TWENTY ONE PILOTS, SCALED AND ICY: A long ass THEORY (part 1)

Scaled And Icy, aside from being an anagram for “Clancy Is Dead”, also has the initials SAI.

A quick google search of that word would give you a kind of weapon that resembles a small trident or a small pitchfork. This is what it looks like:

If you remember, in Trench, the Banditos have this mantra/code of rebellion that goes, “EAST IS UP” (listen: Nico and the Niners). And its symbol is what they call a “compass E pitchfork”. It looks like this:

Nico and the Niners (first chorus—a reasurrance):

Everyone’s theory so far is that Scaled And Icy is a propaganda by the Dema and what’s coming on May 21st may not be what we’re hoping for (which is a new album).

It is indeed, very sus, given the fact that the logo was not there (||-//), and that it says, “Scaled and Icy and Twenty One Pilots” instead of by. And that Dema was plastered all over the posters instead of FBR.

BUT, HEAR ME OUT: WITH THE SAI SYMBOL LOOKING LIKE THE EAST IS UP SYMBOL DRAWN THERE, IT COULD ALSO BE A DIVERSION FROM THE BANDITOS.

Nico and the Niners (verse 1—a warning):

SCALED AND ICY CAN BE A TWO WAY MESSAGE: A PROPAGANDA FROM THE BISHOPS OF DEMA (“they want to make you forget”), AND A PROTEST OF REBELLION FROM THE BANDITOS (“save your razorblades now, not yet”).

Nico and the Niners (chorus—a declaration):

Anything sounds familiar from the lyrics? Nothing? Allow me to rattle thy mind:

“I’m so high, my Jumpsuit takes me so high / I’m flying from a fire, from Nico and the Niners”

Hi there, blue fire breather creature whose inner part of scales are spelt as “destroy”.

Nico and the Niners (verse 2—a possible affirmation of the diversion):

Noticed something with the way the lyrics are grouped? Nothing? Okay, let me just blurt it out: CHORUS, VERSE, CHORUS, VERSE.

Where do we hear that line? LEVITATE.

TWENTY ONE PILOTS, SCALED AND ICY: A long ass THEORY (part 2)

Levitate (chorus—a confession):

HUGE ASSUMPTION HERE: but maybe the dragon is not a symbol of oppression from the Bishops but rather a symbol of struggle within the self? (“I know how to levitate up off my feet / and ever since the seventh grade I learned to fire-breathe”).

The line, “running from a fire” in NATN might mean that they are running from the fire they caused themselves to burn (or we could say, destroy) wherever the Bishops are imprisoning them? I DON’T KNOW.

But yes, ending this theory with Levitate is very fitting because it is another track in Trench that showed the Banditos’ rebellion and their attempt to escape Dema. And in the mv, we see Tyler being taken away by his neck (a parallel to the line, “we’ll win but not everyone will get out”)—kinda like being choked.

Levitate (verse—a confirmation, maybe):

GOING REALLY WILD, the line, “but compensation feels a lot like rising up to dominate by track two” MAY BE REFERRING TO THE (POSSIBLE—this is unofficial) SECOND TRACK OF SAI. Check out what it is called:

So yes. Maybe SAI is a propaganda. Maybe it is also a protest: an insight to what happened/what is happening inside Dema. We’ll find that out on May 21st.
