A3 ‘Don’t Panic ‘ Pack Poster
To go into my final pack we had to make a stand alone A3 poster as mentioned multiple times in other threads. This doesn't have to be part of the set of postcards in style or color theme. Which is why I decided to go for a slightly different color scheme than the various blues you can see in the postcards.
These pictures showcase the process in which I went about creating the poster and how I did each part to get to the end product.
Tumblr media
I started off in Adobe Illustrator to create the first sketch of the hand, this was rather simple as it was already planned in my head so I just had to make it come to life. Drawing the hand was the easy part as it’s a rather simple shape to go illustrate free hand. Where it got tricky was the ribbon that wrapped around the wrist and rest of the forearm. I had attempted doing the ribbon on paper first which took me a few attempts below finalising it then on the Mac it took s bit of adjusting to fit properly around the arm.
To add in additional texture and depth to the ribbon I then went back later to add in imperfection such as tears, rips and scuff marks to add age to the ribbon.
Tumblr media
Next I went over to Adobe Photoshop to create a interesting background and any other touch ups I like the look of to the work. The steps to this screen shot goes as followed.
First I switched the background color to black using the command cmd + I to reverse the color.
Then I used the shape tool to add in a rectangle to make the purple outline then in effects (by double clicking the layer), I added an outer glow which makes it look a little more smooth to look at.
Next I used a fill rectangle of the same purple to create a thin rectangle at the top of the page then duplicated the layers to the bottom of the page. I then selected all the rectangles and rasterised then to be able to edit them all, then merge them all into the same layer.
I then went to the top of the top of the screen to filters then down to “Liquify”, this is how you create the wavy effect that you see in the lines. This adds in more texture and noise apposed to it being flat and uninteresting. The key for the liquify tool is to not go over board with the mount you use it and not to go to close to the edge because it then can lose the overall form.
Tumblr media
I then ported in the hand drawing from illustrator and transferred It into pixels. I then added a insane amount of motion blur this then highlights the section that will surround the actual hand when duplicated as seen below. this just adds in another even more texture and makes it even more interesting to look at.

All Postcards For Pack (Portfolio Display)
This one screen shot of the illustrator files holds all six of my created postcards that have been printed off on A3 and placed into my portfolio.
(The point of this thread was to simply be able to see all of the postcards in one place to make it easier to see my work in one place without searching though multiple posts).

Outer Pack Design
With Nicole in the first part of the day we were stationed in the art room continuing with designing anything that we had to do with our own pack. This varied from the design of the postcards to sticker packs and the outside of the pack which is exactly what is shown right here.
These pictures below show the process in which I went through to illustrate on paper then to create digitally in the Mac room in Adobe Illustrator to then apply the design onto the given paper to create the physical pack.
After doing some light research on Pinterest I found some pictures that I thought were suitable for the pack and combined them together as you will see below. Ever since the start of the project I wanted to have one of either my postcards or poster as this anonymous hand reaching out of the water then as I has drawing the hand in the pencil drawings I wanted to add another main item in the picture and that's where the setting sun comes into play. Like I said the original idea for the front cover art was to just have it as a small postcard in the 6 set but I was experimenting with what could work on the pack placing different things into the Illustrator file and this worked so well I instantly fell in love with how it looked and stuck with it.The Sun being the main centre piece also allowed for the don't panic logo to fit rather seamlessly within the illustration.
Tumblr media
For the back cover I wanted to go away from the conventional thought of water when thinking of the fear of drowning and so I went for a slightly different angle on things. I went with an EKG machine type of illustration of a person being formed in the glitched static of the waves as if they had passed out and drowned out by the waves.
Tumblr media
The rest of the pictures in the thread include the work process of making the pack covers and also includes some of the illustrations for the postcards on the right of the paper of the side profile gasping for air. (This will be shown on the post showing all the postcards displayed in one).
Tumblr media
Starting with the first pencil sketch just putting any ideas down pen to paper. Any research down or things that come into my head go straight onto the paper.
Tumblr media
Then after I am satisfied with the outcome of the pencil drawing I switch over to a very thin tip fine liner for more detailed work such as the arm out of water and for slightly thicker work I use a standard black sharpie. After going over all the pencil lines I allow the ink to dry and then use a rubber to erase the pencil lines as when it gets scanned into he printer all the lines can get rather confusing.
I was very happy with the outcomes of these initial drawings as they went of to create some of my favourite bits of work in my don't panic pack.
Tumblr media
The same concept for the last page of work goes into the page also. Research, pencil, pen, erase.
I was absolutely blown away with how this came out then I wash finished with it although its a very simple line illustration I think the placement of where it ended up on the pack was perfect as it needed something simple and clean looking to just cover the blank back page.

‘Don’t Panic’ Pack First Postcard Concepts
The start of something new.
These set of drawings are the first illustrations of what I will be making for my end product in my ‘Don’t Panic’ pack by the end of the term. All based around the theme that I had picked a few weeks ago and based off work that I produced a few weeks ago on the fear of drowning.
The base drawings that I have shown here are the start of what will be shown on my 6 A6 postcard set and my large A3 poster that will be folded and will be accompanying them. All these things combine to what will hopefully make a final product that could be up to the standards of shop floor quality and seen in the eye of the public as a positive product.
Just like all the work I produce it starts with a simple sketch gaining more and more detail along the way. Then when I'm at a satisfactory level with the pencil work I will switch to the pen and clean up the rough marks to make easier to digitalise.
Tumblr media
The first drawing that I did during the day was inspired by a photograph I had found on Pinterest of a falling man grasping with his hands leaving a trail of bubbles with his fingertips I then saw this opportunity to turn this picture into a cool first person POV picture which you can see in another post. (I wasn't sure how dramatic I was going to make the fingertip bubbles so I ran out of paper to work on but it was resolved in the digital work as I could just rearrange the hand to gain more space).
I had only drawn one of the hand for my POV picture as I thought I could just rotate flip the image once I had finish in illustrator and ported it over to Photoshop. This is exactly how it was made and saved me a lot of time in the long run as drawing another hand was unnecessary.
Looking at the picture after being away from the drawings a few days and coming back to look at it leaves me with a few final thoughts that I could (and have) improve when it comes to digitally enhancing the illustration. First thing that comes to mind is some of the fingers hadn't come out as planned. I improved these by adding additional curves to some to make it slightly more realistic (although I wanted it to look as if made in the style of a cartoon). I also added in more texture where the infers bend and arc over. Once these adjustments had been made the picture in the software was looking more and more to my standards.
Tumblr media
The next drawing I thought of was this stretched strained neck and face half out of the surface of the water. Just like the pack cover it claims an element of being rendered anonymous to the person looking at the art. This also creates a fear and sense of uncertainty into the viewer.
With the first sketch was something that came to me from a photography page that I follow on Instagram and Twitter where the concept as stated before was to place poplin strange situations that you wouldn't find people in normally and I saw this great opportunity to implement this idea into my chosen fear. The outcome (although definitely tweaks that could be made in post editing like a lot of work) came out how I imagined in my head.
The strain in the neck alone shows the pain and struggle that comes along when drowning. This emotion continues through the weak mouth desperately gasping for air.
Tumblr media
All the illustrations made on this day were very different from one another. This is exactly where the third one comes into play. With this one I wanted to captivate the idea of drowning being this peaceful way of death with the elegant one piece dress and show the dramatic side with how noisy the hair is.
When it came to the hair it was what I was looking for in quantity but not quality. Something that slipped my mind in that moment of madness when drawing the hair was quality over quantity. I tried to make it look so busy and dramatic that in the end when it came down the the digital work it was made near impossible to find the prime points to draw in the hair and made it not look up to standard. That was the one piece of analysis from that illustration that I wanted to address as I am fully aware of what I can do to prevent it from happening again and how I can improve upon this in future work.
Tumblr media
Final picture taken before being made permanent with the black sharpie. (Just incase anything went wrong with the sharpie and fine liner work I can show and have evidence of where I was coming from and the ideas behind the work).
Tumblr media
Simply going around the shapes of each drawing cleaning up any rough pencil marks making it super easy to use in Adobe software as I've stated in the past pen is a lot easier to work from once scanned in than pencil as that distinct thick line comes apart from the rest.
Tumblr media
(Same with other piece of A3 paper).
Tumblr media
Final set of drawings ready to be scanned in and digitally made into postcards and posters for my pack!

Zine Update Pictures (Continuation)
These pictures showcase the changes that I have made to the Zine I have been creating. There has been some rather drastic changes to some of the pages and some slight changes to others.
(Some pages are not shown as they have not been changed or modified since last update post on the zine).
Tumblr media
The main change that has been made to the Zine is the front cover right below this paragraph. For all of my future zines I will make sure to have a bold title of which edition of the zine is with a different design and I will continue that design down the back of the zine to keep it consistent and clean looking. These designs will also be kept within a given color scheme such as the black and white one I have shown down below.
Tumblr media
Since the last zine update I have finished this double page spread of the dark room printing that we had made in one of the lessons a few weeks back now with Natalie. I wanted to keep with quite simple yet have the bold slash of color through it hence the huge yellow stake down the middle of the page. I felt as it really fit the style of the selected pictures as with a monochrome set of pages you want something to elevate the shades and allow the prints to show clearly through the color.
Tumblr media
With the next page I decided to show the glitch work. Theres not a lot to say about this spread of images apart from the fact that I split the pages into 4 sections and added some circle frames in each section. The target for this when displaying the pictures on the page in wanted to have the selected part of the picture to be contrasted to the background. (Such as in the Ying and Yang).
I think this has been shown rather effectively and pulled together just how I would have liked it to come out.
Tumblr media
These pictures were from when I experimented with various perspectives, angles, lines mixed in with illusion. I used the back side of a CD disk to reflect the image of the area of where I live. I then went through the 10-15 pictures that I had taken during the course of the day and chose the 2 best pictures that I thought came out the best and dedicated a whole page to each as I really love how dominant they are on the page. I think these pictures came out really successfully and will defiantly do more photography.
Tumblr media
This back page was the continuation of the front cover of the white bars. I did this to keep the consistency through the whole cover section was this will be the first part somebody would see of the zine so I just ran the pattern down the back.
While thinking about analysis, while I was writing this blogpost I thought about what I could have done to further improve this back page as I thought it was a little plain even for being at the back of the Zine. For another Zine that I will be making Im going to aim for adding in additional text or even a small illustration that complements with the given color scheme and style.

Don’t Panic A2 Posters Pt 2
Tumblr media
ZEN (BY LA BOCA)
All through the last few years, during GCSE art and in general life I have found an large interest in art like the piece above. I have always liked to keep things minimal and simple if I can and that's exactly what I love in this work. The integration of simple shape and colour collaborates to create a incredible illusion like shape with the infinite loop and the offset of the bold colours in the holo of the shape. The addition of the back ball in the middle creates a solid centre point for the eyes to stray towards when initially looking at the work; this allows our peripheral vision to see the full figure of the shape. I think this work would have been made through the wide options of digital software which could create and render such imagery.
Tumblr media
BRISTOL (BY COLOURYUM)
This abstract work by the artist known as “Colouryum” has created a strange looking pattern piece which reminds me of old hieroglyphics sprayed across old pyramids. The unique shapes and pattern is very uniform and stays that way thought the work. The use of negative space in the background also offsets the bright color in the made shapes.
Tumblr media
THAT SUMMER TRACK (BY MCBESS)
This poster is very different to the first two that I picked out as I wanted to show the wide range in posters that they display in the Don’t Panic Packs. This black and white poster above looked straight like a brilliant Album cover art of a grungy, indie band. In artist that has made this work I don't think had a thought out plan (or that's what I see in the work). The background is very strange with the hills and sharp mountains on the left and on the right the a strange monster creature in the wall.
The main thing that really stooging out to me when initially looking at this work has the different type face that are showcased in at the top of the screen. The way the creator has many different typography creates a lot of noise and additional texture.
Tumblr media
FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSING (BY BANKSY)
A big one. As far as artists go Banksy is one of the most well known modern artists of our time for being incredibly unconscious with his hidden identity. A lot of Banksy’s art hold a message whether its political or subtle there is always meaning to this persons work and a statement in which he opens our mind to.
The image above is a prime example of what Banksy can do spiritually and physically showing of as an artist. In the typical Banksy fashion he uses black and white for the people and hints of colour to what he wants to highlight or show off in the piece. Shading and tone is and will always be a huge part in the work as making his work realistic is important as its usually in a large scale on the side of a monument or building.
I can talk about Banksy and his incredible work all day and he might be my favourite artist of all time and I would love to gather more inspiration from his work in the future.
Tumblr media
DARK (BY EELUS)
This strange work by the artist known as EELUS really caught my attention with the back bold color and then as I looked closer I thought it was quite a strange looking piece with figures from hell. But the more I look at this work the more I think how playful and cartoon like it is and by thinking like that I seemed to lighten the mood and general feel of display. The use of perspective on the art is very effective, by using the larger forms at the front and the characters slowly getting smaller and smaller is the only thing that makes the work have some depth to it. When trying to use one bold color in a poster you have to be careful with the other shades and use of negative space as to much space or to many shades can make the feel very overcrowded and to noisy to completely understand what is going on in the picture. This is where this work is perfect as the spacing is perfect between the forms and and is very clear what is going on which also makes it easy to give an initial thought.

Don’t Panic A2 Posters Pt 1
In both part one and part two of the ‘Don’t Panic’ posters I have picked out 10 posters from the official website that really caught my attention. These posters have different styles along side different mediums of working. Each poster will have a short description of who made the poster for ‘Don’t Panic’ and my personal thoughts and ideas about the persons work along side the meaning, process and techniques behind it.
Tumblr media
‘LA CONQUÊTE DE L’AIR’ (BY BLÉRIOT )
The reason I picked this black and white poster is the amount of detail and tone that has been put together in this piece. I usually don't really like detailed art like this as sometimes it looks to confusing and it can look like there is to much noise but the way that this poster has pulled it of really appeals to me. I think it could be the contrast of busy it is In the middle of the page mixed with the pure white.
Tumblr media
TRI INFINITY (BY NIK ILL)
This poster is very different from the last (as you will see in all the posters that in picked out each one is different from another; from style to medias I like finding new paths to venture down).
The strange poster above caught my attention as it reminded me of a digital artist I used to like called Justin Maller he would create really cool geometric posters and wallpapers with sharp edges just like in the one above. This poster unlocked a memory I had from years ago and I am defiantly going to try make a postcard or poster in my ‘Dont Panic’ pack to show my passion in his style and work.
Tumblr media
SUBTERFUGE (BY SMIT)
The Disney poster above caught my attention on the posters page just because of how strange it is. When making anything in life your mind really can go anywhere and this poster is a prime example. Although there probably was a plan and a concept behind making this poster it does make my mind boggle about how someone could take something so innocent and appealing for children to then combine this with such a polar opposite concept of the undead. I also thought it was rather clever when the creator replaced the apple in the original image with the brain.
Tumblr media
SUMMER'S HERE TO STAY... (BY 45RPM)
This poster appealed to me purely of its color palette and brightness. The cartoon style reminded me of the crazy drawings and art that a lot of us would have mad as a kid but scaled up to a more professional and industry standard level. This digital art has me emerged in a world of simpler times and being a kid.
Tumblr media
SPIRIT (BY JENNI SPARKS )
For some reason I really like art in any form when it includes bottles of alcohol or any drink. I think it might be the fact that bottles always have interesting designs on them which catch my attention. But this poster above is so intriguing. The bright colors and the bright background makes the bottles really vibrant. The style reminds me of some classic POP art.

Fears Illustration (Aquaphobia) (Illustrator)
At the start of this lesson with Jodi we picked a fear in which we are going to be working from for the rest of the ‘Don’t Panic’ selection of the course then once we had done some research into our chosen fear I headed over to a great website called Pexels.com where you can find high resolution stock images that you can use in any of your digital work. (This can be seen in the screen shot below).
This is also where we started to use the Penguin book pages as the backgrounds as you will see in the screenshots.
Tumblr media
After doing all this research and preparation it was finally time to put it all in to use in the software. We placed the picture that we downloaded from ‘Pexels’ in Adobe Illustrator being sure to place in as a template so that we can draw our own illustration over onto a new layer. Then after the place I adjusted the size proportions of the image and then started to draw with the Wacom tablet a simple outline for the shape of the body and key facial features before going in to add additional detail and contour lines to make some less interesting parts of the illustration stand out with more texture. I also experimented with different bush sizes and styles to get the drawing to exactly how I want it.
This first part was rather simple as it was the initial trace before any other edits or big changes to the illustration.
Tumblr media
After creating the first outline I then created a second art board so that I could use the grey scale and start to add in some more depth and shading into the work. This allowed me so that later on when creating the post cards I could stick with a color theme with out any colors throwing the work off.
After the grey scape live paint bucket had been added it was time to switch over the Photoshop and start making the work with the penguin backgrounds and illustrator work combined. These screen shots below I used various different styles I have learnt from other bits of work that I have been taught from various lessons and work shops on campus.
This varies from different type font to layer types to effects. It will all be shown below and the way I have done things have been scattered around other blog posts from when I originally learned them so I can go back and remind myself if I ever forget how to do anything I have a nice prompt I can always go back to.
Tumblr media
With the work I created in the thread I had taken inspiration from various sources online then I took it to my abilities to re-make and put my own style on the work. These sources mainly consisted of Pinterest (just about the norm for any graphics research by this point) and also miscellaneous websites that I may have ventured too.

Start of my own ‘Zine’
This Wednesday, with Natalie, we started to create our first Zine on “Adobe Indesign”.
It was slightly overwhelming when starting to use this software as I've never used it before. But as in started to use it more and more it got a lot easier and I got a lot faster using it as the short cuts are pretty similar to Illustrator and Photoshop.
In the pictures below i was showing off my progress during the first session of making the zine.
(Since these first screen shots were taken the zine has been updated and modified as I didn't like how some of the pages looked these changes will be shown in an updated Zine blog thread).

‘Don't Panic’ Pack Inside Pictures
In the lesson with Jodi she had a few of the actual ‘Don’t Panic’ packs from as far back as 2004. These packs included some incredible art and leaflets as seen in the pictures I had taken in the classroom. As we played the content of the packs out on the table so many great art styles bounced at us. (although some being slightly dated). This made me feel like I was going through an art time machine.
From Tate Britain work to old festival flyers it had it all.
Each bit of work from these packs had something for everyone and an art style that everyone will like and understand.

Penguin Book Backgrounds (Fears)
In this workshop the group each got given a different A6 black Penguin book to work into during the day. The task at hand was rather simple. Go through as many pages as you can creating unique images and illustrations on each page. These pages will be used later on in another thread where we had drawn a fear of our choice and made some really interesting edits with them.
We had a couple of ideas that we could use on the board at the front of the classroom including. Adding negative space to create a sentence, add shape and pattern to highlight key words, using stencils of letters. We could also combine two of these techniques to make a very busy composition.
These pages include fears, quotes, and other illustrations that came to my mind as the day went on.
(Each caption has a brief explanation on what went on in my head and how I got these ideas on paper.)
Tumblr media
As the front cover page of the book I wanted a clear and clean understanding of what the overarching theme of the book will be. This included the font type being very sharp to make it look scary. Also included in the first page are some of your classic fears being spiders and trypophobia (fear of holes).
Tumblr media
Here I had taken the idea of picking out specific words from a given page and surrounding those words in a black abyss the really make them stand out in addition of adding a level of contrast and the jagged edges portrayed a understanding of texture.
Tumblr media
With his page I knew I wanted to do another word highlight as I feel this is a strong way of showing a perspective or understanding on something from a person. But to make it different from the last one wanted to make a slightly more intricate and detailed illustration. At the start I didn't really know what I was going for but as time one ton I just kept on adding in parts bit by bit until I thought I was happy with how it turned out. Then finishing it off with a strong side piece of the question mark which links to the three selected words.
Tumblr media
With this illustration I had came away from the words and what they mean on the page and left them to create a textured background to this drawing. To show off a fear that many people fall victim too, claustrophobia. I thought the way that I displayed this fear was rather clever and implemented new layers into the page; this being as ig somebody was stuck behind the page desperately trying to get out. This and the strong bold type font I chose created a strong outcome in my opinion.
Tumblr media
This work had a bit of a dark and sinister turn in it. Mental health and the attention towards mental health has drastically been on the rise over the last few years so I wanted to show recognition towards that and the sad path that it can lead down if not handled correctly. This is and always will be a fear for a lot of people that feel like they will trip into a downwards spiral of sadness and dark thoughts. This needs to be more widely recognised and its exactly why its got a place in this book.
Tumblr media
With this one the concept is clearly quite simple, circles, but different sizes with a pure black background. I just really liked how the holes look with the writing coming through the holes. This is like the page is trying to hide something from us.
Tumblr media
This double page spread of words and censorship comes from a phrase of a TV show I watched a while back now that strangely stuck with me for a while now and the more I think about it the I realise how true it is and panic over. The truth is that if something isn't right in front of our face its a mystery to us and we seem to ‘obsess’ over until we know exactly what we want to know. This is just human nature now.
Tumblr media
This is exactly the same as the blackout hole page shown a few pictures ago but just experimenting with different shapes and sizes. When I originally made this my mind when straight to the thought of a Tetris board. By leaving this negative space between the shapes this allows each box to be individually distinguished and seen with no interruptions.
Tumblr media
In both of these pages I went back to the word picking. On the first I simply went through each line with a sharpie and squiggled through leaving words that stood out to me and in the second I went for one word off centre from the middle which is something that many people are scared of for there own reasons and added streaks coming out as if it were sun light beams.
Tumblr media
Very simple. Needles. They are scary. Nobody will change my mind. That is all.
Tumblr media
I think everybody is scared of heights somehow and the fear of falling if placed in the right place and situation. Some people are scared of planes; some people are scared of sky scrapers but in the end of the day falling big distances is a terrifying concept.
Tumblr media
The overarching fear that everyone eventually will die and that we never know when that day is terrifying. One day we will be gone and and everything we once stood for and understood will mean nothing. Sad and depressing. But true.

‘Dont Panic’ Research and Insight
What do they do? What do they include?
‘Dont panic’ is a service and art culture that create unique packs and information to unique venues and products that need the attention from people just about anywhere. These information packs can include anything from trail products and promotional items to there infamous A2 poster that is always in one of the ‘Don't Panic’ packs: these posters are made by commissioned artists and designers that are then showcased in the packs. The variation of content is extremely vast and will snatch the internet of many.
Tumblr media
What do these packs look like? What do they include?
The images below will show you not what is just in the pack, but also what these packs look like and how they are presented to people picking them up and what they look like at a quick glance. The design is rather simple. A 230x230mm brown square bag with a professionally designed front cover from a rotation of brilliant artists and graphic designers. Alongside the back being one of the most highly sort after promo positions on the pack: this for obvious reasons being one of the very first things someone would see when picking up a pack and before even opening it.
Tumblr media
As stated in the paragraphs above these packs are NOT filled with no care and purpose. These are counted as premium products and are not your usual company flyer pack filled to the brim of brochures and useless rubbish to be never looked at. The ‘Dont Panic’ packs are filled with useable, interesting and quality products that can and will be appreciated. The time and effort gone into these never go unnoticed.
Tumblr media
Where can you find these ‘packs’?
As stated on the official ‘don't panic’ website these packs con be found in “independent bars, galleries, cinemas, record stores, fashion outlets and universities” so clearly the packs have a large amount of potential places to be picked up which evidently means that the more places the packs can be found the larger amounts of people and groups will see the packs, be intrigued and therefore pick one up.

Offsite Illustrator Architecture (Live Paint Bucket) (Illustrator)
This was the work that we had to make over the half term inspired by Patrick Caulfield and Paul Catherall. These artists use very simple art styles with very little shading that usually follow a scheme. In my work I tired to follow in there steps and go for what they might make it given the 9 boxes that we had previously drawn.
Along side bringing life to the work through the color we also had to use pen tool to clean up the work. This is by making a new layer and going through the boxes one by one and utilising the pen tool; after the pen tool work is done you can get rid of the original layer of the boxes and be left with a clean looking piece without the imperfections and mishaps of the pencil and ink on the paper.
Tumblr media
To use the ‘Live Paint Bucket’ tool it’s rather simple. After making the layer into a ‘live paint group’ select what you want to fill with color then use the keyboard shortcut “k” to bring up the Live Paint Bucket and start to fill in your work.
Tumblr media
The art style that the artist mentioned in the paragraph above is extremely minimalist. If you look at there work you can see what you mean. Paul Catherall is very geometric and simple but it’s so very well executed. The amount of detail and precision in his work is inspiring. The difference between my work and Catherall’s work is that my work that I produced has a thick stroke whereas his is very smooth and slides nicely into the next color or from foreground to background.

Architecture 9 Box Edits (Photoshop)
I used the 9 boxes of the Leonardo house drawings that we made the first day and scanned them into photoshop then used the selection tool to “Layer Via Cut” and “Layer Via Copy” right click setting on each box to rearrange the boxes into a compact layout in the centre of the page. It was important that the boxes where all together in the centre leaving lots of negative space of the white paper. This was important when making this style of art to leave the space as this gives a brilliant divide of space to art ratio. (As seen below).
When we had got these proportions correct and alignment to what we had wanted it to become we moved onto the colour scheme and pallet for each of the compositions seen below. By choosing a set color scheme and sticking by it during the creating of the work has shown me that you don't need lots of colors to create a eye catching composition. Once again less is more in this work.
After filling in some of the architectural features in the boxes. We slowly progressed to the outside and freedom of the illustrations; slowly adding in extra sparks of color to liven up the picture and overall round it out. These include the blue and red dots placed precisely in parts which needed the most attention of the help of color. This being the tip of the building which was the picture that had been modified by the “Threshold” effect then placed in. Along side the bottom to balance out the red circle in addition adding extra texture and tone.
I also experimented with some of the unique brush types Adobe Photoshop had to offer which further enhanced the work. These subtle objects can be found in the first picture of the thread. The 3x3 boxes getting larger going down and also the bar at the top of the work with the negative space between. These 2 features had a very faint impact on the work yet really brings the piece as a whole together.

Architecture 9 Box Edit (Development)
Some help and pointers for me to go to whenever I need help trying to find something on Illustrator or Photoshop. This work is primarily from the architecture work that we were doing before half term.

Note To Self- Where to find the “Layer Via Cut” to send a selected image with the marquee tool to cut off from one layer and send to another layer as a new image leaving a hole on the original layer where the selection was.
“Layer Via Copy” send the selected part of an image to a new layer leaving the original selection fully untouched.

Note To Self- To go back to the original layer when doing the “Layer Via Cut” button.

Note To Self- When starting to color and shade in a part of the drawing or Illustration in Adobe Illustrator you find the “Live Paint Bucket” settings from the Object drop down menu.

The threshold dropdown option allows a photo with a deleted background to change the color to one solid block color throughout and adding additional texture and contrast to the image (this can be seen in the 9 Box blog thread final)
