yknow what i just realized?

Jonathan was the only person who witnessed both of mike’s monologues. we don’t have confirmation that will truly heard mike. jonathan is the only person who we know for a fact heard and saw both of those monologues.

he doesn’t have to know anything about el and mike’s relationship to know that mike was lying. he saw how mike cried for will in the shed and he saw how soft he was and he heard mike say that befriending will was the best thing he’d ever done. jonathan knows what mike looks like when he’s honest in these life or death situations.

jonathan was also aware of how hard mike looked for will because when mike is sharing information it becomes glaringly obvious that he has looking hard and finding more answers than anyone else in that room. jonathan also witnessed the van scene.

all im saying is that if anyone is gonna confront mike about his feelings for will at this point, it might be jonathan. i genuinely don’t think el is aware of how mike feels about will as she’s never seen any of those hints beyond mike’s determination in season 1. will has been there for those moments, obviously, but being in love has blinded him to the possibility that mike could ever reciprocate his feelings so there’s no way he’d confront mike about it. jonathan has known mike since he was five, has seen how differently mike treats will and el, and is aware of will’s feelings. jonathan has all the pieces to put together the puzzle that is mike’s love life and if anyone were to confront mike about how he actually feels, it would have to be someone who could have very reasonable suspicion. jonathan.

and i think he would go the route of gently encouraging mike to just talk to will. i don’t think he’d yell or get angry but i could see him having a “talk to him.” moment with mike at some point

when will was possessed in s2 and he was communicating through morse code, he said “CLOSEGATE” despite still being possessed. it made me think that he was sacrificing himself :(

will wasnt possessed anymore when el closed the gate, also all the demodogs died after the gate closed since theyre all connected i guess.

so since wills connected to the mind flayer because as they said its like a hive mind, and he told everyone to close the gate despite still being possessed, it really feels like he was sacrificing himself

because he had to understand something and, if his head didn’t get it, i’m sure his heart did.

one of the biggest differences between mike's relationship with eleven and his relationship with will, is that he CHOSE will. eleven was just a girl he stumbled upon in the woods and took her home because she needed someone to take care of her. will, however, was a boy swinging on a playground FULL of other children, and mike NEEDED a friend. he could have approached anyone but he looked at will and for some reason thought to himself, "yup, i want that one. that one is going to be mine." the two of them were both alone and their need for one another was mutual and not out of compulsion or obligation. he decided to get close with will while in contrast he only let eleven stay with him because she could help him find his best friend. even when he was offering shelter to eleven he was still choosing will. as he said in the van, finding eleven was luck, not fate. luck is brought by chance rather than through one's own actions. meanwhile, fate and destiny is all about the decisions you make that ultimately determine your future. you have the choice to change your destiny by choosing differently. mike's choice was will. mike and will are destined to be together. for mike wheeler it has always been will byers, and it always will be.
