My thoughts on Mira

Spoilers for kpop demon Hunters below

I actually liked Mira a lot more in the movie than I thought I would. I think me (and others) were kinda put off by her more aggressive nature in terms of the demon slaying, but after watching the movie it makes much more sense.

One thing I think people keep forgetting is that Mira is the black sheep of her family. So it would make sense that while Celene was training the girls, Mira may have gotten attached to her. Especially if she saw the mother-daughter dynamic between Celene and Rumi.

Finally finding a place to belong would make her more desperate to keep it and she would've adopted Celene's hatred for demons as a consequence. Which would explain why when Rumi started to falter, Mira pressed even harder into the hating demon thing. It was her fail safe.

Her insecurities in their group also shine through when Rumi begins acting weird. Mira is the one that questions Rumi. While it could come across as accusatory or attacking in some way, I saw it more as Mira trying to protect the little family she had built.

Rumi is the rock, the big sister, and the one whose voice they rely on to fix the Honmoon. If she falters, their whole group could collapse. Mira would see this (and she did) and try and fix it.

Especially during the bathhouse fight scene when Rumi runs off to chase Jinu. You can hear both Zoey and Mira yelling about how their overwhelmed by the water demons, but Mira is the one that shouts that they NEED Rumi. Rumi showed up of course but the aftermath shows that they took a serious beating. Something that doesn't even happen during the plane fight when they drop from the sky.

Of course she did the natural things first, like reassure Rumi her voice would be okay and encouraged Zoey to use all 57 of her solutions. But once its clear something else is bothering Rumi and she could potentially be backing out of their mission, thats when Mira gets defensive and starts calling her out (train situation).

When Rumi revealed herself, Mira is most put off by that fact that Rumi lied to her for so long. Then, when Rumi tries to defend herself, Mira looks to Zoey (its subtle) as if considering how Zoey will react. And when Zoey reacts poorly, Mira stands by her. She even say "I knew it was took good to be true". As in she doesn't believe that the girls could all really love each other.

Its only when Rumi uses her demon voice that Mira choose to raise her weapon. Raise, not use, and you can see it shaking. She doesn't want to fight her, but her years of demon propaganda have made her recognize Rumi as a threat. To her and Zoey.

Her insecurities about her family also make her reaction to Rumi's demon reveal that much more grounded. Her demon tells her that "you thought you found a family? You don't deserve one. you never have" Its mocking her for believing that Huntrix was a real family and that they all loved each other.

Also Mira is under the demon spell when she rejects Zoey's concerns. Otherwise there's no way she'd push her away that bluntly. Mira has always matched Zoey's energy throughout the film.

During their make up song, Mira's first lines are about her own jagged edges and keeping them away from the light. I am no lyricist but this could imply that she kept her worst parts, or that parts that pushed her family away, from huntrix in order to ensure that they would accept her.

This is also in response to Rumi's direct apology for not trusting them to stand by her. Which was Mira's biggest problem during the reveal.

Post everything we can see all three girls are more relaxed. And when Zoey says she's glad Rumi didn't die Mira agrees very quickly, showing that she has become reassured in their family and Rumi and her places in them.

Thats all my thoughts on Mira for now. But I love her. So much. and I need people to understand her character. <3

Thoughts on Rumi

Quick warning there are gonna be spoilers from the movie and discussions of self harm/suicide attempts

This is super incoherent but I have to get my thoughts out

Its kinda implied even from the trailers that Rumi keeps herself separate from Zoey and Mira. There are several scene where Rumi is fighting alone, running away, or just in general staying away from them. And this general idea of separateness continues in the film. mostly as self imposed by Rumi.

This separation is fueled by her fear of them finding her demon patterns and rejecting her which she actually states in the movie (if I'm remembering right). She gets ready in a separate dressing room and refuses to go to the bathhouse with Mira and Zoey (despite Zoey repeatedly trying to coax her to come). It's also when Zoey asks that we see Rumi consider the idea of telling them. Before immediately getting shut down by Celene.

Celene isn't featured in the movie very much, but her influence on Rumi is very strong. She's the one who instills in her that her patterns make her evil and she should always keep them hidden. This pretty much wrecks Rumi's self esteem. As we can see several times in the film when she puts the Honmoon above her own mental and physical health.

Celene's own insistence over keeping appearances drives Rumi to literally run away when her voice fails and miss a performance. It's also why Rumi is such a perfectionist and can't let herself settle.

Now I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but I would also like to mention that when Rumi is at her lowest, revealed as a demon and abandoned by Huntrix, she goes to Celene and begs her to kill her. It was such an emotional scene as Rumi was in pieces (and I have another theory that she was fighting Gwi-ma's control) and she handed over her own weapon to let her basically mother finish her off.

I will admit Celene showed similar signs of hiding her own feelings in order to protect the Honmoon. "Our faults and fears must never be seen".

But during that scene Celene also immediately tries to cover Rumi's patterns and refuses to look at her. Its really noticeable because she kept looking around her and at the ground. She couldn't bear to see Rumi accepting the pattern she was born with.

Which is why I think its so powerful when Rumi uses her demon voice and commands Celene to look at her and demand for an answer. I love how she came back from rock bottom and is able to accept herself and the people who really love her. Aka Mira and Zoey.

Anyways thats all my thoughts for now. I love the movie <3

Poor bumblebee he’s gonna be stuck for awhile figuring out his door wings but in the bright side some of his other friends (Autobots that don’t know flutters unless someone told them) he can get away with for now with them while he learns hopefully Starscream help him keep it in check.

(Also is Megatron and Optimus alive in this AU I can’t tell cause I was gonna make a comment on how it would be interesting if Megatron saw this since he’s been around the jets and everything that even he would know the flutters and would debate if he should tell prime it just shrug it off??)

Here's the reunion between Sam and Lennox followed by the Autobots.

Sam was sitting by the window of his room before hearing arguing.

Doctor: You can’t just march in here and demand the release of a patient!

???: I can and am! Sam Witwicky is leaving this hell hole and never coming back!

Sam froze before smiling. He knew that voice and was glad to hear it as Lennox kicked down the door.

Lennox: Let's go kid. I'm getting you back to the Autobots. It's high time for that too.

Sam: Nice to see you too Lennox.

Sam gets up from his spot and walked over to Lennox before hugging him.

Sam: What took so long?

Lennox: We were told you were dead. Optimus even witnessed you get shot.

Sam: Oh yeah. Attinger paid for it didn't he.

Lennox: Prime killed him and I don't blame him.

Sam: Neither do I

The two made their way outside and once there Sam took a deep breath.

Sam: It's so good to be free.

Lennox laughed glad to hear that. The two got into the soldier's car and drove off.

Lennox: Just a warning you probably won't be allowed out of Optimus's sight.

Sam: I would be concerned if I was.

Lennox laughed amused. It took a few hours but they soon reached Hoover Dam.

Sam: Where it started. Man it's been a long time.

As they entered Sam heard a few new voices and familiar ones.

???: Bumblebee breathe. It's going to be fine.

Bumblebee: I failed him. How will he look at me.

Sam rolled his eyes and spoke up.

Sam: Because I know you tried but couldn’t.

Everyone turned to his direction and Optimus walked over lowering his hand so Sam could hop on.

Optimus: Sam.

Sam: Hey Optimus. Nice new look.

Optimus couldn't help but smile.

Bumblebee: Hi Sam.

Sam: Hey Bee. You can talk now. That's great.

Bumblebee smiled as Optimus turned to the others.

Optimus: Drift, Hound, Crosshairs, Hot Rod, Vivian, Cade, Izzy this is Sam Witwicky. Our closest ally and friend

Sam: Hi

Hound: Nice to meet you kid.

Crosshairs: I was expecting someone older.

Drift: A honor

Hot Rod: Bon jour.

Cade: Ok so he's a kid. When were you going to mention it. When Megatron shows up again?

Sam immediately looked at Optimus.

Sam: He's back?

Optimus: There is much to explain and I hope we have time.

Sam nodded agreeing because Megatron would not let them take a break for very long.
