Real-World Sports Tamriel Also Has
The Altmer invented tennis. They are exactly as fancy and proper about this as you'd imagine
Skyrim has a version of hockey that's twice as violent and uses a puck made of horker tusk
High Rock is the home of golf, but not the boring modern kind that wastes a billion gallons of water every day. This is the old Scottish kind that you play on rainy coastlines and if your ball goes in the sea, tough toenails
Hammerfell and Elsweyr both have their own variants of beach volleyball (called "tossball") and have a friendly rivalry about which province has better players
You know that old Mesoamerican ball game that was a bit like basketball but cooler? Black Marsh obviously has that too. The rules vary by region but it's very culturally important, and practically everyone learns to play
Morrowind has their own take on soccer played with guar-hide balls and a whole bunch of complicated rules that tend to deeply confuse foreigners. There are three goals to represent the Tribunal/Reclamations
While hide and seek might be considered a children's game in the rest of the Empire, it's practically an Olympic sport in Valenwood (did you guys ever see the Monty Python sketch with that premise?) Competitions can go on for literal months, because there are SO MANY good hiding spots in Valenwood
Cyrodiil has water polo. I can't explain why I think this, it's just true.

Why does Skyrim like to rip my heart out?
I always liked coming across the Farmer couple on the roads -- the ones who lost their home to a dragon attack. I would always stop and give them some money and wish them the best.
I was just traveling at night when I get jumped by a werewolf (which is rare for me at least) but after I shoot it dead I notice it's labeled as "Farmer" and doesn't offer a pelt, just two pheasant breasts. I know there's that one guy in the Reach you find next to a body and then transforms when he sees you, so I decide to use "Detect Dead" to see if it was something like that.
I find the Farmer's wife, the same one I've given money to multiple times, dead nearby. Apparently, her husband was a werewolf this whole time and attacked her. I'm assuming he transforms if they spawn on the road at night.
I am legit sad about this.

Chaurus - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Large, subterranean arthropods with many-segmented bodies, often kept by the Falmer, who are the warped remnants of enslaved elves.
The Chaurus initially look quadrupedal, but actually have a number of smaller legs that don't seem useful for locomotion. They also have big mandibles, and produce venom, which is harvested by the Falmer.
Although this is an adult form that is able to reproduce, it reminds me of dobsonfly and lacewing larvae. Despite being an adult form however, they have another stage in their life-cycle where they go through metamorphosis, turning into Chaurus Hunters!

This new, winged form has raptorial forelimbs, eight legs (although four are nigh-vestigial) and only a single pair of wings. Very cool!

He got it from them. He was so eager to have even a fraction of their power and they were gracious enough to let him
Mudcrabs are actually directly linked to Hermaeus mora but nobody has ever made that connection because everyone is just too close-minded to consider it. Mudcrabs see all, hear all, and know all, but their words are beyond our understanding. Every time you kill a mudcrab a new one takes its place. Every time you eat mudcrab you lose just the eensiest bit of a memory because its taking it from you. Hermaeus mora made a pact with all mudcrabs to gain more knowledge through them. They have the authority. He sees through their eyes all along the shores and rivers and lakes. They are keeping tabs on everything. They know more than you could possibly fathom. They tell you everything, all the time, but you cannot understand them. Its too difficult for a puny mortal brain to understand. Mudcrabs can do anything they want to. Mudcrabs can interpret elder scrolls but nobodys ever tried to test that. Mudcrabs are they key to every dragon break, you just cant possibly figure out how. The divines are mudcrabs. The daedra are mudcrabs. The ehlnofey were mudcrabs. Anu was a mudcrab. Lorkhan was a mudcrab. Everyone and everything else is inferior to mudcrabs. Mudcrabs determine wars. They do whatever they want according to their own wishes, you just dont know what those wishes are. Talos was a mudcrab, everyone was just too prideful to admit it. The nerevarine was a mudcrab. The dragonborn was a mudcrab. Alduin was a mudcrab. Dragons are mudcrabs. The dwarves were mudcrabs. Everything that exists is ultimately a mudcrab, one way or another. It was mudcrabs all along. Always has been and always will be.

"The Emperor is getting old. Don't know how much longer he'll hang on. So is the whole Empire, for that matter. Getting old, that is. The Emperor and the legions have held the Empire together for hundreds of years. It's been a good thing, by and large. But maybe it's time for a change. Time for something young and new. What? No idea. Because I'm old. Old dog doesn't get new ideas. But maybe young folks like you should try some new ideas. I don't know. Could be messy. But change is never pretty."

I once clipped through the floor in an ancient nord ruin because i was standing on one of those traps that the floor goes up into spikes on the ceiling, but i was fighting a draugr and it was doing one of those finishing blows animations on it, and i guess that does not cooperate with the floor moving so i just ended up falling through the floor and repeatedly getting teleported back up near the floor and falling through again. I had to experiment with which directions to run in to get out of it and i did eventually make it out but it was the first time something like that happened to me
#as someone who plays skyrim on the switch i have had surprisingly not obviously glitchy playthroughs#but this was a pretty big one#tesblr#the elder scrolls#skyrim

Interesting... so what happens to the daedric princes then? Are they also remade? Or are they completely different in each kalpa? And is the Void affected? Does sithis have any part in all that? Is the Void beyond aetherius or a part of it? Or just wherever
So like when alduin destroys the world does that only mean nirn? Or the entirety of mundus? Are the other realms completely untouched too or does everything else just stay the same? Do different kalpas only affect nirn? And like where would the new one come from. Like if it didnt affect oblicion or aetherius then could you theoretically avoid whatever world ending just by Not Being There or like. Is it the whole aurbis thats getting destroyed
#i read the reddit posts too#extremely interesting read#i think my interpretation of the aurbis was probably wrong so now i understand sithis and the void even less
