This was our last week in photography. It’s very sad as I will miss it. It’s been a great year and I have learned a lot. For my last project, I joined Brendan Murphy and took pictures of balloons mid-pop. We were in the dark room and used sound-sensors and flash to capture these “popping” pictures. I enjoyed this project and got a little wet doing so.

This week in photography, Brendan Murphy and I teamed up on a mini-project for dark basketball portraits. We set up lights to the side and a black background. We also had a camera mounted on a tripod. First we focused the camera, then we turned the lights off and took the photos. This was a very successful and fulfilling project. I really enjoyed that I could bring the things I love into a photography project.

This week in photography we performed mobile photography. I took various photos in various places using my phone. The places in these pictures are the gym, the CADC, and the Whitaker lab. With the photos I took, I used a fish eye lens. Once I took the pictures I then edited them in Snapseed. The photos on the left are the edited ones. I enjoyed this project due to it being simple as it only required a phone and an inexpensive lens.

This week in photography we got to choose an aspect of photography to research and try. I picked sports editing in adobe photoshop. I would find large images online and blend them with logos, gradient backgrounds, and skins. This project was very fun because we got freedom to do whatever we want. I look forward to continuing these edits as I progress.

This week in photography we had a Spring Photo Exhibition and worked with the comparison of raw and JPG photos. For the Spring Photo Exhibition I selected 4 photos from my trip to the Galapagos. The four photos included penguins, an iguana, flamingos, and a seal. The raw and JPG photo comparison can be seen with the first picture. In intensive and too much editing the raw photo has much better color and quality. These two projects were very interesting and I enjoyed them both.

This week in photography class, we learned the HDR process for high contrast scenes. There were 3 ways to make a HDR photo, the first way is to use aggressive editing in lightroom. Another way is to use HDR mode on the camera and the last way is to take three different pictures with different exposures and combine them in photoshop. My favorite way was taking three different exposure photos, it got the best results. I really enjoyed this project and am amazed by HDR photography.

This week in photography class, we were involved in three different individual projects. The first one was focusing on a specific theme and taking 25 pictures of the theme, I chose to photograph backpacks. I went all around school to take pictures of backpacks. Next project was to “random walk”, we walked 25 steps then took an interesting photo. The tree and stacked rocks were both photos from this project. The last project was to explore a single subject. I used Mr. Z’s helmet as the subject and took pictures of the helmet in different places. The places varied from the gym to ping pong tables in the middle school. I enjoyed these projects as there was lots of freedom of choosing the photos.

In the past two weeks of photography we took multiple pictures in the same background combining them for either a Gif or a still image. The first two images and last image are Gifs and are combined images played in a slide-show manner. The third image is a still image, where I combined numerous pictures into one background, which turns out for it to look like there are clones of me. This project was different than the past photoshop works as it was pretty simple once we got to the photoshopping part. I really enjoyed this project and am pleased by the results.

This week in photography we learned about surrealism. Surrealism is defined as “to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind”. For my three pictures, I took images from the web, cropped and selected the parts I wanted, and pasted them on a surreal background. My favorite was the first picture as I loved how I got to use a melted clock in it. I loved this project as I could think outside the box and use abnormal art.

This week in photography class we experimented various techniques in photoshop. First, we made emojis in photoshop, I did a cop and a Mike Wazowski emoji. Next, we made fat heads and I used a picture of Zach to add on to the fun. Finally, we swapped peoples’ faces in photoshop. I elected Jaden and Finn as the victims of this hilarious photoshop. I had a lot of fun doing this project.

This week in Photography class our group did light painting. We set up in the dark room and used colored lights and a flash to create the photos. Often we would have somebody else draw, let them leave, then flash and the picture would turn out great. This is by far my favorite project as we got lots of flexibility on what we could do, lots of creativity. Looking forward to the next project.

This week in photography class we selected one photo from our portrait album and designed a magazine cover. I selected the picture of me in glasses and spinning a basketball on my finger. I thought ESPN would be the best fit for the photo. I used tons of exaggeration to reveal humor for my cover, comparing myself to the nation’s best high school basketball players. This project was very fun and I am looking forward to the next project.

This week in photography class we worked on a magazine cover project. We brainstormed magazine companies we could use to create our own. I picked Forbes and Sports Illustrated. The first photo is for Sports Illustrated and the rest are for Forbes. Our group took pictures in the quad, the studio in the photography room, and in the parking lot. After taking the photos, we imported them into our computers and used Adobe Lightroom to edit them. I really enjoyed doing this project and am looking forward to the light painting project.
