Ew, what the fuck is this Tumblr TV bullshit? Do they not remember how terribly Tumblr Live went over when they implemented it?
We don’t come to Tumblr for a “TikTok-like” experience. I’m so over shit like Instagram Reels & YouTube Shorts, etc. When I want the “TikTok” experience, you know what I do? I go to fucking TikTok.
It’s stupid and mind-numbingly boring that all the apps are basically the same fucking thing now. These big companies are so fucking obsessed with money that they don’t even realize, nor do they give a shit, that we’re burnt the fuck out on seeing the same shit everywhere we fucking go.
I also hate when Tumblr adds a bunch of shit to the bar at the bottom of the screen on mobile. Can’t they just chill and stop adding dumb shit to the site?

Thank you for making the post about people misusing and abusing the x reader tags in the ACOTAR fandom.
I’ve quietly messaged people about this, and while some have been gracious, others have been incredibly immature and rude in their responses.
I feel like a lot of it intentional and coming from the desire to drive engagement with their posts (some have unapologetically said as much).
In these instances, it really highlights that person’s immaturity, narcissism and lack of desire to meaningfully contribute to the fandom (other than to gain more followers etc.).
I absolutely think the rise of social media influencers, booktok, etc. in general have contributed to this mindset.
I get what you said about deleting your post because you don’t want to clog the tags yourself, but I hope you leave it up in the hopes it might educate or convince some people to rethink how they use the tags.
I’m so fed up with this selfish nonsense and just about ready to start naming and shaming.
More of us need to call out the accounts who are abusing the tags. That kind of behaviour is not in the spirit of fandom and we shouldn’t just accept it.
I’ve been involved in various fandoms for a long, long time (I’m probably at least twice the age of most people here), but I’ve never come across such selfishness and lack of regard for the experience of others as I have in the tumblr ACOTAR fandom.
First of all, thank you so much for sending this ask. I can’t tell you how many times over the last couple of years I’ve written and rewritten and then decided not to make that post, because I was a little worried about pissing everyone off, so it’s nice to know that I’m not alone.
Fandom has become such a weird space to navigate. I’ve been on Tumblr since 2012 and I’ve also spent time in a million different fandoms on other platforms over the years, but the mess the space in general has turned into recently seems to be a cross platform issue—and from what I hear, a cross fandom issue.
I totally agree that social media has fucked up how we interact with other humans, and it’s also sort of created this widespread “pandemic”, if you will, of people in constant need of attention and validation.
I’ve been lucky enough—in this fandom, at least—to have not yet had a bad interaction personally with a writer on the x reader side of things, but I 100% believe that there are a few who have absolutely no problem putting themselves over common courtesy.
On the flip side of that, I’ve also had some people respond super well and tell me that the idea that non-fic posts might be clogging up the tags just genuinely didn’t even cross their mind, and they were super sweet about the whole thing.
But I totally agree that there’s a lot of, as you put it, “selfish nonsense” going around—by both writers and readers. Some readers are very demanding and get upset when a writer doesn’t do what they want them to or post on a regular basis, and some writers are very demanding that they get the kind of or the amount of interaction they deem acceptable.
This is my side blog, because I don’t like posting a bunch of stuff on my writing blog that isn’t specifically fics I’ve written, so as someone who sits on both sides of the reader/writer dynamic, this behavior confuses the hell out of me.
In fandom, we’re all here for the same reason—to enjoy this piece of media we really like and want more of. So, why can’t we just do that? Why can’t we just be chill and be kind and have a good time?
Fandom isn’t the fun little escape it’s meant to be if we can’t even be kind and courteous to one another.
Anyway, I’m so sorry for the novel-length response—lmao, I’m a wordy bitch with raging ADHD and a lot of shit to say 😂—but in regards to my original post, I think I will leave it up. With you and a couple other people expressing similar sentiments, I feel better knowing that I’m not the only one frustrated by the misuse of the x reader tags.
P.S. If you’d like to name and shame writers in this fandom who’ve been mean to you in my inbox, feel free so that I can block them. I’d prefer not to continue to give my support to people who are out here being assholes for literally no reason.

You guys, I am down on my hands and knees begging you to please stop putting random things in the {character} x reader tags. 🙏🏻
I’m talking about things like answering asks that don’t have the fic actually written in the ask, random life updates, random story non-updates apologizing to the entire fandom for not updating or saying that you plan to update soon.
And please, can we stop tagging other characters x reader fics in another character’s x reader tag?
I’m really bad at gauging how things could come across over text, so I wanna clarify just incase that I don’t mean this in a hateful way at all. It’s just that it makes it so incredibly hard to find fics when the tags are filled up with a bunch of other stuff, you know what I mean?
Take Azriel for example—Azriel x Reader is incredibly popular, and that’s totally fine, but the Azriel girlies don’t have to spend a whole lot of time looking for Az fics, because he’s a fan fav and lots of writers enjoy writing for him. But then if you go and tag Az fics or other posts in the Rhysand or Cassian x Reader tags, it makes it difficult for Rhysand and Cassian girlies to find the fics they’re looking for. They don’t get as many fics written about them, so it pushes those fics down deep in the tags, and it kind of becomes a hunt to find them sometimes.
And once again using the Az tag as an example for posting random things, because Azriel gets so much attention, having a bunch of extra stuff in the fic tag pushes a lot of stuff down. So, if somebody were to take a little time off tumblr for say something as little as a week or two, it takes infinitely longer to catch up on all the wonderful fics that have been posted because you have to scroll through a ton of other stuff that either aren’t fics or aren’t Az fics.
I say all this because I’m a mood reader. The batboy that I’m fucking with today depends on how I’m feeling, so I bounce around a lot, and it can get frustrating sometimes trying to find fics—especially older fics for say Rhys or Cass once I’ve read everything current.
We all know Tumblr tagging sucks and the search function is kind of ass, but they don’t really seem to care about that lol, so we kind of have to help each other out by making sure we tag things properly and leave out things that don’t belong, you know?
P.S. I’ll probably get rid of this in a couple days so it doesn’t clog up the tags, but I really kind of needed to talk about it a little because it’s been bothering me for months.

Hey Reader and OC FanFic Writers
Please stop tagging every side character in your fic posts. It’s a form of overtagging (link) and it is spam in the other characters’ tags. People are looking for posts about those characters when they search their tags, not for reader/oc fics where they show up.

Thank fucking Christ it’s not just me! Why is this so fucking hard for so many people to understand??
Writing characters that have zero knowledge of sex, despite being a grown ass adult, is not some quirky way of portraying them as “oblivious” or “shy”. You’re literally writing a child and putting them in adult packaging to make yourself feel less icky about it.
you know what really IRKS me.
how some readers are written so painfully oblivious and like shy and so uwu wdym your wallet is so hard it’s poking my lower back? STFU!! no grown woman doesn’t NOT know that’s a raging boner, why are you writing your readers like they’re children????

Lmao, girl’s making it sound like she thinks anything less than what Mr. Beast brings in isn’t considered a “survivable living”.
*laughs in annual $37K*
You don’t have to rake in millions to be well off. Some of us are literally living paycheck to paycheck, genuinely struggling to afford the bare essentials.
You can’t have three wedding dress changes, spend over $50K on your wedding venue alone, and then come out here to complain about needing a living wage. I think you’re gonna be just fine.
