YES YES I NEED THIS SIGN IN EVERY SINGLE PARK PLEASE
This is my daily struggle, I had so many arguments with people with off-leash dogs (in a mandatory leash area!!!). Thanks to this behavior I'm struggling with Kim being anxious/aggressive with other females as she often gets involved in unpleased interactions with free females while on leash. And every single time that I ask for the dog to be at least recalled, I'm being called names and insulted of course.
Also 9 out of 10 their dog isn't really that friendly at all.

I really do think an important component of activism is to make sure your motivation is based on a desire to help/improve things for the people being harmed by a system, and not hatred for the ones doing the harm. both for mental health reasons, and because either way you're training your neural pathways and it's gonna turn out a lot better for literally everyone if the question on everyone's mind after achieving a goal is "how/which people can we help next, what's the next step for improving things" and not "who do we need to attack next."
I'm not saying don't be angry, there are a lot of good reasons to be angry right now and it makes for an excellent kick in the pants, just don't define yourself by it or it's gonna poison you and potentially do collateral damage.

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning
If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:
Tumblr media
These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:
Tumblr media
But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.
Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.
If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.
Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.
Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
Update: There's now a Megathread about this on the AO3 subreddit.

You don't need everyone to like you. I understand this can be an overwhelming trauma response to being neglected and otherwise hurt as a kid without the comfort and reassurance of our parents. But please try to remember that your worth is not dependent on how many people can love you. You have something much more important and worth protecting-- your heart and soul and mind and spirit. Not everyone you meet in this world is gonna resonate and vibe with you on those same levels. You've got to get comfortable with the concept of being misunderstood or feeling out of place-- and, rather than fawn to fit in, take that as a sign to find the spaces and people who can better appreciate you for it.

There is no way to safely choke someone.
There is no way to safely choke someone.
There is no way to safely choke someone.
It doesn't matter if it's consensual, it doesn't matter how much experience you have, it doesn't matter how "gently" it is done.
It can take as little as 4.4 pounds of pressure on the jugular veins to rupture internal blood vessels and prevent oxygen from reaching the brain. To be clear, 4 lbs is a large bottle of ketchup. It's an empty pair of boots, or a single full-sized pound cake. That is not a significant amount of pressure.
Being choked can literally change how your brain works -- not temporarily, not just while it's happening, but in the long term: "young women with a history of being choked during sex exhibited different patterns of fMRI activation during verbal and visual working memory tasks compared to a group of peers with no history of being choked during sex."
Being choked can result in traumatic brain injury, with the risk going up every time a person is choked. This can happen even if the choking isn't strong enough to leave visible bruises.
To be clear: I am not saving this is a "bad" kink, or that anyone is wrong for wanting to be choked or enjoying being choking, or that it should never be done.
But choking is literally one of the most dangerous sexual activities you can participate in, and you and your partner should be fully informed of all associated health risks.
The person who is being choked should know that it comes with severe health risks, up to and including death.
The person who is being asked to choke their partner should also know about those health risks, and the fact that they may temporarily or permanently cause severe physical damage to their partner, up to and including traumatic brain injury and/or death.
Only when both partners are fully informed of the risks can they meaningfully consent to the activity.
If you both are comfortable with those risks, then go forth and enjoy yourselves. But please, please, please inform yourself and your partner of the risks, and take them into consideration each and every time.
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.

"I don't want to read this" is totally valid.
"This is disgusting to me" is totally valid.
"I don't want to read this because it is disgusting to me" is totally valid.
"I don't think anyone should be allowed to read or write this because it is disgusting to me" is authoritarian.

i think the single greatest example of environmental storytelling in video games is in Unpacking. it's a game with no dialogue that consists entirely of unpacking your stuff out of moving boxes and placing it into the correct places around the place your character is moving into. there are a lot of subtle storytelling beats, like the same stuffed animal coming with you through every single move, but there's one level in particular that takes place right after your character graduates college and moves in with her boyfriend that goes normally at first.
but then you get to your framed diploma.
you go to hang it on the wall in the kitchen, but there's a bigass painting already there that you can't move (presumably your boyfriends) that takes up the entire wall.
Tumblr media
you go to hang it on the wall in the living room, but there are already a bunch of posters there - again, presumably your boyfriend's. there's clearly space for your diploma if the posters were scooched closer together, but again, you can't even move them.
Tumblr media
with a growing sense of dread and desperation, you move to the bathroom. this room has the only wall space in the apartment for you to hang your diploma: directly over the toilet.
Tumblr media
but if you try to place it there, it gets a red outline, indicating that it's in the "wrong" spot and the level won't finish.
you go to the bedroom.
there is no wall space.
you click under the bed.
Tumblr media
the level finishes.
youtube
the next level has you moving back into your childhood bedroom.
