being present
about three years ago the guy i was dating sent me an email about being present. he encouraged me to read an excerpt from screwtape letters.
today, one of my best friend said that she’s encouraged by the way i am always present. i shared the orgin story of that value in my life & ended up finding the email that my ex sent me. crazy that he sent that to me on sept 12 2018. today is sept 10 2021.
i love being present. it’s very important to me. i do not like when people are not present, aka going on their phones while we’re hanging out. it shows me that i am not valued & makes me angry that my time is not being valued. (that might be an entitlement.)

omniscience and omnipotence
So I was hanging out with God today and told him that it was pretty cool that he knew everyone’s thoughts. And then he responded and elaborated on this omniscience and omnipotence and He told me this:
I am God — all knowledge of the past, present, and future circumstances. I know exactly what each and every person is thinking at every moment and I know exactly the circumstances people need to thrive and grow.
I’m like a gardener. I decide on what seeds I want to plant and grow in my garden. I choose them carefully and I have my reasons why I want to add them to my garden. Do these plants get to choose what type of plant they are? Of course not. Do these plants ever know why they are being planted? No, because my nature is beyond their understanding.
Before I sow these seeds, I prepare the soil around them and I plant them in the ideal climate so that they may bear healthy fruit or blossom at the proper times. Do they get to decide where they are planted? No, that is out of their control. Do they know where the ideal location should be? No, that knowledge is beyond their understanding. They are placed exactly where they need to be because I have control over where that is and I know the best location.
So, I lay down these seeds and I water them and give them fertilizer so that they have the proper nutrients to grow. I expose them to the proper amount of sunlight and I give them the proper amount of water and fertilizer. Some need some more light, water, or nutrients than others. Sometimes these plants need to not be watered for a period of time, but in those dry seasons, they still grow. Again, do they get to decide this? No, for they do not know what they truly need.
Over time, after I’ve tended to these seeds for a period of time they start to grow. Eventually, they begin to sprout leaves and grow bigger until they are a full grown plant. These plants look different. Some stand tall, while others stay close to the ground. They also serve different purposes and produce different fruits or vegetables or flowers. And, as a gardener, I ensure to take care of them until that happens.
Do these plants have any control over what they look like, how big they grow, what fruit they produce or what purpose these serve in their ecosystem? Nope. None at all.
One day, some of my fruits and vegetables will be ready to harvest. Not all will be harvested at the same time, for some will need more time to grow than others. They’ll go on and serve other purposes, like providing nutrients, and energy for animals. Other plants I have planted will be flowers, solely serving the purpose of being beautiful.
Again, do these plants have any control over the purposes they get to serve? Nope. None at all.
One day, these fruits and vegetables will be consumed or these flowers will wither and die. Their life will be finished and they will have served their purpose in this world.
As their caretaker, I am constantly looking at these plants and I’m proud of them even though they have contributed nothing to their existence. I get to watch them grow and I get to see my work come to fruition.
I will always love my plants even though they did nothing to earn that love. I wanted to create them for my enjoyment — to love them and cherish them and help them grow; these plants simply existing allows me to do that. I love tending to them and I love pouring out my energy and love onto them because I get to create something beautiful. And again, what did these plants do? Nothing. They did nothing but absorbs the water and stretch towards the light. They merely existed and they bore fruit or blossomed during the seasons they were meant to.

paths
we all walk on our own path in life.
we never really merge paths.
sometime your path will run parallel with someone else’s
but that may not be for forever.
so keep focused on your own path,
look left and right once in a while to see who’s running next to you.
enjoy those moments when there are others,
and be okay when their paths diverge from the direction you're going in.
