It might just be me, but Brooklynn’s arc with her prosthetic felt weirdly anti-prosthetic to me.

Like, I get it was given to her by the villain, the one who ordered the hit and is the reason she is disabled in the first place.

But having her be given it and only using it while she’s being morally grey and on the wrong side and then having her toss it when she’s brought back to the good side is jarring, to say the least. Especially when her voice actress literally has/uses a prosthetic.

It's a very complex situation and I guess you could look at it in many ways. I didn't see it as Brooklynn rejecting the idea of prosthetics but rejecting Soyona and the help of a villain once she had the luxury to do that (and a better support system). We'll see in the next season if she gets a new prosthetic, maybe one her friends help her pay for or that a "good" organisation can create for her

It’s such a pet peeve of mine that they didn’t make Yasmina more muscular in Camp Cretaceous.

Before the show she was a track star who spent five hours in the gym almost daily and continued to go on runs for fun/normality while stranded after her leg healed. But she just doesn’t have defined muscles.

And it was such missed opportunity to give her a one piece instead of a two piece for the boat party scenes. Like, it would’ve been amazing representation to give a girl visible and defined abs, especially in a kids show.

idk if she'd have super defined abs as an underage runner (what is biology) but I do kinds wish she didn't lose her passion for competing and was more toned in CT at the very least

Chaos Theory past Season 1 lowk ignores how close Ben and Darius were in Camp Cretaceous. I’m a Benrius shipper, but even look at it from a platonic perspective they were still close. When Ben fell from the monorail, Darius had to deal with the guilt even after Ben returned. I wish the monorail was brought up in CT without it being seen as a joke. (ex. “To detect dinosaurs of the flying variety. Your favorite.”) I feel like that still would be heavily affecting Ben even years later. I’ve dealt with survivors guilt for SEVEN years and it still affects me pretty bad some days. Idk I miss Darius and Ben sm ;-;

Id like to confess that I am a huge soyona X brooklynn shipper.

I've read the other two on why people think it's uncomfortable, and I'm not here to force anyone to ship my ships.

My main point of why it's so GOOD is the fact that BROOKYLNN is the one taking advantage of Soyona - a woman older than her and one that should be so well versed in crime, is being backstabbed by a 'teenager'.

And well, yes I'm basically in love with Dichen so like move over Brooklynn...

It's the perfect toxic Yuri/ secret enemies to lovers; there's a motive for one of them, but maybe they almost forget?

I don't romanticise it, I think their predicament affects their relationship from blossoming, and well. You can't really, because as much as I wish we can't all fall in love with a 40 yr old smth woman who runs an illegal dinosaur smuggling company.

Tldr; toxic! Not abusive. And I love it

So i think this is just me being a little confused but like... why is Kenji/Darius bad?

I can understand in CC because of the age gap, though a lot of people think that Kenlynn is fine?

But why is it bad with chaos theory? I mean they're both adults? If people don't ship it because Kenji was adopted by the Bowmans fair enough but like... Kenji was also 16?

I have quite a few friends who were adopted and they said that they don't really view their younger adoptive siblings as their siblings because they're not actually related and they didn't really grow up together

There is the episode brothers in CT but that's like the only time Kenji ever refers to Darius as his brother and that could be read as a friendship brotherhood kind of thing?

I don't necessarily ship it, but the people saying it's awful confuse me, especially when there's actual incest ships you could dislike? Like Darius/Brand or something?

I feel like people should just be allowed to ship what they want, fiction is fiction and it's not hurting anyone... I think I'm just confused because I'm autistic. Do people actually care this much?

You're going to see a lot of people on either side of the debate. Some people ship Kenrius but some despise it because of the age gap. Likewise some people shipped Kenlynn during CC and many many others despised it because of the age gap. There were lots of posts about it at the time

Some people are grossed out by some people shipping adopted siblings, some people aren't, some people are even fine with straight up bio siblings being shipped

People can and do ship what they want and people can and do disagree. I think I'm just so used to shipping discourse that it doesn't really surprise or bother me anymore

Sometimes I wish more people in jwcc-ct fandom were more understanding towards the fact that fandomspace has its own rules that don't necessarily apply to canon and/or real life... Fandom's "activities" and interests /are/ related to canon to some degree but it's not one and the same thing. We're not trying to change the canon by taking different perspectives when "in the fanon space".

Fanon is just a bit of fun imo absolutely people can have ideas and ships that contradict canon

The character designs in CT are so boring it hurts. In CC the characters were all so vibrant and visually interesting. Each one stood out, their outfits tied into their personalities even when they got torn up and muddy. But all that is lost in CT, everyone looks so tired and dull. I get they're older and it's supposed to be grittier but this is animation, it still needs to be visually appealing. The main kids outfits are bland and say nothing about them. New characters are hideous and look like they're from a different show. They're trying to be more realistic with humans and it just doesn't work (Nona is my sleep paralysis demon). Gia looks like an NPC not a semi plot relevant character, she deserved a better design. I get why Davi is dressed like shit bc he's under cover, and tbf the Handler is peak character design. But everyone else is a flop

Zayna and Gia have decent designs but I can't get over how uncanny valley Nonna is

I agree with that Brooklyn x Sonoya being uncomfortable, just want to let that anon know that they are not alone!! especially from a lesbian stand point of being preyed on similarly by an older women with this same way, it's just a bit weird that the toxic abusive energy is romanticized like that--and I read toxic yuri stuff. I won't foul anyone from shipping it, after all, the two are very attractive and interesting/developed nice, and ain't nothing wrong with just wanting to see two hot women kiss! I also have the tags muted, just don't like the abusive aspects being celebrated/romanticized?? that said, I almost wish we saw the Nublar 5 (or 3 in this case) kinda confronting her more? idk

On the last point, it'd be cool if the gang need to go to Santos for information while she's locked up next season. It could lead to some interesting and much needed interactions

I feel like Camp Cretaceous had such a strong Found Family aspect to it that all the ships feel a little weird. I wish they had waited to establish ships until Chaos Theory. I think it would have been a stronger base for all the ships too, since it's so many years after the Jurassic World Incident and all the characters have grown up a bit. Especially since both ships ended up breaking up anyway.

while I get that a bunch of hormonal teenagers trapped and isolated together would inevitably lead to crushes, I do agree that it felt like the writers were trying to neatly couple everyone off and it detracted from the found family aspect. It would've been more realistic if the romances were more messy, crushes that don't get resolved because the other person isn't in the headspace to date while they're still lost, in constant danger and desperately missing their families and friends back home

(Yes it still bugs me that these kids rarely talk about their lives and loved ones when theyre actively trying to get back home to them)

do you guys remember when liking benrius wasn't an unpopular opinion...? i personally like both ships but ive noticed that majority of the newer fans prefer benji (or bengia, if we're counting that)... to be honest, i hardly ever see people who ship benrius anymore.

I feel like I saw a lot more Benrius at the end of CC because it was the only viable ship left in canon but tbf with CT I've seen a slight shift. I guess because Darius is now canonically in love with B and she is newly single, the Dinostar shippers have had a resurgence and that left a gap open for the Benji shippers to slip right in. Albeit a smaller gap, since some people respect Bengia being canon

brooklyn doesn't seem to get enough flack from the fandom for the stuff she's doing imo--at least from what I'VE seen; they make it a clear point that she is questioning herself and i see no one analyze or highlight (if you have, please point me in the direction of it, i love her character sm) i hope the series highlights whatever guilt she must feel (even though yes, she was doing the greater good, but so flawed) once she reunites with sammy and kenji (this is also thinly veiled criticism for saying i want brooklyn + nublar 5 angst teehee)

Yeah people are too busy shipping her to notice the trauma she has inflicted on everyone around her. Even Davi who she has just met. Like I get that overall she was trying to protect him but the shit she did to him was appalling and he was right to call her out on it

The Sonoya x Brooklynn shipping is starting to make me very uncomfortable in the fandom space tbh.

At first I didn’t really pay it any mind because it’s not canon, they do have good chemistry in the show, and they ended on a pretty mutual note in season 2, but the more I see people romanticizing and sexualizing the “toxic yuri” aspect of their relationship the more uncomfortable I get with it. Because it’s literally just an abuse situation, but it’s hot apparently because their both women and one is considerably older.

I do have the tags blocked so I’m not seeing any of it anymore, but still, it’s unnerving to see so many people completely chill with, and also *into*, the idea of an older woman taking advantage of and abusing a teenager, even if she’s legally an adult.

And now on the flip side of the previous ask...

I personally could never get into toxic ships where one or more parties have tried to kill or threatened to kill the other. But each to their own I guess

honestly its not a confession but i just love the ship soyona x brooklynn yk. and its sad how nothing happened between them like if the show wasnt for children i think they had some potential. like scott (the executive producer) literally said they were inspired by killing eve which is literally a canon wlw enemies to lovers show omg. and also i like the ships like dinostar and kenlynn but i cant stop grieving for brokerlynn :(( i wish we had a bit more content of them

I think the show took their relationship (platonic or otherwise) as far as they ever realistically could tbh
