They can generate money another time but a ruined reputation is almost impossible to fix. Just like GIR and Smart's reputation right now. I say Smart because both Wetv and Tailai publicly mentioned Smart, not just GIR so they are determined to put Smart in the middle of all of this regardless if it was Smart who decided to violate the contract or not. I don't think GIR is aware of who they are going against. Also, where did they get the guts to go against a huge company when they literally had nothing for years?? Is the CEO some chaebol or something?

Boom my love, I hope this does not kill the fire that you have in your heart. You did so well and I hope someone will acknowledge that and save you from all of this mess. I know you love your nong, but right now, you have to love yourself first. Also, stay away from Wetv or tailai or whoever was that producer woman of TopForm. The way they presented Lily's character is actually smart. Instead of presenting her as an evil, jealous, greedy woman which is what she's actually doing to Armin, they show her as a comedic addition to the story. Someone dumb and stupid that the audience would laugh at every time she's on the screen. This will help mitigate the level of hate the actress will get for the characters personality.

The men of the Meng Family is both a curse and gift for HRY. If she didn't save Meng Chi, then there would not be a rift between her and BJS and they would just continue live their mundane mortal life. If she didn't went soft and allowed Meng Chi to continue serve in their house then she wouldn't know Meng Chang Qin. However, what she earned from her kindness towards Meng Chi is the Meng family's undying loyalty and devotion. One that they honored until their very last breath. At the very least, that's far more better than BJS

I know I keep writing about Feud, a drama that is not working for me on a fundamental level, more than about most dramas I adore but I think it's just such a fascinating construction puzzle.

It has all the ingredients I normally love but somehow they seem at odd angles.

I think because this genre/story is supposed to be a tragic-adjacent love story but while the plot twists are fun and what not, the love story is not coming through.

He is having an inexplicable dependency on her and she feels no love - it's not a set up of her being torn between love and hate - preview for 21 shows her still merely hating him and wanting to kill him.

And it's not that a story about a former heavenly couple who now just hate each other couldn't make a fun watch, but it's not a romance. I am assuming, by laws of the genre, it's not gonna end in her walking away to enjoy her revenge and singledom but they will be a couple again and I am puzzled because we have about 10 eps left and - how.

It's clear how it's gonna go, eventually she will realize he wasn't leaving her messages on unread because he was partying it up in divine hot tub but being lightning tortured in her stead and then their love will rekindle blah blah. Except - to rekindle, there has to be an ember and there isn't. She has felt nothing but hatred for him for 400+ years. I can well see her, after learning the truth, going "oops" and not wanting his head on a platter any more. Fair. But love? It's not that she's been suppressing her feelings and now they can bloom. The feelings are long gone.

As I was ranting to @aysekira Feud is what you get when you have someone who neither truly gets nor loves xianxia genre makes a xianxia. You can tell the merest minimum of effort has been put to differentiate it from a historical (where is the world building? that stele ML is supposed to protect has been offhand mentioned twice, no overarching world-saving conflict etc etc.) I think YZ decided to do xianxia due to its popularity and because his bread and butter harem dramas largely can't be done under new rules. But he still tries to stick harem drama dynamics into xianxia and it's like like square peg in a round hole. There are certain tropes/set-ups/character interactions that work in Yu Zheng's favorite harem dramas that just don't in xianxia due to timespan and powers. This drama would make so much more sense if they were an imperial couple, or some duke and his wife and whatever.

Or even if he were a director who was super fond of BDSM overtones and accepted the sexual nature of the whole "beautiful man bleeding (sometimes at the feet of a hot woman)" set up cdramas sometimes do. But I think he's only doing that set up because it's popular without really vibing with it - compare something like Love and Redemption, Love in Pavilion, A Journey to Love, Divine Tree and Fangs of Fortune among others. And without that underpinning (and no other one to replace it), I am left going "huh but why?"

PS She knows he didn't know she was knocked up and still wants to murder him umm PROPORTIONALITY is not a concept I guess but that's about the most divine pantheon thing about her.

With this whole Smartboom situation, I fully believe that Grand Ivory Record broke their contract and now they're realizing that they're screwed due to it. I'm seeing Chinese fans are planning to boycott Smart's next event. I just don't get why they broke it like they sign a 5 year contract for headliner th to manage Smart's acting career. I also do believe that Taili Entertainment or Headliner th did try to fine smart due to being ill that one time. This whole situation is a mess and I'm hearing that the CEO of Grand Ivory Record is a wierdo which makes sense since Chinese fans have been cursing that company before this mess happens. Grand Ivory Record is Smarts biggest enemy, because this whole mess started with the company making an announcement that they will be manging him by himself on May 12th bringing this issue to the public. I'm also hearing on Twitter that this happen with his previous pairing, SmartJames. My mind is all over the place. I don't know what to think of it.

I've been seeing all these allegations about the GIR CEO being a creeper especially towards Smart, with all sorts of screenshots of her private messages sent to fans, and her deleted posts as proof on X (that I won't be putting on here because I really don't want to turn my blog into lawsuit fodder), so I decided to do a little snooping of my own on her PUBLIC accounts that she posted herself (you're free to look around yourself, they're EVERYWHERE at this point).

(As to the fine asked by WeTV when Smart was absent from their react, I absolutely believe that because this is a common industry practice, even in my country. Artists get paid per appearance, and sponsors often pay in advance with terms pre-arranged with artists' management. Not showing up (even if he was sick, poor kid) is a contract breach, and fines are required because sponsors LOSE money from audiences when a brand ambassador doesn't show up to promote (even if it was just a react video. They still had sponsors). This is why some Thai actors like Gun Attaphan or just recently, Fort Thitipong, show up to brand-sponsored events even if they're very sick (Fort broke his leg accidentally and still stayed until the end because he HAD TO).

I'm not saying that Smart should have showed up even though he was sick (because dear God it really wasn't his fault, these things happen. He's a human being). It's just that fines for non-appearance is a COMMON industry practice and studios ARE PREPARED FOR THIS (studios actually do have an emergency fund for incidents like these. It only becomes an issue if it happens all the time). Headliner probably paid the fine to the sponsors, and asked GIR for their cut (they share management of Smart, so it would make sense that GIR had to pay a part of the fine, too). The fact that this CEO is complaining about it is the funny bit.

Think about it, HRY was in Primordial Spirit form for 300 yrs, read about the artifact in a book that she casually tossed on her library then used said artifact to trap BJS so how come some other entity knew that there's a mystical item hidden in a desolate city? He also found out that ZS inherited XJ's powers back when they fought, knew that ZS likes HRY and if ZS can climb that stairs artifact just to check on HRY aka LQY, then ZS would also do his best to find her if she went missing. He made the monkey wait for Fan Ling Er to leave before showing the stone to ZS, from there he can break out of the illusion and at the same time find out why HRY is adamant on killing him. Cunning bastard indeed.

Something is off with Long Yuan. That guy is way too unreasonable and too aggressive when it comes to HRY. Like he NEEDS to kill HRY before his master find out

Base on BJS's personality, I do believe that he really left HRY behind after sealing her magic. The way he thinks is that, all actions have corresponding Karma, HRY went against the will of the heavens so getting punished by suffering in the mortal realm sounds just right. TBH even if we found out that he really took the heavenly punishment on behalf of HRY, I'm still pissed at him. You don't offer to go through LOVE tribulation and then go back on your words after a mishap

HRY and BJS is still going through their love tribulation. Up until now, their love is still being tested.

I know. I know I said I'll keep quiet but it's hard when there's so many thoughts circling in my head. I don't understand what benefit GIR, Tailai, Headliner and Wetv is trying to achieve in pulling this stunt. There's literally none! ZERO! I'm not even a business major and I don't know anything about PR but even I can see that this fiasco will generate heat but not going to attract investors and projects whatsoever! You know what's even worse?

It's not the Kings and Queens and the officials or the Generals that's on the battlefield, it's the SOLDIERS!

Both Smart and Boom are already struggling in keeping their heads above the muddy water that's called the Entertainment Industry but these companies seems to be determined to drown them without any kind of life support.
