The scars come from many, many fights against villains and other dangerous missions. They sometimes end up getting hurt while trying to save animals, their team, or themselves. This happened a lot when they first started.

Your Wrath Of The Wild/Revenge au reminds me so much of that one Arcane quote:

"That which inspires us to our greatest good is also the cause of our greatest evil."

Martin just wanted to protect his brother and keep him safe, only to lose himself in the process. It's so deliciously tragic and reminds me a lot of Viktor in a way, having such good intentions become twisted.

"B-Brother...?"

Should I continue the other Aus I have or bring something else completly different from everything I'v done.... you know it.

So, uh, I was working on OTGW au and ended up thinking on some things... and this madness was born.

Still need a name, but the story is basically that, (BEAR WITH ME, PLEASE) It's a modern fantasy world. When the brothers were young, Chris ended up getting lost in the woods... or at least, that's what everyone believed. Martin spent all his life searching for him, but only as adults do they meet again... and he finds out Chris had made a deal with a creature in the forest to protect his older brother from being caught too, and now he himself is a creature.

Martin doesn't really care, though. He finally, finally found his little brother, alive and well, and even if things won't be the same, he's just glad to see him again.

Chris now is a shapeshifting creature that takes care of the animals of the forests. So he still can turn into animals, just... not by technology.

Not sure if the Wild Kratts would happen, though. Still thinking if I should make the rest of the crew and the villains as creatures, too.

Also kinda want to make a swap version with Martin being a creature, maybe some day-

Someone stole Jimmy's midnight snack and he ain't very happy about it.

Still figuring out how Tazzy Chris would play out in Anti Hero Au but I think he'd be a lot more... animalistic, so to speak. Barely talking, always on fours, lurking on dark places and only approaching people he trusts. The team is starting to get worried, especially Martin. Suddenly his brother is much taller, his teeth are much sharper and he isn't even sure if Chris even remembers they are brothers. Needless to say, he's a little freaked out.

The more I draw these two the more I love their weird dynamic I might need help-

Zach is finally making some progress in building something great without stealing anything or being... evil. Chris knew he could go far but even he was impressed on what the former villain could do.

He made that one entirely on accident but hey, it's something-

The brothers hanging out with Donita and Zach, very chill and relaxed.

New bad guys (but not important ones) show up, and in an instant the brothers become killing machines. When it's over, they go right back to the conversation like nothing happened. Meanwhile the former villains are like 0_0`

Alternatively, they're hanging out and talking about the old villain days. Like one of them laughs about how bad they were, and then Chris or Martin is like "yeah haha you were! But not as bad as this one guy we fought the other day. But we took care of him.''

And Zach/Donita is like "oh haha cool cool" while sweating a bit

Idk I think the villains' reactions to the crew's more wicked ways is the part that intrigues me the most lol

I think Donita wouldn't mind the violence so much as one would think. Though there's some parts of the job that she's not really fond of.

This man is testing her patience-

Zach... he rathers not being involved. Or even near.

Of course, that doesn't stop him from being dragged into the mess many times

Comparing the old villains to the new ones... is complicated. Some are easy to deal with, others...

Sometimes the bros (or one of them) end up talking about the new job to their former enemies, and surprisingly recieve comfort in return.

The old villains are actually concerned for them.

Given that Aviva and Zach are more rival-y than Zach and either brother, I'm curious how evil Aviva would react to him

Like...what if he thinks its a malfunction or something that's making the brothers unusually aggressive? So he goes to the Tortugo to get Aviva to fix whatever is going on, because hey those two are SCARY now?! They are annoying pesty goofballs, they're not supposed to be scary!! This is NOT a fun dynamic anymore please help!!

But on a personal level, Aviva doesn't like him. And, logically, why let him walk away? He's hurt animals and the environment many times before, even when they stopped him again and again. Maybe she lets her emotions guide her, maybe she tells herself it makes sense. But he's here now in her ship. Why let him walk away to cause more harm?

(of course she gets stopped but still a fun thought I hope!)

I never really thought Aviva would have much problems with Zach around, only being a little angry, if anything... but I honestly love this idea so much it might be a little arc in the au.

Because! On Aviva's vision! They all had the means and good reasons to delete Zach from the face of Earth, but Chris just had to suggest giving him a second chance. And fine! Call her cruel! Call her vindictive! But she had NO REASON to trust Zach after everything he did, so why should she? As far as she knows, Zach could just be tricking Chris and pretending he had turned a leaf and just be biding his time until he decided to strike.

They solve things eventually... but for a while, she's very untrusting of him.

AS FOR ZACH

He's obviously very confused and scared at first. What once was just a fun but frustrating rivalry, now had become a nightmare! So of course he's scared! And he kept being scared until Chris entered through his window like "Hey :D" one day, sat him down, explained the situation, and offered a deal.

Did they already have the tattoos pre-the villains’ retirement, or did Donita help them with the designs? (I could also see her being upset she didn’t get to design them in the case it wasn’t her)

It was Martin who designed them, and yes, Donita gets quite grumpy when this is brought up.

"Those are too simple! Where's the glamour? Where's the sparkle???"

As for when they got them... I'd say somewhere between when they started their new... "job", and when the villains got fully convinced to retire.

For the anti-hero Wk AU, when the new villains aren't doing anything, what exactly does the gang do? Like, do they hang out in the tortoise, or do they hang out with animals like in canon?

They still go on silly fun adventures! If there's no villains in sight, they still go around to research and hang out with animals and be their silly selves!

They really value these small moments of peace (even if they still end up in trouble sometimes) where they can just be themselves and not worry about bad guys.

I'm sure it wasn't an immediate resort to violent methods unanimously decided among the crew, so I'm curious what the process must have been like.

Martin was the first to kill someone, but that was more on brotherly instinct than premeditated, and could arguably be defense.

This AU has me INTHRALLED and I just want to know so much about it lol. Will probably ask something else soon

Back to the question--how did everyone react to this first death? Did that alone make them consider things, or did other poachers who witnessed the attack decide to give up, and that's what made them realize that scarier methods get better results? In my head, they're all shocked by this sudden bloody turn of events, and I'm just wondering WHO brought up the idea to welcome it first, or if it was like a silent decision sort of thing.

I guess what I'm asking is what it was like for each crew member--their thoughts and feelings on everything, and what kind of methods they're willing to resort to.

Martin was the first to attack, but who finnished the job, so to speak, was Chris, with the same weapon that almost took his life.

And... he was surprised that he didn't feel anything. No remorse. No guilt. He was just...relieved, that now not only his brother was safe, but that there was one less person in the world to harm animals.

It had been so many times in which they failed to save a animal. And every time they tried, it looked like it only made more villains appear.

The next time they faced villains, a bunch of poachers, the green brother didn't hesitate.

He would not fail again.

He activated a animal suit (a honey badger), grabbed the first one he saw by the shirt and slammed him down to the ground. Knocked him out, not enough to kill. Other tried to attack him with a knife, only to recieve a large gash on their chest.

The others, terrified, just grabbed their friends and ran, leaving the animals behind. It... it worked?

This had never happened before.

I like to think each one in the crew had thought about being a little less merciful. But never really said it out loud.

After the brothers returned, still shocked about what happened, it was Aviva who broke the silence.

"Boys, I have been thinking..."

They do not harm any type of people. The ones hunting for survival, or especially children hunting or fishing with their parents, are never on their list. They still try to help and educate them.

The ones that are in their list is people that harm animals for personal gain, selfish wishes, greed, and do not listen to reason, aka the new villains. These people would not hesitate to kill them, so why should they?

I literally cannot express enough how much I absolutely love the anti hero AU! Every time I see a new post, I get so excited!

Question for ya: you stated before that Zach heard them out after a non-aggressive talk. What made Donita decide to switch sides? Was she (and Dabio) lucky enough to go unscathed as well?

Donita was way harder to break than Zach. Martin's patience was tested as he tried all he could to stop her from using animals on her designs without him having to throw her out of the plane mid-air.

"The animals will die after a while, and you won't be able to use the clothes anymore!"

"The best art is ephemeral, my dear. Limited time to watch the show."

"Don't you think that this is way more work to use them than to just doing it without?"

"No price is too high for fashion."

"...Animal print is out of style."

"HA! I tell people what is on style or not, not the opposite, silly!"

After a lot of struggle, Martin finally haves an idea. He then offers to model for her brand, no pose beam needed, any time she needs, on top of suggesting her to paint the prints in the fabric instead of using actual animals, because 'anyone can go and use animal prints. A original design made by you is impossible to copy.'

Donita thinks about it, and decides to give it a shot.

She still slips up sometimes, like trying to give hairstyles to sloth bears or getting Zach to make a machine to remove the colors of certain areas ( that man doesn't even pay attention to what he's building after the fifth cup of coffee), but it's in a more 'bored/well-meaning' way than her canon self.

She's a bit confused, but she get the spirit.

Dabio is just happy to follow.

Wait that last post made me realize…were Zach and Donita there when Gourmond was killed like they were in the canon Platypus Cafe episode?

I guess if they were already less-villainous at that point, Gourmond could have been trying to convince them to “not be such cowards” or something like that. He was mentioned to also up the ante…maybe he was going to prove to them that they could get violent too, and it backfired?

Also now I’m picturing Zach and Donita staring after the carnage like “yep I think we made the right choice.”

(I love this au in case you couldn’t tell. Are you writing it anywhere else?)

It's pretty much what happens, actually!

Gourmand was growing very annoyed about his colleagues turning around and giving up, so he decides to invite them for a special "lunch", where he, hopefully, could ignite the evil spark back on them.

The platypus's eggs were only a bait for the brothers, and, like in canon, he didn't realize he had caught Chris too at first.

And as canon, Zach ends up spotting him, but instead of finding it funny, or imediatelly revealing his position, he's freaking out and trying to hide him because he knows exactly what will happen if Gourmand finds the tiny hero...

...it didn't work.

Also, I am planning to write one-shots of this au, this episode included, but I haven't got around to do it yet.
