual talents and visuals? yes yes!

sakura is great too! i stan a fellow Japanese person!

Updates!!

Your resident gg stan is back at ig again!!! So much has happened and i need to talk about everything!!!

So, first off: Luxe Comeback.

Ella can step on me again. Like please. This comeback is probably not one of my favorites but its pretty good and the music video was incredible. Still a Cheri and Ella stan though so the new girl didn't really catch my attention. but she seems very pretty and i feel like i need more!

Second: Eclipse comeback!

Hell yeah! Miss Lee has delivered a sexy concept and this is exactly what i wanted from Eclipse. I'm really sad that the promotion period was short but i hope we get more sexy concepts. Audrey and Blue really shined! so kudos to you beautiful girls!

Third: K.ARMA debut.

Finally TRC does something. And boy i was not disappointed one bit. They don't have the usual trc sound to them but that's the best part! Also can't actually choose a bias since theyre all hot. this has never happened before! all of k.arma can step on me.

Fourth: nova debut holy shit?!

Are we actually getting a nova debut???? like nova has actually done shit? okay I need to stay on top of this.

Sungyeol is much talented!

Ah, I never said that he wasn't.

He just doesn't have much of performing talent (singing, dancing and rapping). But his stage presence is incredible and he's been an absolute delight to watch. Honestly, while i do think he shouldn't have made it as far as he did, he did still and he made an impression on everyone. Probably one of the more memorable contestants on the mgas this season.

No, I'm not gonna be the negative netizen who drags him for having a kid because we all knew that he had a daughter and a wife for a few years now. That blowup went pretty viral. I commend him for having a family because goals.

Also his art skills are fantastic! Hes been drawing a new webtoon called the Princess's Sword and Im like into it.

MGA4: Fixed or Not? Probably.

If you haven’t seen this yet, go watch. It is the best few minutes ever.  An anonymous source linked me her video like an hour ago and I’ve watched so many times already. 

But basically, tldr, Choi Yerim (@chyerim01) uploaded a storytime video on her youtube channel, talking about her experience on the mgas, and lemme say, she went at it! i love sincerely love a great critique of a show, and the mgas4 seemed a little too on the nose for me. Yerim of course talked about her teams and how she wasn’t eliminated but made it look like she was. 

And you know, how I’m very into pointing out the wrongs of a show and i can’t disagree with a lot that Yerim said in her video. I didn’t review any of the episodes for the MGAs because of that very reason. A lot of the contestants weren’t really entertainers in the specific sense of the word. It was  a fantastic show but there was a lot of not good talent mixed in with the greatest talent. 

Sungyeol is a big example (that person should probably not have made it as far as he did.) . Vocally not very good, dance wise not very good, and rap wise not very good. But he was surrounded by talented people which allowed him to move through. The opposite can be said for Jinsoul and Luda, two incredible vocalists surrounded by not so incredible vocalists and that kind of dragged them down. Hyuna is a fantastic example of someone who should have been in the top two easily, but she was eliminated. Easily this season could have been an all female top 5 with Jinsoul and Hyuna in top 2.  No shade towards Junmyeon or Haknyeon, but talent wise, they shouldn’t have been as high as top two. 

I can’t disagree with anything that Yerim said, because it’s kind of true. Shows like the MGAs, American Idol, the Voice, America’s Got Talent are usually kind of fixed. Like most reality tv shows. She got the traditional ‘villain’ edit of reality tv because that’s what makes tv interesting. Reality shows and reality music shows will always choose a winner before hand and then they’ll push that winner everywhere. they’ll get the most camera time, they’ll be painted as the best and they could be the best but with the mgas, there were way more deserving winners this time around.

Who do you think would be a good host/hostess visualwise? ;)

I work at a host bar in Gangnam. Host bars are essentially an all -male staff, so I’ll focus primarily on the guys for this one, but I’ll point out some girls who I think would do well as well in the end. So, host bars exist for the elite wealthy women who are willing to spend a ton of money in the company of a ritzy man in a ritzy bar (basically an all night long drinking experience)

Visual wise, i’ll go through each company and select someones who I feel would fit well as a host/hostess. It may say a bit about my preferences too (haha.) 

Sphere: Sphere has a few visuals who I think would be a good fit for a host. Kim Junmyeon is definately a major visual. I saw him on the MGAs and winning the whole show definately showed that he’s got some talent. He’s like the classic prince charming visual, you know. Very pure. Sphere also has Seokwoo. He reminds me of like a model. So, very highkey into him. (please debut him at something Baek Jiyoung.) Out of the Sphere girls, maybe Seulgi or Minhee? They’ve got a pretty face and pretty aesthetic but I’m not entirely sure. I’m sure that Convex also has a host-like visual in Hyun? (lemme check….yeah, Hyun.) 

TRC: They have two ideal visuals for a host and for a boy group and both are rotting in the trc dungeon. One is obviously Nakamoto Yuta (hell yeah, a Japanese person). Very nice to look at and an incredible dancer. Like super talented and a pleasure to look at? Women would be all over him. Second is Lee Jongsuk, Mr.MGA3. I found his youtube channel and that guy is like next level attractive. Also a singer. TRC should honestly let these two out of the basement, because together, Yuta and Jongsuk are going to destroy all the women out there. 

KT: There’s not one really incredible visual for KT (they have several). Like they have Aron (cute is a thing) and Jimin (who’s absolutely adorable).  But like a host -like visual, I feel like Johnny would be a good choice since obviously very tall and supposedly super smart? intelligence is sexy. Also, one of KT’s rappers has that Prince Charming aesthetic, so him as well. But I haven’t seen anyone from KT yet who is like blowing me away (get those aesthetic visuals out of the basement and into the light!). The concert was too dark to actually notice anyone but the center trio. 

Royal; SEUNGHWAN! LIKE HELL YES. AND JAEHYUN. I have no words. Powerful visuals. Powerful visuals. Give me more, So Jiseob.  

Nova: Hugo. He’s got the exotic visuals. Like there’s something there and you can’t help but be curious. Yeah, he’d be great as a host. As for girls, Meiqi. Definately. Nova has that exotic feel about them, so of course, their top visuals will be the most exotic type. The foreign type. (but hey don’t start taking my spot hahaha!)

First of all, thank you.

Second of all, no. 

It’s not that I have anything against the Korean industry. It’s simply because I never did want to become an idol in the first place. I only auditioned in Japan simply because my coworkers wrote the resume and sent it in. Of course, I made it and essentially became known as the sexy French one, which is great. But it’s something I never wanted to do, so yes, I left and took a work visa to Korea and now I work here, in Seoul in a host bar. I really like what I do, and it gives me a lot free time during the day to essentially do everything else, like be a netizen and watch concerts, go to fan signs and stuff like that.

Being an idol is great for some people and I don’t discourage anyone but for me personally, I don’t see it as being a good time for me and for that reason, I won’t become a kpop idol.

how do you feel about kt rookies? are there any rookies you'd want to see brought to light that aren't already known?

I have one question for Katie Lee. 

WHERE ARE YOUR RAPPERS? 

Like, okay, there’s dancers and vocalists. Where are the rappers? I know I’m not one to speak since I was more of a vocalist (more like that one guy who was just attractive and spoke exotic languages.) Taemin is like no doubt one of the best dancers at KT and he absolutely deserves the spotlight. Aron does too, and like i’m excited for all the existing ktrookies, but it’s like okay. Jongdae is really great at singing and Jimin is absolutely adorable. But, I feel like I still want the rappers. I’m already sold on the kt boy group, just give me some great visuals and some rappers. 

doesn’t kt have two senior rappers that they got from the kt/royal contest (yes, i was there. no i didn’t audtion, before anyone asks)? Kang Minhyuk and Lee Seonghwa? I do recall one of the rappers won the rappers weekend, but like where are they now?  we haven’t seen them at all….like hell, I almost missed the rappers from the kt stage, would it not have been for the bright hair colors. But seriously, Katie Lee needs to let the seniors out of the basement before they crumble to dust. 

Someone else I’m really eager to see: watching the kt stage for samsung, there was a familiar face from youtube, johnny! I really want to see him as part of ktrookies. the existing ktrookies for the boys don’t have a central visual and I feel like Minhyuk or Johnny would fill that spot fantastically! 

Wow, I rambled on about the guys for so much. Please, stop me if that happens again, haha. In terms of the girls, I really want to see more of Momo and please let her stage name be Momo!  that would be so great. Peachy girl with a peachy stage name! I also want to see more of Luda, since I just didn’t get enough during the mgas.

Do you have convex bias now? Is Cheri your favorite Luxe member? How about KT eclipse? What do you think of them ??

I do not have a Convex bias. Will someone tell me who to stan? As a former idol and boy group member myself, I don’t really follow boy groups, but if someone tells me who is like the most worthy of attention in Convex, Ill check them out and see if they’re up to par! 

Cheri is still a favorite Luxe member, however, I do have two bias wreckers in Luxe. Ella and Xayah. As much as I love Miss Leader herself still with her incredible visual (*coughs*herbeautifulbody*coughs*), Ella and Xayah have officially inserted themselves into my bias list along with She’z and ChiChi. Yena is great too but honestly, do they have a main vocalist now that Celine has left? Like Celine was a grand visual and I was hoping to see her stick around for a sexier concept but who’s replacing the duo that left? Regardless, still love me some Cheri and Ella and Xayah are just biaswreckers (Stahppppp being so hot). 

Now, if you did read my blog post, I do mention that I find Eclipse a bit too cutesy. That doesn’t mean I don’t like them. I’ve watched their KTROOKIES debuts and that gives me a lot of hope for a darker concept and the potential that Eclipse has with the right promotion! So far, their debut has been buried and dead and it’s a bit sad because they’ve got some really great visuals. They have Audrey and Blue and Jennie and Minji! Like, so many stunning visuals…being wasted!

who's your favorite out of the trc girls?

Well, I haven’t deeply gotten into trc and their beautiful girls, but from what i’ve seen on their instagrams, they have some girl crush visuals a la GI. Global Icon was fantastic and I had wished that they didn’t disband, but there’s some hope for trc in a new girl crush girl group! From what I’ve seen of the TRC trainee stage, though….I can tell you immediately that there were a few that caught my eye. 

I really like Kim Yubin, she’s been at TRC for ages though, so I’m glad they’re finally letting her out of the dungeon. I heard she was a rapper, so please, I wanna see her rap! Yujin is really fabulous too. After all, I’m always a sucker for the model visuals and Yujin, as trc’s resident model, I think, could easily stand her ground as the visual of the group. I saw a few faces from the MGAs, which, I mean, i’m not surprised, but Sana? The girl is cute but I don’t really see her as TRC material? She seems more like Royal or Sphere style, but she could end up shocking everyone (Like i did when i debuted haha!)

Samsung New Year Concert || P1: IDOL STAGES

So, I finally got around to watch my prerecorded version of the Samsung New Year Concert from Jeju, and let me say: what a great concert! As a former idol, it was great seeing the debuted groups from the three companies as well as the trainees from each company as well. Now without further ado, I’ll run through the entire set with my opinions on everyone! 

First, we had the special stages from Luxe, Eclipse and Convex performing a song from the seniors in their companies. I’m a sucker for pretty girls so I was super attentive during the So Hot stage and Gee stage. Luxe slayed ‘So Hot’. I thought that only HAM could do it beautifully but man, Luxe just came out onto that stage and sold me on the song. Of course, I wasn’t blown away as usual but Luxe slayed it and I appreciate talent where it is. I thought Gee was a little too cutesy for Eclipse and Eclipse as a group is a bit cutesy for me, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t do a great job. Chichi has a lot of great songs that I would have preferred to see performed like Oh! or Hoot. I don’t usually follow boy groups, but Convex knows how to please their fans. Mr.Chu by She’z is a cute song and very much in line with what seems to be the Convex image (mix of cute/cool). Overall, found the special stages to be a bit disappointing but great in their own ways. 

Now, onto the individual stages! Eclipse was first and while I did find the group cutesy when they first debuted, they do have some incredibly stunning girls! KT Entertainment is filled with pretty girls from Chichi’s Son Jungae to Son Dambi and Jang Nara and Eclipse adds to that impressive visual roster with Blue, Audrey and Jennie! A trio of incredibly stunning girls to join the visuals roster of KT! I was hoping that they would do Love Whisper last, since the other songs didn’t really have the appeal of love whisper. That being said, this is the first time we’re officially seeing the group and I have high hopes for them. I would love to see Eclipse do a darker sexier concept since they have the stunning visuals to pull that off beautifully (maybe something like Chichi’s Mr.Taxi or Mr.Mr? Ideas for Katie Lee ^^ ) 

Next was Luxe and by the first notes of their song, I was a puddle on the floor.  Like I said earlier, I’m a sucker for pretty girls and Luxe has the most beautiful girls ever! First off, let me talk about the songs before I get sidetracked by all the beauty in that group. Luv Game was a very strong debut, and I’m not being biased at all. From a former idol perspective, you want to debut with a strong song that will then show what kind of talent one has. Luv Game was a strong song in that line of thought. I’d love to see more sexy concepts from them. Now, onto the girls who caught my eye! Xayah has that badass aesthetic from her and her rapping is very smooth, sort of like Yoon Mirae. Let’s talk about my favorite girl though, Ella! She won me over from the third season of the MGAs, and then getting on Royal Survival and winning my heart all over again? Anyone know if she’s single? 

Lastly on stage was the boy group from Sphere, Convex and man, Baek Jiyoung has an eye! she knows how to pick them. I still haven’t learned all thirteen members but i do think that their songs were very good. I kind of zoned out though, so please if anyone has fancams of the convex performance and can write me a guide of all the members, I’ll probably have way way more to say.

who's your luxe bias? and your convex one too!

My LUXE bias is Cheri! I love her. So much talent, so much charisma! I've watched some of the Royal Survival episodes and it makes sense why she's in LUXE. she's had a ton of exposure and she's got a lot of talent and it's great to see someone like her in the girl group. (Of course, I'm not being biased because her name is French.) As for Convex, I don't really have a bias, since they don't really interest me so far. There's something missing in the group and maybe when they debut, I'll take a closer look at them.
