“ just a heads up, dude… I might accidentally poison myself… or you. ”  poison lab isn’t usually a pairs kind of class, but something’s been up with denke for weeks now, and far be it from him to question the whacko’s methods.  “ my grandma tried to teach me this stuff but I’m only good with like, paralytics and shit. not so much the fatal shit. ”  as far as “friendly” overtures go, this is admittedly one of sweet pea’s better attempts. he’s so used to glaring people into submission, or being gruff, aggressive, that it takes a minute for his guard to slip just enough to allow for civil conversation. billy’s not a brandy, though, and he’s not a chico — honestly, sweet pea doesn’t know what billy’s even doing here; he’s obviously not a killer. but he’s glad for the other’s presence. is glad there’s someone in this hellhole who can provide a little comic relief when it’s needed.  ��� ‘m sweet pea, by the way. bennett, right? ”

billy looks up at the dark-haired boy , surprised to see sweet pea talking to him. he tries to act casual , glancing over his shoulder to see where marcus -- his usual lab partner -- is , but the boy is nowhere in sight. billy knows who everyone is and what group they belong to at the school; it’s one of the few skills the rat had. but sweet pea hadn’t been so easy to peg down. he was a legacy by name , that much he knew , but he didn’t belong to any of the groups. and that was weird.

❛ don’t worry , it wouldn’t be the first time. ❜ billy isn’t the best at poisons -- that title is reserved for petra. but he also wasn’t the worst ( surprisingly ). if the rat would only apply himself just a little he might actually be decent. he sits up a little straighter in his chair , giving sweet pea room to sit next to him at the table. ❛ billy bennett. just a measly little rat. ❜

billy hits the ground of the dorm room hard. they’re in marcus’s room and thank god shabnam isn’t there. but he also thinks , this probably wouldn’t be happening if he were. air leaves his lungs in a whoosh and for a moment , he can’t breathe. that doesn’t stop the weight of marcus from crashing down on top of him and for a few frightening seconds , billy thinks he really can’t breathe. 

his eyes widen in brief panic before marcus shifts his weight ever so slightly and the green haired boy can suck in a breath and exhale a groan of pain. rolling marcus off of him doesn’t seem to be an option and the once homeless boy has quick hands , pinning his own two arms down with relative ease. 

❛ you do this often ? ❜ he teases as he stops fighting for a moment to catch his breath. ❛ next time i get to be the one on top. ❜ he adds with a grin as a wheezing laugh escaping his lips.
