Thinking up an au of Chat Noir super loosely based on the Incredibles opening concept of heroes becoming public enemy no.1

as in the power of destruction is just too much for the public to handle (possibly due to a few accidental slip ups? Think New York special Aeon) and Parisians are extremely fearful of him but still praise ladybug sm - who obviously advocates for him all the time bc he’s really just a silly guy but I fear the public would only listen to her out of respect - Through it all he’s an absolute sweetheart and tries so hard to be less menacing - like sooo hyper aware of each of his actions to the point he kinda loses Chat Noir as an escape from his life bc it becomes just another act to perform - and ofc Ladybug KNOWS him like truly knows that he would never do a thing to hurt anyone yet whenever it’s just her as Marinette around Chat she’s like subconsciously on guard just bc how much it is drilled into each Parisian that his power is dangerous - think Zootopia where Judy sees Nick as a true partner yet still reached for the fox repellent as a subconscious reflex - being Marinette she beats herself up about this sooo much bc she adores him but it still doesn’t shake off an odd feeling that sits at the out of her stomach

Also I’ve been meaning to draw scenarios of Adrian having dreams/night terrors of that episode cuz ik it was reversed blah blah time travel Bunnix blah blah but in my mind that level of trauma still exists in his body like his mind may have forgotten but his psyche is still reeling from that (+ephemeral a lil) Or even just searing headaches and blurry memories that he knows aren’t his but still too vivid to ignore need need need need need need need

The cherry on top is that he can’t even step outside of the house without being chased down by literal crowds of people, like there’s been multiple episodes about this and it’s crazy. He has to just be in constant fear each time he leaves cuz what. I feel like even with his body guard that’s still like such a terrifying threat. Also he can’t even catch a break with his friends, Chloe having him sign posters and Marinette always violating his privacy. And then there’s Wayhem who like is sweet but also terrifying? Why is it all just socially acceptable ALSO HES LIKE 13-14?? Idk maybe I’d sorta get the hype if he was at least 18 but bro is a literal child who are these ppl

Sometimes I think about the fact that Adrien Agreste is a child star and I scream a little. His entire life, every moment of his existence except bathroom breaks and sleeping are all broadcast to the public or threatened to be broadcast to the public. He couldn't go to the movies without people being weird. And when he's Chat its not like he's now a normal guy, he'd just another different public figure.

The stress of having to always be camera ready, always having to act to perfection, never slipping. He cant even voice opinions publicly without his dad being weird about it. If his public opinions are too loud there's this implicit threat that Gabriel will reel him back in again trapping him back at home.

Hes litterally not able to be a child. That's so messed up. He cant even be normal as Chat cause hes a hero and people have expectations for those. I'm rattling at the metaphorical bars here. Adrien is so messed up in such a specific way.

Theres also the implications of emodrien also being messed up in a simular way dispite his dad not being abusive. Like geeze every universe destined to be the publics plaything and for what, clout?

why jalil kubdel was the ideal candidate for a second hawkmoth 

in his focus episode we already know he was drawn to a spell to bring back to dead for some reason [looks at the mother shaped hole in the kubdel family]

he’s an archaeology student who would have the resources and know-how to investigate the miraculouses

hates ladybug because her war took away his little sister (and even if it’s technically hawkmoth’s fault, alix still had to go on the run because ladybug lost the miracle box). yes i know reunion technically resolved their issues but i think he should have still had a bone to pick with ladybug for putting her in this situation in the first place

strikes a really interesting balance between “realistically compelling” (his dad neglected him emotionally in favor of his golden child sister, possibly dead mom, and now the only family member that loves him has been taken away from him) and “frustratingly immature” (get the fuck over yourself and go to therapy for your daddy issues, dude) that i think works really well in a lot of villains

would have a different motivation from gabriel hawkmoth, opening the doors to new stories. in my mind, he would take up the hawkmoth mantle not because he wants the wish necessarily but because he wants ladybug and chat noir to give up their mantle as heroes, thinking that if all miraculous use ceased, the world would be a better place and his sister could come home. also maybe he can be nice to nooroo can we have that

would be an excellent case of a tragic self fulfilling prophecy. as we’ve seen before, family members wielding miraculouses at the same time only leads to disaster. even if alix tried to come out of the burrow and convince jalil face to face that the world needs ladybug, i think it would have resulted in some kind of world-ending fight or time paradox, forcing her to not intervene and watch her brother go down the rabbit hole into spiteful rage
