The young princess / future queen of the kingdom. She met Rui in the castle when they were young, his dad bringing him along for one of his jobs there. She was the first to befriend Rui, the two becoming close afterwards.
Emu’s free time is the most limited out of their group, but she spends any free moment she has out of the castle with the others. Whether they’re exploring shipwrecks and looking for treasure, or hanging out at the Kamishiro’s house, she’ll be with them if she can.
Like Rui, she has an interest in human people, but her dad and brothers won’t indulge her on such matters. Her sister is more willing to speak about them, but still warns Emu of the potential dangers.
Her grandpa, on the other hand, could talk with her for hours over her ideas for the future of the kingdom and human people, giving his own input and encouraging her to continue thinking it over and perfect her plans.
Emu brought it upon herself to be the one to cheer her friends up when they are sad, and listen when they need her to. She’d rather spend her time being happy with them or helping them feel better, than watching them be sad. A ‘Wonderhoy☆’ or two usually does the trick, though it has yet to have an effect on Mafuyu. It’ll work on her one day, Emu’s sure!

The last of these fishy creatures is finished, and in time for MerMay too!!
I had a bit of trouble picking which fish Emu would be. I'd narrowed it down to coral grouper, or regal blue tang, and I got stuck there for a while debating over their colors and how I wanted to apply them to Emu's design. In the end, I chose regal blue tang for a couple reasons!
One, well, regal being in the name, and her being the princess. And two, because Dory from Finding Nemo is a (regal) blue tang! (A little headcanon of mine is that Emu loves Finding Nemo, and she and Dory both have a 'just keep swimming' kinda attitude / vibe, so I felt it fit hehe)
I gotta see how arc 2 is gonna go before I can decide who's ref sheet is next, so I'll have more time for other projects, unless I decide to draw whoever next anyway lol

edit: I also have a few fics with her over on my AO3, but they were kind of retconned? It’s still a very similar story just with small details changed. The big changes we made haven’t had anything written about them yet!
